So, to watch football or newly started Battlestar Galactica? (Here in Norway, that is.) Hmm. Choices, choices.

Hum, interestingly, there's two Rose Tyler ficathons running - one open for all genres and one gen specific. Pick your poison, I guess. (I sucketh at gen, so that won't be for me.) Mmm, fic.

TVGuide asks for questions to be asked William Petersen and Jorja Fox

Of course, what they get are gems like these:
My first question is to Mr. Petersen. How do you explain to some of us fans that after six years of getting to know Gil Grissom as a highly ethical professional who always put the integrity of the lab and the investigation first, would actually turn out to be just the opposite. An unethical hypocrite, Who shucks the rules , and has an ongoing intimate relationship with a subordinate putting every investigation they work together at risk.
My second question is to Ms.Fox. Early before season 6 aired you made a comment about "Sara coming into her own this season". How on earth is sleeping with the boss coming into your own?

To the many fans of yours who are not in favour of the Grissom/Sara relationship, and who feel deeply betrayed by (1) the direction the show has taken since season 5 and confirmed in season 6, and (2) the morphing of Grissom into the callous man we saw in Way To Go, and who bears little resemblance to the wonderful Gil Grissom of the first 3 to 4 seasons, what would you say?
These many fans of yours are no longer able to rewatch past episodes because what we see on screen screams "Lies!" Of course, future episodes are pretty much out of the question.
For Ms Fox, I have no questions whatsoever.

For JF: Sara wouldn’t or couldn’t understand NO meant NO. She just didn’t get it. So why would anyone keep after someone who so plainly doesn’t want anything to do with you other then work. Don't you feel this relations now cheapens Sara.
For WP: What I'd like to know is why would Grissom go with someone who he has no chemistry with even the little bits of flirting seems forced and not at all natural, why not with someone who you couldn't miss the chemistry with like Catherine now the flirting there seemed natural.Or better yet Lady Heather what about the comments you made that Grissom helps Lady Heather because "he wants to be part of her life." or "When you find someone who may share your soul, it has an impact,". Now there's a perfect match.

Thank you for 6 incredible seasons. The Grissom & Sara storyline has touched our hearts. Never on television has there been a couple portrayed as so perfect, mature, and devoted. Do you think we'll get a few more private at-home moments between Grissom & Sara and maybe a kiss? Please?

to mr. petersen: how do you feel about the fact that viewers are finding grissom's big heart to be cold and cruel after the finale? the fact that he blew off his friendship with brass, a man who had given him the power to choose life and death in an emergency in favor of playing camera duels with a subordinate?
to ms. fox: you've previously stated that sara had moved on, that she was going to grow as an individual. now that we've had this horrible revelation do you not feel that she is taking gigantic steps backwards?

Ah, CSI fandom. Good to see it's still all about the ships.

Today's fic recs:
The Difference Is in Those Little Details by [livejournal.com profile] nekare. Doctor Who. (Spoilers for Doomsday.)
Eight months later, and she finds herself alone in Liverpool’s docks after nighttime, the only sound the one of the dark waves crashing against concrete. Her hair smells like salt, and her hands are cold. If she closes her eyes, she can almost imagine another set of footsteps behind her, and she grins and starts running, stumbling a bit with the low heels she’s got on; running and running from an invisible threat just like in the old days.

Regenesis by [livejournal.com profile] lyras. Harry Potter. Post-Halfblood Prince.
Neville sits beside her helplessly. He would love to tell her that these sacrifices have to be made; that some things are greater than human life. But he's not at all sure that he believes this.

Oh honey, BSG all the way!!!! I'm an addict, although I stay away from fandom. The show is amazing, though. Go for it!!!

On ficathons... am I being persnickety in thinking the gen ficathon was sort of... out of bounds coming right on the heels of the first Rose ficathon posted? I mean, I know there's no rule about only one ficathon at a time being run, but... eh. People are weird. And that question wasn't intended to be wanky. Just wondering.

Excpet that the organisers of the gen one had been openly discussing it for days before the other one appeared and decided to go ahead with it because it catered for a different area of fic (and one that's been pretty negelcted, really.)

From: [identity profile] sc-angel72.livejournal.com
Ah well, I'm pretty sure the first one had been discussed for a week or more as well, but to each their own. I wasn't questioning anyone's right to do it. Just the etiquette, I guess.

But hey, means more for us to read!

From: [identity profile] wendymr.livejournal.com
Is there any etiquette to these things? Seriously, I have no idea who had the idea first, and even if we did know there's nothing to say that two Rose ficathons simultaneously is wrong or impolite. As [livejournal.com profile] calapine said, too, they're catering to different aspects. The gen one is gen, and it's specifically for Rose without the Doctor. Ours doesn't specify, but given the people who've signed up so far we're much more likely to have Rose with Doctor(s), and much more likely to have shippy/subtext fics. Very different, and each promising lots of good fic. :)

From: [identity profile] sc-angel72.livejournal.com
And that was all my question was, curiosity as to whether there was etiquette or not. Seriously, no harm or wank was intended.

And I yes, I agree, as I said before, it simply means more fic for us to read. Doesn't hurt me or mine in the least to have lots of good writers with their noses to the grindstone writing about one of my favorite companions.

No, I think that's a little unfair. I doubt the organisers of the gen ficathon had any idea that [livejournal.com profile] dark_aegis and I were planning ours. We'd only discussed it in IM, because I've been so busy lately and offline so much.

I had no idea that the [livejournal.com profile] rose_lives people were planning a ficathon - if I had known, we might have held off or talked to them first. I only heard about it today, a few hours ago in fact. I see [livejournal.com profile] calapine says the organisers were discussing it openly, but since I've been mostly offline for quite a while I didn't see it - possibly also it was on sites I don't to go very often. I don't think [livejournal.com profile] dark_aegis saw it either.

It's just one of those things. We wish [livejournal.com profile] thedivinegoat and [livejournal.com profile] livii all the very best with their ficathon, and I'm glad to see they're getting quite a few signups. We've added a link to it on our signup page, and I'm delighted to see they're linking to us too.

Like [livejournal.com profile] misscam, I won't be signing up for the gen ficathon - I'm not that good at gen, but I also prefer Rose with the Doctor, or with some hope of being with him. Maybe some day I'll be moved to write a pure 'Rose gets on with things' fic, but at the moment my muse isn't inclined in that direction. I am looking forward to what comes out of both ficathons, though - hey, since when has yet more good fic to read been a problem? ;)

Yeah, we'd had in the works since...I checked my email, and we'd started discussing it August 13th. We were just slow getting it off the ground because I was super-busy. I did announce that it was in the works on [livejournal.com profile] rose_lives, but no worries if you didn't see it. We thought about cancelling after yours came up, but since we'd already had it almost ready to go and the fic focus is quite different, we figured the fandom could always use more Rose fic. :)

Good luck with yours, I can't sign up for it because one major ficathon at a time is all I can handle (plus the Jack crossover ficathon is still running and I need to do rewrites for that), but I'm looking forward to the fic!

Ah, I was right - I suspected it was all pretty much in the same time-period. We posted our first alert (just on [livejournal.com profile] dark_aegis's journal) on the 14th, when we'd just been discussing it for a couple of days. I'm not a member of [livejournal.com profile] rose_lives, so didn't see yours there. Ah well. Simultaneous invention: the basis for all the best advancements in knowledge ;)

Our due dates are nicely spaced out, which is a happy coincidence :)

But I liiiiiike the football. Actually, ended up watching it and there were 6 goals and a red card, so I am glad I did. I caught the end of BSG still. It's still at the beginning, so much mystery about Cyclons.

Well, I know I saw discussion about the gen one previous to the other being posted, actually. So... *shrugs* Either way, after the series finale, ficathons are often popular. Seems to be the time for them.

From: [identity profile] sc-angel72.livejournal.com
Ooooh, yes. Lots of mystery. It's a good thing. And if you do start watching, my advice would be to motor through the rough spots in season one. What comes after is definitely worth a few cringe-worthy moments while the cast adjusted and really dug into their roles that first season.

*works on converting you while waiting for the new season to start here*

This seems to be the week for ficathons. We have the gen Rose ficathon, Wendy's and my everything goes Rose ficathon, and now a Martha ficathon. It just boggles the mind. Was there a memo somewhere that I somehow missed that this was ficathon week?

Heh. Think it's tied to end of series and all. Gotta have something to spawn the fic, I guess.

I have to wonder whether or not I'm watching the same show as those other people.

Then again, someone posted a long rant about how promising the Grissom/Nick ship looked from season five, until the horrible travesty that was season six. Included, of course, was a fanvid.

As it is, I can't even get annoyed anymore. But I would *love* for Jorja Fox and William Petersen to give feedback on these fandom wars, hopefully along the lines of 'don't you people have real lives to worry about?'

I wonder about that myself sometimes. Just goes to show how good we can all be at seeing what we want to see, I suppose.

Haah. If TVGuide actually uses some of those more... opinionated questions, I will laugh quite a lot.

Yeah, I don't read much HP fic either, but that one did catch my eye. Especially for the Neville stuff.

Those interviewers *clearly* all got together before the Q&A and sniffed a whole vat of toxic waste. That's really the only conclusion I can come up with.

What are your thoughts?

On what? :P I've seen those sorts of comments elsewhere, so I wasn't suprised. There is some who do believe GSR has doomed and will doom the show and disgust everyone. Me, I think it's nothing to do with any ship, but CSI has been a bit... lackluster from season five or so.

I've seen those questions/comments a lot in wankdom too, but...I mean...the audacity for them to ask WP and JF specifically all those insane questions. My mind is boggled.

All the crazy stuff makes me laugh. Because I'm a smug little bitch who's had her 'ship become canon. :)

Does that make me bad?

I wonder how the GSR folks will survive the eps when William Petersen will not be around (he's taking some time to do theater productions, so Grissom will be placed into some kind of situation which takes him out of circulation for a couple of episodes before February sweeps).

Why won't he be around you say? Why because he'll be resting from the bouts of lovin' that he's getting from a one Sara Sidle of course.

See? Those questions are why I'm just enjoying that one of our local channels is rerunning CSI from the first season onwards, and why I'm not touching fandom with a ten-foot-pole. Except for this LJ, of course. :P

People are weird and insane and need a life outside of insane shipping.
