Random thought of the morning:

Why must 6 a.m. exist for me to get up at?

Wah.

On the bright side, no more Rumsfeld! WHEEEEE!

YES.

7 a.m. is only better by a hair, but 8 a.m. is tolerable. I could live with getting up at 8 a.m.

Eesh, six am!

Though 7am will be my regular getting-up time a week on Monday - new job starting-time is 8.30...

7 a.m. is doable, though. Sun might have started to rise, birds might chirp a little...

Oh, who am I kidding? ALL MORNINGS ARE EVIL

Throw in the fact I'm nocturnal, and it HURTS. I usually like to be up about 5 p.m.-ish, and I'll stay up until 6 or 7 a.m., given the chance.

John Stewart said on tonight's Daily Show something to the effect of:

"Two major breakups tonight from couples who swore they'd stick it out. First: Britney Spears and Kevin Federline."

::audience "Awwws""::

"Second: Donny Rumsfeld and Georgie Bush."

::audience goes apeshit wild, cheering::

Well, if you're curious, they've started posting the entire shows on the Comedy Central site. Their video viewer's a little buggy with my Firefox but if you can, it's definitely worth catching a show or two.

I've had four cups of coffee already.

Did my package make it there yet, BTW? The ones I sent to the US at the same time have arrived there days ago, so WTF Italian post?

I quite agree on all points:

6 am is evil, evil, evil!

Yesterday, I was having lunch with a fellow liberal colleague--ostensibly to talk about a project but spending a good deal of time mulling the election.

We walked out of the restaurant, and there is a big-screen TV feed on the building across the street.

There it was! O Beautiful Headline, O Words of Glory, O Announcement of all Light and Joy Returning to the Shores of North America:

RUMSFELD STEPPING DOWN!

I couldn't get the words out; he wasn't looking at it, and I just squeaked and pointed frantically.

There followed a most heartfelt collective gasp of, "YES!!!"

It's been a lovely 48 hours.

I imagine it has been for Democrats, yes. Doubly so after the misery of past elections.
