List of minor annoyances:

- Spent yesterday in bed due to Special Extended Painful Edition of monthly fun.
- Thunderstorm knocked the Net out. Net still out today, I can only access it at work. BUT WHY IS MY WOW GONE?! Telenor better fix this very fast or I'll feel all deprived.
- Permission is requested to post a pimp of another comm's event at T&C and then pimp gets posted without even waiting for the reply. This makes Cam a cranky mod.
- Three people at work are about to take a holiday and I can feel the extra workload coming like an ache in my bones.
- NSB has started their summer train schedules, but since not everyone has gone on summer holidays yet, trains are crowded and often delayed. Boo, hiss, grrr etc. Man, I wish I lived within biking distance of work.
- My Italy trip is still a month away. Wah!

Of other notes:

- Germany versus Tom Cruise, the wank edition.

- A footballer in Norway has managed to get three red cards in four days. OMG. This has to be a record. (He managed this because he got the first in Fredrikstad's elite match against Strømsgodset, then the second in a second division match for Fredrikstad's second team and the third in Fredrikstad's cup match - which they lost to a second division team, by the way.) One-handed clap! This has of course launched a million jokes here in Norway. Heh.

- Egyptologists claim to have identified the 3,000-year-old mummy of Hatshepsut, Egypt's most powerful female ruler. If true, awesome!

- *waves bye to Blair* Byeeee!

- Writing a bit on a fic I've called The Art of Not Doing Sex (Aka Five Times the Doctor Used Euphenisms and One Time He Didn't) which so far is Barbara/Ian (sort of) and Doctor/Rose. I also want to do it Doctor/Martha and Doctor/Master, but that could get tricky and maybe I have to wait on the finale to make it not contradict stuff. Hmm. Choices, choices.

- Bro is trying to get me hooked on Heroes. Hmmmhmmmm.

- I'm reading far too much WWII books of late. First a biography on Eva Braun (which was very interesting), then a book on the sinking of Scharnhorst and now part of Goebbles' diary (which is utterly revolting reading in a total WTF way, I might add). Why are so horrifying things so fascinating?

In today's meme:
You may take over two TV shows/books/games/anime/whatever else you like. You may make one change to it - add a character, remove a character, resolve a plotline differently, add a plotline, make one character wake up in the shower and think a particular season a horrid dream - and so on. What would you pick and what are your changes?

Heroes - made of win. Listen to your brother for he speaks truth and goodness. *nods vehemently*

And hmm, meme. pretends Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks NEVER HAPPENED I'll, er, have to think about it.

He'd undoubtedly be very pleased to hear you say so ;) Actually, him and I rather do share taste in things, so chances are good when he likes something, I will too. (And vice versa.)

The good thing about that two-parter is at least that DALEKS LIVE.

I'd pick Smallville for one of the fandoms to change, but there's so much I want to fix about it, I don't know where to begin. I think taking Lana out would be a good start though. My God, she annoys me.

And I'd change something about Doctor Who. I'd give the 9th Doctor at least one more season. Then at the end, they can still do the 'Parting of the Ways' stuff, but at least we'd have more of the 9th Doctor.

Smallville is a bit like a plane that fell from the sky and got hit by a train carrying five semi-trailers, innit? It's just a wreck you have to boggle.

Heroes is awesome!

As to the meme: I would have Lucy Saxon be a humanised Romana and the Master is hiding the fobwatch. Martha's gonna save the world by opening the fobwatch and turning her back into Romana. In consequence, Romana III and Martha team up. Martha's gonna save the Doctor and Romana is gonna kill the Master, because he hypnotise her and made her marry him, human style.

Heroes is incredible. You won't regret it.

Doctor Who - I could bitch about general plots, but mostly what I'd change is the canonical suggestions that Rose > any other companion ever and possibly the whole "companion lurves her some Doctor" whether it's requited or not. Let 'em be best friends in space, the fans'll add the rest anyway.

Oh, and I'd make Sarah Jane adventures longer than just 10 1/2 hour episodes and let Lis Sladen do some Torchwood appearances.

From: [identity profile] everysecondtues.livejournal.com
Torchwood: I would make some change involving Owen. I'm not certain what, at the moment, but changes would be made . . . probably involving him being completely replaced by a character that is not canonically a rapist.

Donald Strachy books/movie series/Third Man Out: More Kenny. There would be much, much more Kenny. Remaining single and awesome and tormenting his boss by being proficient and concerned with his health and having more discussions with Timmy during which they "solve" Don's cases.

Okay, wait, I just realized that I want to take the first one back. Instead of Torchwood, I would say Doctor Who, and some means of bringing back Romana (like maybe she's still in that alternate dimension and comes back and is all WTF happened to everyone and this time lives up to all of the potential her character had).

I love how the son of the man who Tom Cruise is going to portray was all "get your hands off my father".

As for the meme:

Battlestar Galactica - I wouldn't kill off Billy in the second season. It would have been interesting to see what would've happened between him and Dee, not to mention the possibility of him being another "sleeper" Cylon.

Voyager - Yeah, that whole "Paris and Janeway turn into lizards" episode? It. Never. Happened.

From: [identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com
I'd want Tom Cruise to keep his hands off my father too, actually.

But the lizard episode is awesome! It's like a filmed badfic! I laugh and laugh and laugh, especially at them lizard babies. Muhahaha.

The biggest problem in the Cruise/ Stauffenberg-case is not the german government but the Stauffenberg family. Originally they were informed that Thomas Kretschmann (The Piano, King Kong) would play the role of their father and grandfather, but then suddenly Tom Cruise was to replace him. And his reputation is (sadly enough) not good enough any more to make them feel comfortable with the prospect of having him of all people portray one of the very few true heroes Germany was able to produce during the Nazi time. This has nothing to do with politics, only with personal feelings (which I wholeheartedly share).

From: [identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com
From what I understand, Tom Cruise has made some rather degrading remarks about Germany. I'm sure that doesn't help.

Certainly not. Once I used to cherish him as an actor, and he even regained my respect after The Last Samurai (where he admittedly did a marvelous job), but I know too much about Scientology and have seen too much of the behavior Cruise showed lately to even consider that he might be the right one to do this movie... or to express his opinion about my country.

*shakes head*

*adds to the Heroes is Win votes*

the Meme: I was just thinking about this for a particular show the other day. Can't remember it.

Though, Spider-Man three: I would have saved Venom for the fourth movie and not killed off Harry.

His Majesty's Dragon (I think it's called something different on your side of the world) I would have done the dragons differently.

You will love Heroes for it is made of distilled geekdom, references to anything sci-fi from Ray Bradbury to Back to the Future to Star Trek, subdued pathos and BRAAAINS! It's crack, crack I tell you. Also, there is an online comic which contributes to the story.

(I'm not stalking you - this is just the third lj nick I am trying on for size; was dalinae:-)
