Because this deals with potential - well, very potential - spoilers I'm sticking it all behind a LJ-cut.
And then doom was predicted. Err, possibly.* (You have to be a member of YTDAW to read the posts.)
*The "Anti/Jealous Fan e-mailing David Rambo" is of course a reference to the infamous SpoilerGate that rocked fandom. Or something. Makes me wonder if we'll have yet more daftery concerning it.
A letter campaign is launched
People react at TalkCSI as well, in vague ways
People at Elyse's react in not so vague ways (Bonus fight over whether or not spoilers can be reposted there.)
To summarize: Something bad might happen in GSRland. Maybe. This bad is vague. So is whether or not it will happen. It's all so very vague, actually. It's like VagueDoomGate. And of course, news of this has already spread far and wide in fandom to opposing shipper groups, so I predict wank within a week.
And potentially letter wars.
Elsewhere on the World Wide Web and in the World Wide World:
Mormon underwear wank (No, seriously. That's what it is.)
Owner refuses to tear down condemned barn due to underworld creatures (Ooookay.)
Is having friends with different interests for you bad? (Childfree doesn't want to be friends with "breeders", as it turns out.)
The dollar falls some more. (Which is good if you're an European and importing from the US - DVDs, whee - but potentially quite bad otherwise.)
Fighting over whether or not to call the situation in Iraq 'civil war' (Which might see like a trivial thing, but words have power and which ones you use can be everything.)
Elton John gives Australian PM John Howard a talking to (I must admit 'up yours' is about the nicest thing I've ever want to say to John Howard.)

Date: 2006-11-29 07:13 pm (UTC)Off my flist, you liberal, atheistic, Europeanish-type person, you!
Gyads. If I were friends only with people who shared my views, 99.9% of my flist wouldn't be my flist.

Date: 2006-11-29 07:49 pm (UTC)Seriously, and same for me (though I'm not quite at 99.9% myself). It's comforting having some friends with very similar viewpoints and interests, but I've learned it's important to be friends (even if not bestest friends ever) with different sorts of people as well--it certainly teaches me to watch my mouth and be open-minded and tactful better than pretty much anything else does. *shrug*

Date: 2006-11-29 09:59 pm (UTC)I belong to a local childfree club. We hang out and eat and go to movies and pretty much discuss anything under the sun except children, though most of us are guilty of whipping out photos of nieces and nephews once in a while. In other words, no one would know there was any unifying factor in the group unless they asked.
But sheesh, there are some folks out there who are downright nasty. Is there really any need to call a child a 'crotch dropping'?
*sigh*
Completely OT
Date: 2006-11-29 08:50 pm (UTC)Oh, and don't worry, you'll get one from me, too. It's just that I usually don't do anything Christmassy before December the First and/or the first Sunday of advent, so I tend to send my cards by mid-December.

Date: 2006-11-30 06:37 pm (UTC)As for Mormon underwear wank, I've had Mormon patients...If they want to wear whatever, whose business is it, sheeh...I've had ultra religious Jewish patients as well...There are underwear parameters there, too...For cryin' out loud...If Gawd exists, does anyone really think he/she/they gives a crap about underwear???...
CSI:VagueDoom wank...I was PM'd by someone who is a Grissom fan and has been a member "over there" for years and amoung those "in the know"...Apparently Grissom fans go there for the spoilers & pix & such, but it's supposedly well known that certain mods and one particular member who pours money into the site, instigate this type of "bombard TPTB" behaviour whenever possible...
I do know that I've spent time going through the member's list and notice a large number in the teen and college-aged crowd...Not to say that all are, but I did notice...I was curious as to why a certain group responds the way the do...Not very scientific, but it is there for anyone to look at...So, why not?...
I dunno cuz I've only been in the fandom since Summer, but I do see a sorta cultish bent "over there"...It might simply be my take on it all, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a huge Costco sized tin of KoolAid charged to thier account one of these days...
Interestingly enough, one of the gals who poured petrol on the most recent fire "over there" involving "ABS" posts at another CSI related site where she mentioned having "hated Sara with a passion"...I just read the same gal posting spoilerish info she got from "over there" to a totally different site...And they call me duplicitous...It's all too funny...
ABS;)

Date: 2006-12-01 12:37 pm (UTC)I've had my clashes with people on YTDAW - and mods - and I certainly have people there I actively dislike, but I certainly wouldn't paint anyone with the same coat just because of that.
Given that anti-GSRs have had letter campaigns like whoa, I do wonder if this is "getting back" in this everlasting war of the ships. Groan.
