And so I have spent six days in Rome, which is large and warm and full of echoes of past times and occasionally makes it feel a little surreal. But had a smashing time with
falena84. A pic-spam of my time in Italy will come, but for now you can enjoy this not-at-all staged photo of me reading a guidebook. (We had much fun with that one, let me tell you.) Important fields of discussion on the trip included which world leader you'd rather do (expect a poll in the coming days), overheard American comments, that a wise Viking knows when to retreat to the longboat (a.ka when to have a siesta), overpriced centurions, books, which important historical Roman it would be the best to be the wife of and what monuments would indicate the builder was compensating. Fun times all around.
I'll be back in Norway Friday - end to a very lovely trip. :)
So, what did I miss in the world of the Internets? Well, I notice Doctor Who fandom made it to f_w yet AGAIN. And for shipping. Sigh. I'll just be here in my longboat, writing the fic I want and steer T&C as carefully as I can away from wanky waters. There's plenty of mead if you want to join.
And fandom is displeased with LJ. Hum. I need to read up on all of that. Is really a mass exodus happening or what? I think I'm missing large chunks of what's going on - not surprising, since I've been kinda distracted by having a holiday.
And because I'm a sheep - The Epilogue Meme.
And yay, new expansion for World of Warcraft, but not with a release date. Those teases.
And I have two fics to finish. Oops. Brass in Norway and the Doctor and Rose in Kent, 1900. Must kick self.
So, once again, what's new with you? Those of you who asked for postcards, have you gotten them yet?
In other news:
Karl Rove resigns.
Australian taken hostage in Internet bride scam.
New attempt to locate trapped Utah miners.
Floods in Norway.

I'll probably see you online on the weekend. :)

Date: 2007-08-13 02:16 pm (UTC)As for particular fandoms that actually have 'below 18 ships' as canon or else are fandoms which are known for shipping 'underage' with 'overage' (*cough*Potterverse*cough*), then it may well be they are all jumping ship like proverbial rats.
Certainly a LOT of people are refusing to pay LJ anymore money and even if they keep their LJ are letting any paid things slide. As much as anything, for most people they have lots of friends here on LJ as well as many, many comms (most of them fandom related) that they are part of. To actually leave LJ completely seems unrealistic (IMHO and in most people's view that I know of, but then as I say I dunno what those most deeply involved in fandom are saying).
The latest thing seems to be, however, that the place that most people were heading for, GreatestJournal, is now also doing the same thing: deleting journals with no prior warning if they are deemed 'offensive.' Thusly it now seems the place to go, if you so desire it, is Insane Journal which has posted a notice to all and sundry that it won't behave in such away unless someone actually gets out a court order.
The wank it be HUGE. *lol*
Glad you've had a good time in Italy! :D *hugs*

Date: 2007-08-13 05:48 pm (UTC)I'm going to slowly move the center of my own operations over to my own IJ, and not renew my paid account. Btw, there are now at least two DW communities on IJ: bbc_dr_who and who_fic.
