*pokes CSI fandom* You're being a lot more sane than I expected after the wankimplosion over the summer. Are you all wanked out? I'm almost kind of sad, though I shouldn't be. (There was a brief play with a wee troll yesterday, but journal got baleeted pretty damn fast.)
Now, let me introduce you to Vile!Mouse:
How could Christina have been dying if she's still alive, 19 months later? Isnt't here a time limit?
(It is of course a reference to CharityWank, which was quite the charming affair all around. Course, when I read it, I spent most of my time feeling violent over the US healthcare system, which quite frankly is revolting beyond belief. Why why WHY?)
Suggestions seem to be floated it's
heidi8, which is going to lead to much wank whether it be true or not. I haven't the foggiest myself. (Don't know any of the involved, haven't seen any offered proof, have no idea if grudges are at play etc.) But oh man, chances of this getting ugly = higher than a soprano on helium.
Flee! Flee for your wankshelters! Or come hang out in mine. I'm tending the bar and vile!mice will be fed to the cat.
In other news:
Driver charged with reckless driving over reversing
Apparently, he planned to reverse 550 km to Perth, as his gears failed and he for some reason didn't call a mechanic from a nearby town. Um. Okay. Smart thinking there, assuredly. Because backing 550 km would've gone real well.
Ig Nobel winners get their honours - I think Why woodpeckers do not get headaches might be my favourite one.

Date: 2006-10-06 01:39 pm (UTC)I was a bit shocked when that mouse was pointed to me. Just because you are still alive doesn't mean you aren't dying. I mean, my grandfather had cancer for a couple of years before he finally died, and the fact he wasn't yet dead didn't make the cancer any less serious.

Date: 2006-10-06 01:49 pm (UTC)Yeah, that was my comment too. I spotted vile!mouse before anyone had replied to yet, and did quite a few brain boggles. Cripes, my grandmother had cancer and the only reason it went fairly fast with her was that her body couldn't take the chemo. Otherwise, she might've lived longer, but it was pretty clear from the start it was going to be fatal sooner or later.
Cancer's fucking nasty.

Date: 2006-10-06 02:04 pm (UTC)I'm trying to remember exactly how long my Pa's cancer went on for. I know there was a year or two, in which it was reasonably under control with chemo and all, and he seemed reasonably healthy. But 2003, I think it was, he got worse a bit rapidly, and my Mum ended up taking my sister and I to visit him fairly regularly. And it was only a few weeks after he was hospitalised that he died. *sighs* That was the most depressing Christmas ever.
I've have relatives with cancer on both sides of my family. My Pa, as mentioned, on my Mum's side, and one of my Dad's sisters had breast cancer (but surgery dealt with that).

Date: 2006-10-06 02:18 pm (UTC)My other grandparents all died of other causes, but my uncle fought cancer and won. Fingers crossed it is for good.
I'm all for being sceptic to claims online, but man, I wouldn't attck anyone having suffered or suffering cancer unless I was very, very, very, very, very sure it wasn't true.

Date: 2006-10-06 02:45 pm (UTC)My gran had cancer. It didn't kill her, directly anyway. That kind of shit-stirring by the mouse was uncalled for. Who died and made it God?
I need a drink. Got any beer?

Date: 2006-10-06 03:01 pm (UTC)Got plenty of beer. Help yourself. Have one for you gran too. I lost one of mine to cancer and it's a nasty thing to watch someone you love suffer.

Date: 2006-10-06 03:31 pm (UTC)That callous comment takes "offensive" to a new level. My grandfather has been suffering from late-stage Alzheimer's for a long time now; if anyone said that to my face about him I'd sure as hell beat the shit out of them.
I hope that rat-fucking, shit-sucking pondscum gets served and die just as slowly. >:(

Date: 2006-10-06 03:42 pm (UTC)Course, I doubt that would get said to someone's face. The Internet is quite faceless, so easier to say certain things here that you wouldn't in real life. Sometimes I think it even just makes us forget how offensive a remark can until we see the reaction to it.
Still, that one was just vile.
My sympathies on your grandfather. Cancer break down someone's body, Alzheimer does the mind. Both are nothing I'd wish on anyone.

Date: 2006-10-06 05:16 pm (UTC)I saw someone dying slowly, step by step, for a little over four years, and it is an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Not even on such a revolting person.
