So, to watch football or newly started Battlestar Galactica? (Here in Norway, that is.) Hmm. Choices, choices.
Hum, interestingly, there's two Rose Tyler ficathons running - one open for all genres and one gen specific. Pick your poison, I guess. (I sucketh at gen, so that won't be for me.) Mmm, fic.
TVGuide asks for questions to be asked William Petersen and Jorja Fox
Of course, what they get are gems like these:
My first question is to Mr. Petersen. How do you explain to some of us fans that after six years of getting to know Gil Grissom as a highly ethical professional who always put the integrity of the lab and the investigation first, would actually turn out to be just the opposite. An unethical hypocrite, Who shucks the rules , and has an ongoing intimate relationship with a subordinate putting every investigation they work together at risk.
My second question is to Ms.Fox. Early before season 6 aired you made a comment about "Sara coming into her own this season". How on earth is sleeping with the boss coming into your own?
To the many fans of yours who are not in favour of the Grissom/Sara relationship, and who feel deeply betrayed by (1) the direction the show has taken since season 5 and confirmed in season 6, and (2) the morphing of Grissom into the callous man we saw in Way To Go, and who bears little resemblance to the wonderful Gil Grissom of the first 3 to 4 seasons, what would you say?
These many fans of yours are no longer able to rewatch past episodes because what we see on screen screams "Lies!" Of course, future episodes are pretty much out of the question.
For Ms Fox, I have no questions whatsoever.
For JF: Sara wouldn’t or couldn’t understand NO meant NO. She just didn’t get it. So why would anyone keep after someone who so plainly doesn’t want anything to do with you other then work. Don't you feel this relations now cheapens Sara.
For WP: What I'd like to know is why would Grissom go with someone who he has no chemistry with even the little bits of flirting seems forced and not at all natural, why not with someone who you couldn't miss the chemistry with like Catherine now the flirting there seemed natural.Or better yet Lady Heather what about the comments you made that Grissom helps Lady Heather because "he wants to be part of her life." or "When you find someone who may share your soul, it has an impact,". Now there's a perfect match.
Thank you for 6 incredible seasons. The Grissom & Sara storyline has touched our hearts. Never on television has there been a couple portrayed as so perfect, mature, and devoted. Do you think we'll get a few more private at-home moments between Grissom & Sara and maybe a kiss? Please?
to mr. petersen: how do you feel about the fact that viewers are finding grissom's big heart to be cold and cruel after the finale? the fact that he blew off his friendship with brass, a man who had given him the power to choose life and death in an emergency in favor of playing camera duels with a subordinate?
to ms. fox: you've previously stated that sara had moved on, that she was going to grow as an individual. now that we've had this horrible revelation do you not feel that she is taking gigantic steps backwards?
Ah, CSI fandom. Good to see it's still all about the ships.

nekare. Doctor Who. (Spoilers for Doomsday.)
Eight months later, and she finds herself alone in Liverpool’s docks after nighttime, the only sound the one of the dark waves crashing against concrete. Her hair smells like salt, and her hands are cold. If she closes her eyes, she can almost imagine another set of footsteps behind her, and she grins and starts running, stumbling a bit with the low heels she’s got on; running and running from an invisible threat just like in the old days.

Neville sits beside her helplessly. He would love to tell her that these sacrifices have to be made; that some things are greater than human life. But he's not at all sure that he believes this.

Date: 2006-08-23 08:08 pm (UTC)On ficathons... am I being persnickety in thinking the gen ficathon was sort of... out of bounds coming right on the heels of the first Rose ficathon posted? I mean, I know there's no rule about only one ficathon at a time being run, but... eh. People are weird. And that question wasn't intended to be wanky. Just wondering.

Date: 2006-08-23 08:19 pm (UTC)Excpet that the organisers of the gen one had been openly discussing it for days before the other one appeared and decided to go ahead with it because it catered for a different area of fic (and one that's been pretty negelcted, really.)

Date: 2006-08-23 08:56 pm (UTC)And I yes, I agree, as I said before, it simply means more fic for us to read. Doesn't hurt me or mine in the least to have lots of good writers with their noses to the grindstone writing about one of my favorite companions.

Date: 2006-08-23 10:19 pm (UTC)Good luck with yours, I can't sign up for it because one major ficathon at a time is all I can handle (plus the Jack crossover ficathon is still running and I need to do rewrites for that), but I'm looking forward to the fic!

Date: 2006-08-23 10:57 pm (UTC)Well, I know I saw discussion about the gen one previous to the other being posted, actually. So... *shrugs* Either way, after the series finale, ficathons are often popular. Seems to be the time for them.

Date: 2006-08-23 08:16 pm (UTC)Then again, someone posted a long rant about how promising the Grissom/Nick ship looked from season five, until the horrible travesty that was season six. Included, of course, was a fanvid.
As it is, I can't even get annoyed anymore. But I would *love* for Jorja Fox and William Petersen to give feedback on these fandom wars, hopefully along the lines of 'don't you people have real lives to worry about?'

People are weird and insane and need a life outside of insane shipping.
