The new series of Doctor Who is almost upon us, and fandom is sure to be fandom and divide itself into parts complaining and parts squeeing and frequently get confused over doing both. Are you all excited yet?

So, before you get yourself a whole new load of those, how about a fandom confessional? Confess one squee, one complaint, one cracked pairing you'd totally enjoy on the show and one thing you're confused about or never understood. (Bashing's taking it too far and will be deleted.) Do it anon, do it signed, I don't care. Make it about fandom, the show, BBC's websites, whatever strikes your fancy. Make it something you might not have mentioned too much or at all before.

A squee: I got the most made of win Christmas card. Martha's hand look so very pretty in Ten's. Yes.
A complaint: If I see one more post with "Mods, feel free to delete this if OT", I am likely to hit someone with a lobster. Mods don't need anyone's permission to delete. That's why they're mods. It's you who sould've checked with them if it was okay first, rather than trying to cover up with a lame, lazy sentence.
A cracked pairing: Jamie/Martha.
A thing I don't get: Why so many want to shag Jack? I no get.

A complaint: It's one as old as teh intarwebs themselves, but it's never struck me quite this way before. I saw a random wank-attack tonight - I won't say where precisely - on the comments of a good and very uncontroversial story, left by someone who has been on my flist for quite a while. I am full of sadness. Why wank, people? Why flaming and jumping to conclusions? I thought you were cool!
A cracked pairing: being a fan of Stargate: Atlantis has broken my crackdar. Now no pairing, no situation, and no kind of sexual deviancy looks impossible, in any fandom.
A thing I don't get: people who piss on the squee. I mean, I know: open post, free internet and whatnot, but... you can see someone's squeeing. They are full of love. Why leave a comment about how much you thought the squee-object actually sucks balls? Why make them feel bad for their adoration? Surely it can be saved for your own LJ? Won't somebody think of the children?

A complaint: I really wish my friends would just stfu about the new season on AIM to me. I am getting sick of going ":-)", "cool", and "yeah" for 90% of the conversation because apparently "I don't get into the new seasons until halfway because I'm usually still sad about something in the old so please go squee to A, B, C, or D, not me" doesn't compute.
A cracked pairing: Ten/John Whathisface from Whatshisface's Nightside books.
A thing I don't get: Why people are all ";_; NO MORE ROSE NO MORE ME WATCHING". Uh, guys, that happens all the freakin' time in Who. Get the fuck over it, even if it takes you half a season every time.

Jack: Uber shaggable because A) no strings attached for real. B) Probably good in bed. C) Willing to shag anyone and everything and mmmm threesomes are in. D) Fun and brainless. I'd tap that!

A squee: NEW CANON. I seriously don't need more than that. Just seeing the TARDIS again fills me with yay.
A complaint: A lot of fandom's woeful ignorance of the previous 40 years of canon history. Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
A cracked pairing: While Jamie/Martha is extremely tempting, I'll go with Victoria/Reinette because I think they'd be absolutely smashing together. Yes. Victoria and Reinette traveling with Eighth, please. Oh, the decadence!
A thing I don't get: Why anyone likes Torchwood at all. This goes hand-in-hand with why do so many people want to shag Jack. I don't get it either. He doesn't even wear a kilt.

A complaint: I agree with the "Mods..." thingmabob, I also can't get why anyone will stop watching because Rose isn't there anymore. It's the format, fcol! The Doc actor or the companion actor is going to leave eventually, but the show's gonna go on!

Complaint: Oh, for god's sake, could we mix it up a little with the companions? Some men, maybe a couple? Really, do they all have to be nubile, shaggable young women?

Thing I Don't Get: Why Sarah Jane was so popular. I couldn't stand the character, back in the day. (I quite liked her turn in the new series, and the pilot for her show was good, but in the 70's? :P Bleah.)

A squee: Finally we'll find out a) How Martha gets in the picture and b) How and why the Doctor comes back for Jack (Oh God, I hope there's at least a little explanation or something for the sake of the end of fic that speculates on either of the two happenings.)
A complaint: Those that consistently post spoilers above a cut. IE articles and pictures of casting decisions...
A cracked pairing: Hex from the audiobooks and Jack... because you just know all Hex would be able to say is: "Oh my GOD!"
A thing I don't get: The same as one of your other friends wrote, the no more Rose means no more watching. Seriously, it's not like Billie was fired, she wanted to leave so get over it and support her if you're a so called true fan.

I honestly have no idea what it is about Jack. But he's quite handsome... I think maybe it's the braces because I really didn't find him all that attractive until Torchwood.

A squee: Basically, the fact that Doctor Who is back at all, plus the fact that it's been renewed for a third season. I still marvel at those facts; I don't have much luck with TV shows I like.

A complaint: BBC America, you replaced Doctor Who with Robin Hood. Freakin' ROBIN HOOD. Which SUCKS. by the way. Honestly, couldn't you get some of the old school Who and show that in some slot or other? Yes, the special effects are cheesy, but I still love it.

And you, Sci-Fi Channel. Why won't you buy Torchwood? WHY?

A cracked pairing: I'm torn between Tegan/Turlough and Doctor/Master.

A thing I don't get: The insistence in the fandom that Rose is the Doctor's One True Love. I mean, I'm not questioning that he loves her...but I think he loved all of his companions. Does love somehow become less valuable when there are more people to share it with?

Squee: Eccelston and Tennant both equal yum and are quite shaggable.
Complaint: I've actually only managed to see a mere half-dozen episodes since they started airing the new seasons, from Eccelston's first episode up until now.
Cracked pairing: Nine/Jack
Thing I don't get: Why must they put the show on at such an awkward hour over here? 9 p.m. on a Friday is prime time, and there's other great shows on at the same time.


Also, Jack is cute. It's the cheekbones, for me.

A complaint: Why can't we just all get along, folks? It sounds cheesy, but major wanks (in any fandom) tend to get on my nerves, as I believe in sensible discussions that can end in "okay, this is the point where there's really nothing left than to agree to disagree".

A cracked pairing: In this fandom, people are shipping sentient police boxes or talking penguins. Nothing's impossible, dude.

A thing I don't get: Why anyone bothered with more than an episode of Torchwood. Still haven't seen more of it.

A complaint: I'm really rather tired of all the b*tching and moaning about Rose and the upcoming Martha episodes. Give the gal a chance, people. And, please, don't bash Rose now that she's gone. Some folks happened to like her. Besides, Doctor/Rose will go the same path as Five/Tegan. The companion might be gone, but the ship lives on.

A cracked pairing: Frobisher/Master (A talking penguin and the Master...what's not to find cracked? ;))

A thing I don't get: I'm echoing seti_drd with this one. Why won't people just give Martha a chance? We haven't even seen her yet. Then decide if she's another Mel (or Peri).

A complaint: None, at the moment, although I'm sure I'll have many soon. Perhaps that Moffat has the Doctor-light episode this year?

A cracked pairing: Sam/Remus/Ten. Yes.

A thing I don't get: Rose. Why is anyone complaining about her departure? Welcome to Doctor Who. Companions leave.

I've got to think about the squee/complaint thing, but while I'm here: IS it on topic or not to post, say, a link to a fic recommendation list on T&C? Fic itself is on topic, but asking about a fic you remember is off-topic, and the rules don't say one way or another about recommendations. There have been some enjoyable "recommend an obscure fic" threads, but I'm never sure whether they're slipping under the radar or are genuinely okay.

I've let them be, provided they're Doctor/Rose related. I don't think there has been a clear policy on whether or not they've been allowed, really. I might formulate one with Saz one of these days.

I'm not as enthused about just linking to rec lists. Those seem more at place at who_daily, but I haven't really made up my mind yet. Asking for recs in the comm open for more comm involvement, so that I'd be for allowing.

I'm letting them be for now, I think. Then we'll see. Any change in policy will be announced properly, have no fear.

But I do understand what you mean, everyone in the TW fandom fancys Ianto, yet I don't find him remotely attractive, and add irritating and poorly developed and no consistent characterization to that, me no likely Ianto. :)

A complaint: David Tennant annoys the heck out of me. Really. But I'm hoping that he will be less annoying without Rose. (I loved Rose with CE, but Rose and DT were a train wreck. IMHO of course.)

A cracked pairing: I've seen all of Torchwood. I don't think anything in Who will strike me as cracked after that. But I'd love to read some Jack/Ace. Jack likes to shoot things, Ace likes to blow things up. It would be a beautiful relationship.
