Date: 2006-10-11 04:29 am (UTC)And In the End (http://community.livejournal.com/_the_firefly_/206738.html), (Firefly, Wash-centric) comes to mind first because . . . well, it's an epic that I started and actually finished. I think the plot holds up really well, that it feels in line with a lot of Joss Whedon's work and uh, I dunno. I'm just happy with it.
Luna Sea (http://community.livejournal.com/dwliterotica/21362.html), (Doctor Who, Ninth Doctor-centric) too. It came totally unexpectedly and fit together nicely, like in a dream. I'm still not entirely sure how it happened, but I'm really happy with it.
2) What Professional writer (that is, paid author) would you love to see write a fanfiction story? What ship or fandom? Tell me a little about it.
I'd love to see Neil Gaiman do some real fanfiction. He probably would too. Probably something Doctor Who. I've heard he's been asked to write for the new series but is probably too busy for it. I don't really care what ship, I'd just like to see him have free reign. He'd do something awesome, I know it.
3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?
In the early 1990s in the US, there was a show called Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates. There DOES exist fanfiction in it, and I've never read any of it, but I bet it's probably got some good stuff. So, I'd have to say that. I did love that cartoon, as a kid. I wrote Peter Pan stories as a kid. I wonder if they count as fanfiction? Haha.
4) Is there a fanfic of yours you'd like to see made into a Broadway show? Tell me about it!( "_____________: the Musical!"
Um. Probably not? Then again, a talented composer and lyricist could probably make an awesome musical out of ANYTHING, so what do I know?
5) Think about it--what could possibly be the WORST crossover out there? A story that Should Never Be Written? Hamtaro/V? Lost/Gilligan's Island? Come up with your most terrible pairing!
... man. I'm not sure--seems like no crossover could be as bad as some of the Original Character Mary Sue's out there, hahahaha. Anything that pairs antromorphs with people probably wins though. (Say, Donald Duck/Captain Kirk)

Because Tamora gets the strong-female-character thing, and she's this brilliant fantasy author and she always has a great pace with her romances. I just...I think she could capture the spirit of the show really well.
3) Math Curse fanfiction would blow my mind. Seriously.
4) I don't know about my own fic being set to music ("Subtext" wouldn't work very well. None of them would, really.) but I would love to see The Return: The Musical. Seriously.

Date: 2006-10-11 07:36 am (UTC)The series I read was of a girl who wanted to be a knight, so she disguised herself as a boy and did so. Sounds a bit cliched when you put it like that, but it was an interesting take on it; I think because she didn't skip over issues of femininity. The Lioness series, I think it was called.

"I didn't think you were all that keen on house ideas."
"No mortage with this one," he counters, and might even be sincere, though she doubts it. He chews a bit thoughtfully. "Need a place to tinker. Pete said it had an excellent basement. The neighbours won't even hear it if I accidentally reverse the time field."
"Are you planning on it?"
"No, but I could get lucky. Quite the rush. Much like inhaling helium while doing LSD in zero gravity."
She can't help but smile, but does manage a somewhat stern tone. "You haven't even asked me if you can move in."
"Questions are so burdensome when you already know the answers."
"And you know the answer to this one?"
"Yes," he says, and kisses her, toast still in his mouth. She tastes something else in his mouth too, and wonders where the heck he got ice cream so early in the morning.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" she asks, pulling away slightly, adjusting his tie.
"No. Yes. Maybe." He stares at her and seems to be looking into something else entirely at the same time. Time itself, perhaps. "I don't know what I'm looking for."
Now you give me something.

Date: 2006-10-11 05:48 am (UTC)Missing Letters: (Harry Potter, featuring
Molly and Hermione) It's AU, obviously, but it just came together so well for me. Whenever I can feature wierd objects in a female-centric genfic, it tickles me to death.
A Woman's Rebellion: (LotR, Imrahil and Ivriniel) See "wierd but everyday objects in female-centric genfic" yayness. Repeat for minor characters and a young boy's POV. (Don't ask me why, but when I feel I've got a handle on a young character, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Takes me back to the last vestige of optimism hiding behind all my cynicism.)
Valier: (Silmarillion, featuring Este, Vana, Vaire, and Nessa) It just got recced after I wrote it randomly. The gently feministic angle, the spontaneous flow of reviews when it was first written, and exactly forty-two hits on the Pit make this drabble love.
2) What Professional writer (that is, paid author) would you love to see write a fanfiction story? What ship or fandom? Tell me a little about it.
The trainwrecky part of my brain wants to see some form of collaboration between Mercedes Lackey and Robert Jordan, because she can do characters that are distinct (two-dimensional, perhaps, but distinct enough from her other major characters enough that you don't forget everyone's name), and he does battle scenes fairly well, if they aren't lost in a sea of confusing plotting and angst by a dozen different minor characters at once. Together, we'd probably get Eddingsfic, so why not go with that as the fandom?
3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?
I lurk around the edges of the Animorphs fandom, but I've never published anything in it. Any reference to the Muppets is also love. Often crack, but love.
4) Is there a fanfic of yours you'd like to see made into a Broadway show? Tell me about it!( "_____________: the Musical!"
Sure! Got the score to my Suefic right here!Nothing that I've published should be a musical, but a filk that has been taken down called "But, Mr. Elrond!" gives me very crackalious 1776/LotR bunnies...5) Think about it--what could possibly be the WORST crossover out there? A story that Should Never Be Written? Hamtaro/V? Lost/Gilligan's Island? Come up with your most terrible pairing!
Dude, I was just talking about crossing the musical 1776 with Lord of the Rings. Adams meets Elrond. And Valedmar/Wheel of Time/Belgariad was going through my head. I have no room to talk. However, Disney movie/Horror flick, in general, is probably a Bad Idea. Even if there is a spooky little kid involved with both. Digimon [or insert childish futuristic anime of your choice here] / Shinara [insert old skool, rlly serious fantasy with no basis for rapid technological evolution here] is probably a bad matchup, too.
Re: Should be asleep, but I'll play anyway...

I'd love to see Oscar Wilde tackle GSR. Because, yo, if he can't see the irony, then who could?
3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?
Jem! Truly Outrageous! I believe there is already a lot of fic based on it, so I'd just leave it alone. A bit of She-Ra would be nice, too.
4) Is there a fanfic of yours you'd like to see made into a Broadway show? Tell me about it!( "_____________: the Musical!"
I once re-wrote Disney's Beauty and the Beast to feature the cast of Buffy. I think it's the funniest thing evar, but I certainly don't want to see "Finality, & All It Encompasses" made into a musical. The wangst!

-Uhm, I guess I'm a bit proud of We'll always have Paris because it does give people the H2G2 vibe which I thought I could never write. So many people commented on it :)
2) What Professional writer (that is, paid author) would you love to see write a fanfiction story? What ship or fandom? Tell me a little about it.
- As my favourite authors are Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter and I love the books they write together I'd like to see both write fanfiction. Maybe something epic in the Whoniverse. Baxter has written for Big Finish, so there might still be a chance :)
3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?
- I loved 'Wickie and the Strong Men' as a child, a Viking boy solving problems with his wits rather than his muscles... it would amuse me to see fanfiction about it, but I wouldn't read/write it

The Impractical Nature of Idealism,(West Wing) This is probably my favourite piece of writing just for the fact that I love the way the language flows and the way it just wrote itself (which is the best kind of writing).
2) What Professional writer (that is, paid author) would you love to see write a fanfiction story? What ship or fandom? Tell me a little about it.
Terry Pratchett and Aaron Sorkin in a joint effort. Because the snark and the beauteous use of the English language would make me a very happy little fangirl. Doctor Who would be great but I'd love to see them write anything together really (maybe in the POTC fandom).
3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?
I used to love an show called Raggy Dolls about a bunch of misfit toys in a factory. In my travels across the internet I have never come across any fanfction about this show and I'm not sure there would be. Me - I'd rather do what I did as a child - write long stories about Bilbo Baggins and the Narnia books (not in the same story).
4) Is there a fanfic of yours you'd like to see made into a Broadway show? Tell me about it!( "_____________: the Musical!"
Not being a particularly musical person I'm not to sure if any of them would work that way, although I think the series I've planned out around Impractical Nature might lend itself to a good musical.
5) Think about it--what could possibly be the WORST crossover out there? A story that Should Never Be Written? Hamtaro/V? Lost/Gilligan's Island? Come up with your most terrible pairing!
West Wing/Barney. Now I've given myself nightmares *shudders* I don't think anyone has written it and if they have I do not want to ever be made aware of this fact because my brain would break forever.

Date: 2006-10-11 02:33 pm (UTC)A) Public Ememies. When I got the idea for this LOST AU, I was worried I'd gone batshit. But I wrote and posted the first chapter. And people loved it, and I realised just how much I utterly adored the idea. It's also the only fic of it's kind that I know of within the fandom...it feels nice to know that I'm not being horribly repetitive. And it's just so much FUN to write.
B) Here and Now. It's a Titanic fic set in the present day with Jack and Rose's roles reversed (he's rich, she's poor). It's my most reviewed fic, but again I like it because it's original...I've not seen anyone else write a present day Titanic fic from the same angle.
C) Journey to Darkness (Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon). It's the longest thing I've ever written, and am likely to write, at over 57,00 words (I don't do novel length). It's also got one of my most complex plots, and because it took me two years to complete I'm just proud of the fact that I even finished the monster.
2) What Professional writer (that is, paid author) would you love to see write a fanfiction story? What ship or fandom? Tell me a little about it.
I think Joss Whedon could write an amazing Dungeons & Dragons fanfic, since it's very fantasy based and has six great characters and an amazing world for him to play with.
"3) What show/cartoon/kid's book from your childhood would you be amused to see in fanfiction? Would you consider writing one for this early love?"
I'd like to see some Muppet Babies fanfic. There isn't really any, as far as I'm aware. I'd be tempted to try one out for fun if I had any plot ideas.
4) Is there a fanfic of yours you'd like to see made into a Broadway show? Tell me about it!( "_____________: the Musical!"
I think a LOST musical could be (unintentionally!) hysterical. :p

I know someone who is writing a Ninja Turtles/Pirates of the Caribbean story. It's not badly written, but it's way too weird for me. Not ALL crossover ideas are good ones. As for "should never"...I'll have to get back to you on that.

Date: 2006-10-11 03:09 pm (UTC)Noli Me Tangere - Carnivale, Iris/Tommy, Iris/Stroud, Iris/Justin. I heart this story because it was just one of those things that came in one big stream (during an English 100 class last year, after reading Thomas Wyatt). And it's probably the best Iris-voice I've written - there's such a sense of her in every part, even the Stroud and Dolan sections.
2) I'm with Van - Neil Gaiman writing ANYTHING would be the greatest thing ever.
3) I've never seen anything for it, and it's been a while since I watched it, but "Are You Afraid of the Dark" fic. Best. Nickelodeon. Show. Ever.
4) One of mine into a musical? Um, I can't see anything of mine being musical-worthy, but I think a Doctor Who musical would be ten kinds of awesome. But I don't think it'd be as cool now as it would have been with the first season, Billie, and John.
5) Rent/Anything. No. Just NO. It's really not cool to have the cast of CSI/House/Alias/TWW/etc singing "La Vie Boheme" (though I may make an exception for Prison Break and "Light My Candle") or the leads pining and "I Should Tell You"-ing. Ugh.

Date: 2006-10-12 12:43 am (UTC)Constantine Spirit Is my longest fic yet. It's the latest in my spirit series, where a spirit guides a chosen movie characher through the events of the movie. In this particular one, the spirit is guiding John Conmstantine from the movie 'Constantine.' There are others, such as Sparrow Spirit where the spirit guides Captain Jack Sparrow through the first 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' I'm really proud of both these fics, and the others in the same series. They have inspired people to write similar fics and have a small, yet strong fanbase.
2. I'd like to see Sonya Hartnett or Tony Shillitoe write fanfiction. Both are Aussie authors, and Mr Shillitoe was one of my high school english teachers. He's still the head of English Studies at my old school. Sonya mainly has young males as her main characters and she does some awesome animal imigary, though her endings are usually very dark.. As for the ship or fandom... well, really you could have them do anything, but I think Shakespeare would be really cool for them to do. I know Mr Shillitoe is a big fan already. I'd like to see Sonya do a Cats musical fanfic because she would make the cats seem more real than any amateur fanfiction writer could. (Read her novel 'Forest' if you don't believe me.)
3. All of the fandoms I loved as a kid already have fics written about them, and because I've spent too much time on GAFF, I don't want to think about the pairings that can, and have, come of them. However, if they were VERY well-written, I would love to read some (more) good Disney fics. I have considered writing some, but I'll probably never get around to it.
4. Come What May The Musical!!! It's my first multi-chapter Doctor Who fic. Lots of room for long, monologue arias and duets and angst like only Andrew Lloyd Webber can produce.
5. Well... there was that Hulk/Jasmine one I saw on GAFF... Don't think I could stand Doctor/Cassandra or Doctor/Margert (the Slitheen).

Tabitha King - Wolvie/Storm, Xmen comics, i've always wanted to see a wolvie/storm storyline, i have little patience for comics and would rather read a novel. love the way mrs. king (yes, mrs. stephen king) writes.
Stephen King- Eureka, just a general novel bc i think he'd be awesome at it.
