Meme I nicked from [livejournal.com profile] vartanluvva:

Get To Know Your F-List Week!
Every day I'll ask two random questions. All you have to do is answer them.

Today's two questions:
1. What's the most embarassing object you keep on your desk?
2. Paste me the last text you did a copy and paste on.

My answers:
1. A Dalek bottle-opener.
2. Totalt antall linjer: 85
Antall linjer ikke levert: 10
Antall linjer del-levert: 1

In the news:

There are no words for this.

For three days and three nights, these African migrants clung desperately to life. Their means of survival is a tuna net, being towed across the Mediterranean by a Maltese tug that refused to take them on board after their frail boat sank. (...) The Maltese captain of the Budafel refused to land the men, he later explained, because he had $1m-worth of tuna in the pen. If he had taken them to Malta, the trip would have taken 12 days, given the tug's slow speed. There, he would have found himself in the middle of a diplomatic wrangle. "I couldn't take the risk of losing this catch," he said.

(You can see the picture here.) So much bloody fail, Europe (and Libya). Yeah, immigration is a serious issue and there's a whole bunch of conflicts going on, but these are human lives. 27 people stuck on a fishing pen for three days, for crying out loud.

The tuna should be donated to smack-deserving-people-with-a-fish foundation, if you ask me. It's severely needed.

Also, WTF is this?

A Dutch TV station says it will go ahead with a programme in which a terminally ill woman selects one of three patients to receive her kidneys.

.. Ow. I mean, a show following organ donation? Could be a very good thing, spreading awareness and all. (If I drop dead in such a way my organs can still be used, I've asked my family to please agree to organ donation.) But the form of that program makes me want to ward myself with crosses and I'm not even religious. Probably shouldn't have watched The Exorcist before going to bed, hmm.

Poland's taking up Jerry Falwell's fine tradition, it seems.

In the fandom:

GLOOM. DOOM. ANGST. WAAAANK.

Did I miss anything?

I hope I'm understanding the meme right...

1. What's the most embarassing object you keep on your desk?: Either my medications, my glow-in-the-dark rat, or the photo of my grandparents, whichever one would actually call "embarrassing."

2. Paste me the last text you did a copy and paste on: http://pics.livejournal.com/pulsarkat/pic/008qf5a7/g550

And as for

"I couldn't take the risk of losing this catch," he said.

"Couldn't" is an interesting choice of wording when money is involved. *fumes*

Depends on what you consider embarrasing--for example, I have this postcard of a moose threesome, sent to me by yours truly that I use as a bookmark. After that, I guess the picture of Willism Petersen, naked would qualify.

last cut and paste was the Addy of someone from my Guestbook, so I won't put it here, but that's what it was.

1. Well, the most embarrassing thing would have to be the mess ;-)

As for object - probably the glass bottle of Perrier mineral water that I bought years ago and still haven't gotten rid of (it's sell-buy is 2002 *headdesk*)

2. I noticed the two were similar but was a bit dismayed that everyone thought they were absolutely the same theme.

1) Um, probably a photo of me and my siblings when we were kids.

2) (I had to read the question a couple of times before I got it.) From a friend's entry: Does anyone know of any awesome Torchwood/PotC crossover fic??? After seeing AWE (loved it!) I decided the world NEEDS Captain Jack Harkness/Captain Jack Sparrow.

I must say, I agree with her wholeheartedly.

So much bloody fail, Europe (and Libya).

Spain has finally agreed to take the immigrants. Way too late, but at least ACNUR will be taking care of them (and hopefully they'll be granted asylum).

1. What's the most embarassing object you keep on your desk? either a pikachu-shaped rubber (taken from a kid, who was playing with it in class) or a copy of The Rules of Modern Policing, 1973 edition (a Life on Mars collectible item).

1. I don't really have a desk. We have a kitchen table and lounge, where we just seem to spread our stuff out on. Most embarrassing thing on the table? Either the huge amount of dirty coffee cups surrounding me after a day off, or the huge amounts of medication I had to take to stop my tooth falling out. That's pretty damn embarrassing.

2. LOL my bank account number. So you probably shouldn't know that...

Heh. Most of us sane organ donors, like yours truly, aren't happy with the show either. It's tacky, to say the least. Then again, the whole issue around donation has turned wanky again. Seriously, a couple of years ago, healthy people were being called egoists by kidney-patients, for not giving up their kidneys to them. Not really making me sympatethic to the cause here.

1. I don't have anything embarassing here. It's the dining-room table. My previous desk had coffee-stains and pictures in pencil on it. And I can't draw.

2. [I gots nothing to be copied and pasted right now. Woe.]

1) A Snape hand puppet
2) Perhaps more than any other theatrical device, music is capable of indicating to an audience a change of tone within the drama. Shakespeare realized this more than any other dramatist of his day. ‘Atmospheric music' is the most subtle of the four categories because it is concerned with such intangibles as mood, tone and emotional feeling, and because it may involve changes from suspicion to trust, from vengeance to forgiveness or from hatred to love. Homophobic Poland may be, but the producers of Teletubbies are definitely stereotyping Tinkie-Winkie as the typical homosexual. It be not cool. (Don't mind my sentence structure...My brain's fried from exams, and I only just now noticed it's a little off.)

So much bloody fail, Europe (and Libya)

Oh, I know. The sad thing is this piece of news caused quite a stir only because the poor sods had to hang to that fishing thing for 3 days. I think that most Italians don't even raise an eyebrow at the 'stranded migrants rescued from death somewhere between Sicily and Lybia' news anymore since shipwrecks (or migrants simply being abandoned at sea) are almost daily occurrences.

Surely we cannot value human lives so little. It makes me so sad.

1)I can't think of anything truly embarrassing on my desk. Maybe a print-out of Harry Potter meta counts, though?
