The sort of news that makes you want to throw things

I am dead. I am zombie!Cam. I blame World of Warcraft for this, as it made me do an instance with the guild last night far into the night. Stupid addictive game.

Sensible LJ replies (including the drabbles I still have to do) will have to wait until my brain gives up its zombie status.

Meanwhile, everyone in Norway are talking about these murders, which is just... Yeah. What that article doesn't mention but has now come out is that the guy has also been charged with sexual abuse of a minor. Which either means the killer raped and then killed the seven year old, or raped the ten year old who survived. Or both, a charming thought. The last thing in your life shouldn't have to be enduring a rape. Or watching your kid endure one. And of course, since the adult was eight months pregnant, it was pretty much murder of the twins she was carrying too.

The fuckedupness of the whole thing is just staggering. What a thing to live with for the surviving kid. And the fact that the alleged murderer has come from a country suffering under a fairly foul dictatorship with documented use of torture isn't lost on me either. Humans are ever so good of fucking up other humans.

The whole thing just makes me want to throw up a little, really. And makes retreating into a fictional world seem not so dumb at times. Because this world we have right now? Some serious upgrades and patches needed. (And I'm saying this as someone very fond of life in general, mind you.)

I can't understand why. Why hurt children? Whywhywhy? How could somebody's heart be so hardened that a crying woman wouldn't make them want to do anything to help- but instead make them want to hurt?

It's so awful, it's the kind of thing that gives me nightmares.
