For the love of God, leave me a fricken comment. I know people are reading it. Stop lurking.

Says author. Can you imagine how well that goes down? Yes, I'm sure you can.

More race debate in Doctor Who fandom input, which I link to without comment. You can make up your own minds - but as always, it helps not to have it made up in advance. (There is one thread in there that me and Saz hiss, however. See if you can guess which one.)

All this is only warm-up for Wankalypse with Harry Potter, starring an about-to-be released children's book that makes many adults impressingly batshit. In other words, the new Harry Potter book is out this weekend. Take cover. (Smart ones already has, as there is spoiler-wanks about.)

Blah, blah, me stuff:

- Nine days to Italy trip, and I have gotten a summer haircut just for it. Not much summer in Norway. Rain, rain, overcast, windy, thunder, rain, rain, rain. Hate for the weathergods. Boo!

- I'm going to have to bribe one of your dears to make something graphic again. It's 4-5 icons and a banner - ship-stuff and WoW-stuff, basically. Name your price. Please?

- Secondly, I'm kinda keen on trying my hand on writing a remix fic just once, at least. So would one of you out there be interested in letting me remix one of your fanfics and you do one of mine?

- I'm reading Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion", which is a very interesting book, but he keeps distracting me with mentions of his wife. Which is Lalla Ward. My brain thus starts thinking about Doctor Who stuff. Bad brain.

- It amuses me at work I've become official Google Girl. Whenever someone wants something found on the Net, they come to me. Yay Google-fu! This includes chemical compounds I've never heard of doing stuff I didn't know was legal. Live and learn, truly.

- Leaked HP spoilers on the Net made it to the front page of Norway's biggest newspaper today. I find this vaguely amusing.

- There will be a new raiding instance for World of Warcraft. This makes me pleased and is a true sign I'm just hopelessly doomed to WoW-addiction. Forest trolls!

How be life with you?

Ug. I'm just going to keep away from the DW race thing. That's too much for me. They have a coloured companion, but they don't do her 'right'... whatever the hell that means.

*drinks a wankshelter shot*

Sometimes I wish I could say that thing about lurking without commenting/reviewing too. It annoys me when people read, but don't take the time to say "I thought it was really good" or whatever. Still... no need to be rude asking for comments.

Eh... kids these days.

I think every author ever at some point has wanted to go "GIVE ME FEEDBACK LOVE ME LOVE ME". I mean, with something you've usually put so much effort into, it's normal to crave some recognition. But not only was this chick quite loud and rude about it, she deleted actual comments of constructive critisism and got wankly like whoa.

Impressive, I say.

I tend to be a lazy person when reviewing, liking to read and then toddle off with plans to review later that never get accomplished.

I had the entire book, but deleted it deciding I can wait until the weekend. Normally I'd read the whole book in one sitting, but I think I'll take my time with DH Not to mention I have amazing plans for the rest of the day which involve sitting outside in the middle of winter for hours waiting for hellogoodbye.

I'll probably read the last page first. I am naughty like that. Don't think I have any plans for it except that I'll probably read it at the train to and from work. That's my reading time. Go through quite a few books that way, actually.

Wow. That is... precious.

- It amuses me at work I've become official Google Girl. Whenever someone wants something found on the Net, they come to me. Yay Google-fu!

Me too! Though in my case it was more "we got this deposit from xyz company, and we have no idea who they are or what they're paying for" So I would google xyz and discover their trading name is abc, and then we'd be able to figure out what they were paying for. Surpriingly, none of the other even thought of this method...

Remix eh? What's the deal there? Sounds sort of fun, though I do already still owe you a fic and three others to ficathons. *sheepish*

From: [identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com
Hehehe. I think we're just so used to using the Internet for just everything, whereas the older generation (to which my colleagues largly belong) just aren't used to it and might not feel comfortable.

In my case, they usually ask me to find out who we can buy xyz chemical compound from (usual one of medical quality). I often have to google what the hell the compound is first.

remix - well, basically, you take the premise or initial plot of another's fanfic and write it in a different way. Often by changing the genre or one aspect of the plot or even the POV. It's popular in some circles, others hate it.

Deleting concrit is just - stupid. Really, why post in lj if you don't want help improving your writing? I mean, praise is always nice, but since this is such a hang-out for writers and would-be writers, you get the best concrit here. Like the post says, go back to ff.net if all you want is mindless praise.

I'm all "meh" about HP: DH coming out, though I do want to read it. B&N screwed up my order because I moved in between the time they sent it to the shipping warehouse and actual shipping, so the book is going to my old address. I'm guessing I spent $20 giving the new tenant a present. *sigh*

Summer haircut will come in handy, we're kind of melting down here. And temperatures are expected to rise over the next week. If things keep up this way, you'll overdose on sun rays. :P I can't think of what being in Rome in mid-August will feel like. Head-in-the-oven-like, maybe? Hope not.

I like the concept of remixes and I quite like [livejournal.com profile] vandonovan's stuff too (even though I read mainly his Firefly fics because you know I'm an ignorant new-skooler), so I really hope you two will find something to swap. *crosses fingers*

I'm a pathetic HP fangirl, I'm going to see the Order of the Phoenix tonight and plan to buy HP7 on Saturday morning right at opening time. We don't get midnight sales (because it'll be just me and a few others who will read the book in English) but I cling to the joy of being able to walk in the store without having to queue first, with no fear of people randomly shouting stuff to spoil you. One of the perks of living down here. Yay!

Heh, we shall see. I have to have time to read some stuff before I see about remixing and I eekp getting distracted by stuff. Ooops.

I don't know if we'll have a midnight opening in Norway, but I do know the poor translater will have to start clocking up the overtime. Last time they did it in three months. Adults here - including my mum, the HP fan - will read the English book, but kids will need the Norwegian one, obviously.

Leaked HP stuff got onto my local national paper's (that makes sense, really) front page, too.

YAY HAIRCUT. I got one a while back, and I've been trying out different stylings with my hair. I've found one that works remarkably well - total hold gel and messy, scrunchy curls from when I get out of the shower. Keeps my hair looking like I've got wet curls in my hair all day. And! Less volume - very awesome. (It helps that I get my hair thinned.) Anyway, haircuts are fun! Especially when the cute gay boy gets his hands on your locks. :D

I fear the coming wankalypse. Fortunately, I don't pay much attention to the HP fandom at large.

Feel free to remix any of my fics - my sole Doctor Who, the handful of House fics (if you wrote a remix of Der Wachterengel, I would love you to pieces.) I'd love to remix one of yours.

Speaking of the House Wankfest, I think that girl did all of that just for the attention. And then leaving in a huff? Not to mention censoring perfectly constructive criticism -- Tut, tut. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen and don't let the door smack you on the ass on your way out.

I don't really feel confident at writing House fic, sorry :( But I went and looked at Der Wächterengel and it's a lovely, lovely concept - I could possibly remix it in another fandom. Doctor Who, possibly. Would that be okay?

You can of course pick any of mine that you want to remix.

Yeah, it did come across rather"LOOK AT ME LOOK AT MEEEE LOOK AT ME - hey, why are you critizing what I'm wearing, you bitch?" Sheesh, when you yell at people for not commenting and then delete comments you do get, it all comes across just a weeeeee bit idiotic.

I know! It's the strangest, oddest, alternate universe, worlds collide thing ever! Because of course I knew Richard Dawkins, having been a biology major and having taken a couple of evolutionary psychology courses. And then... There was Lalla Ward! She does realize that the first two or three paragraphs easily apply to her? And grammar isn't subjective; that there are texts and manuals of style attributed to teaching you grammar and spelling, and that the American education system is woefully inept at teaching the finer points of mechanics and grammar?

You know, I don't even care that I'm using my "real name" because I've left reviews like the one that was first deleted, and I hope to receive such a detailed and comprehensive review, positive or negative. Mindless praise is nice, but a real writer understands that it's reviews like that which are most valuable, and that those take a lot of time, effort, and care to prepare. Clearly she doesn't read other people's work, or she has no beta and doesn't re-read her stories beyond a quick spell-check, because, well, really. Hmph.
