Now it just reminds to be seen if someone feels this OPPRESSES the RPF and makes wank. I'm thinking odds of about 3:1 for.

And how popular will the RPF comm be? Questions, questions. I ponder, I do.

When you have a Verrah Verrah secret comm, it's generally none too wise to leave the rules stressing the secrecy in a public post, is it?

Another helpful fact about for secret comms - you can hide it from your "member of" bit in your user info, but it still shows up under "Posting Access" if someone looks at the full user info. And thus someone can find it. And any unlocked posts on there.

Secret/private comms are fun, though. Everyone should have one to feel important and/or sneaky. Or two. Or three. Etc.

I'm not anti-RPF, although it isn't my usual cuppa and I didn't like what little I read of what had been posted at tennant_love. RPF is very tricky bidnez, and must be done juuuuuuust right by a skilled writer in order to take it from ewwww squick to OMG teh hot. I've read some amazing David Boreanaz/Alexis Denisof RPF that melted my socks off, but I simply couldn't read just any DB/AD smut fic without squirming in embarrassment--and not in a good way.

Yay, now I can look at tennant_love. Discussions on DT's personal life bothers me a bit. Yeah, he's a "public" figure now, but whatever he does when he's not in front of camera professionally is none of our business. As for the other part... I feel nothing but disgust at RPF. If they want to write it, whatever, but that doesn't keep the fact that it exists in the first place from squicking the hell out of me.

There's always going to be something in fandom that squicks one, really. But with a RPF comm, those who like it will know where to go and those who don't will know where not to go.

Ooh, I like that rule on bad spelling. I hate Netspeak with a vengeance. And even if it's not netspeak, I've seen people post on T&C with absolutely appalling spelling and grammar, no punctuation and no capitalisation, either. Worse still when it's fic.

Everyone makes mistakes - typos, or just words they're not sure about. But the posts where every single word is wrongly spelt, where sentences make no sense because the wrong words are used or half the sentence is omitted... argh. Especially as they're often also the ones which say precisely nothing of any relevance at all.

As for RPF, that's very definitely a personal no-go for me. I hate it and won't read it, and I always hate to think what the actors (or whoever it's about) would think if they read it. RPF in another fandom I was involved in shipped the two lead actors of the TV series together, even though one was married, and even claimed that the daughter of that marriage was actually fathered by the actor's co-star. *puke*

As for that comm, did you have to shatter my illusions? I read that userinfo last night - stumbled on the place by accident - and thought that I was special, that I'd been invited and didn't know it! Way to disappoint me. ;) Love the banning of any old-school discussion there, because don't we all know that nothing that ever happened in DW pre-2005 is of any importance whatsoever? ;) So the Doctor was a dad once; we don't care how that came about, do we? So he used to have a planet and lots of other Time Lords to play with, but we don't care who they are. And that Sarah-Jane person... *fingers in ears, la la la* She never mattered to him at all.

The Tinhats in LotR so scarred me in some ways in regards to RPF. But I do see the allure of some of it, and it has good writers, so... Eh. But I do think having its own comm is probably smart when it bugs that many people over at T!L. It mostly worries me when people start with the "actors must be having it on because the characters are!" then when it's the chemistry of the actors someone liked in the first place.

That's me you're referring to. Yes'm. Oh but it has gone well, hasn't it. No war, no complaint, only a couple of comments for the epic-author and all her fangirls have kept a lid on it. Bliss. Though she did try to argue her way out of it over on drakyndra's journal. Not very well, methinks.

It's gone quite splendidly. Hard to argue with a majority vote, that is the advantage of it.

I saw the comments over at drak's. Err. I think I'd understand better the points being made if the spelling didn't make me weep a lot.
