And the flagging is for tbe Norwegian King, who turns 70 today. Happy birthday, King! It's also the day I was born 27 years ago, so happy birthday, me!
I got a few gifts already. Saz sent me some Doctor Who with Two, which will be interesting to watch. Got a book on Italians from Elisa and got some cute figures from Jen. Thank you all :) I expect there shall be more gifts later today. I did get cake already. Mmm, cake.
So here's a meme for the occasion - what's the weirdest thing anyone has ever given you for your birthday?

Date: 2007-02-21 11:42 am (UTC)I got used cat litter, with kitty poop in it, in a bag, for a birthday present once. My friend thought it'd be funny. I thought it was gross and stupid, of course. Sigh.

Date: 2007-02-21 11:58 am (UTC)Ah, poop humour. Always a "classic". I hope the year after wasn't the dog version.

Date: 2007-02-21 11:42 am (UTC)The weirdest present I ever got was from the mother of my now-ex-boyfriend was a paperback copy of Silence of the Lambs, a book/movie in which I had never expressed any interest in her presence. In hindsight, probably a good thing she's not my mother-in-law.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:05 pm (UTC)Huh. Maybe it was a last-minute gift from a newsstand or something? That could explain it, as it's not always the greatest selection there.

Date: 2007-02-21 11:52 am (UTC)We beat you at coldness though: -22 here this morning.
I don't think I ever got any birthday presents that would be weird enough to mention.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:15 pm (UTC)Brrr. Finland is a bit colder than Norway in temp, though. We got the Gulf Stream heating some. We do have cold, cold winds from the sea, though. Today had one. They said on the news that it made it as cold as -25 would be. Brrrr.
For shame!

Date: 2007-02-21 11:59 am (UTC)Weirdest gift? Unfortunately, most of my gifts have been kind of pedestrian. I did convince my brother to buy me a piercing for my 21st - navel. He shook his head and mumbled away, but did it anyway.
Have a terrific day. :)

Date: 2007-02-21 12:12 pm (UTC)Weirdest gift I got for not my birfday but Christmas were two: a blank CD (I insisted that my friend give me an original CD for Christmas, so he bought an original blank CD from Sony) and a katol, which is like this spiral candle thing to drive away mosquitos and flies. It doesn't even cost more than $1 US.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:18 pm (UTC)That's... Weird. The last one sounds like something you just had lying around your car, wtf?

Date: 2007-02-21 12:15 pm (UTC)I don't know if this really counts as weird (maybe only slightly odd), but last year I got a box set of old monster movies from my brother. It's not the movies that I found weird (they're the old b&w Frankensteins, Draculas and Wolfmans), but the fact that my dear brother had bought the (probably kinda expensive) set which included the little collectible monster busts as well. I mean, sure, I have LotR collectibles and so on, but a Wolfman bust? Now they sit on my windowsill and I'm still a bit confused about what to do with them. :) But the movies are funny.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:20 pm (UTC)Um, I don't get a lot of weird birthday presents... I had a friend wrap my present last year in paper with lots of tiny rappers all over it, calling it "rapping paper"... but inside was a mini TARDIS <3 so it was all good =)

Date: 2007-02-21 12:21 pm (UTC)My great aunt gave me a plastic purse when I was fourteen, which matched the plastic satchel she'd given me when I was six.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:31 pm (UTC)This wasn't a birthday gift, but it was a Christmas gift: my grandmother gave me a purse with several litle things in it - one of which was a cigarette holder. I don't smoke. Nor would I want to.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:42 pm (UTC)The weirdest birthday gift I can think of is what my dad got me for, I think, my 16th birthday. No, not a car or something else a newly mobile teenager would want, but a lamp made out of an actual clarinet, with keys and all. I played clarinet, but I really didn't understand the gift or like it. Years later, now I love it. It has moved with me to 3 states.

Date: 2007-02-21 12:56 pm (UTC)I'm trying to think what the weirdest present I've gotten is. And I can't come up with anything off the top of my head. It's all either cool stuff, or boringly practical things, like an electric blanket.

Date: 2007-02-21 03:24 pm (UTC)Don't know if it was wierd, but last year Steve asked what I wanted & I told him a Tivo. And he actually bought it. Probably just wierd for the fact that I actually got what I wanted.

Date: 2007-02-21 04:32 pm (UTC)And I'm not sure what the weirdest thing I've received is. I got a Powerpuff Girl activity set when I was in high school, and it had all kinds of PPG stickers and markers and the like and was in a Buttercup shaped container. I still have that, though. Saved the stickers.
