  Are we really turning into that kind of fandom, Doctor Who? Really? I feel vaguely depressed about it :( Possibly because I like to have all sorts of friends of differing opinions. It's just how I like it, and now I'm wondering if I have to be split down the half or some such.



• Pay It Forward: I will send a handmade gift to the first 5 people who leave a comment here on my blog with "gift!". I don't yet know what that gift will be, but you will receive it within 365 days. Having been one of the privileged few who was told this scintillating nugget of information, I think it's ridiculous. I like the diversity of my flist and refuse to defriend anyone over something as stupid as differing fandom opinions - even if there are people on my flist who *do* subscribe to this idiotic notion. But I do have a bit less respect for the people who choose to play that way.

*shrug*

Fandom's a big place. If that's how they want to engage, fine. I'll be over here with the grownups.

(I think Donna will be awesome. Just because of who she is, not who she isn't.)

Dunno yet how she gets picked up by the Doctor, but the BBC has indeed confirmed she'll be the companion for season four. (And also Martha will show up again.)

I can understand why a person with no direct knowledge of me might make some assumptions based on what groups I belong to and who my friends are. (And while my friends are all over the map, one conclusion seems to dominate.) What bothered me was when somebody I'd known for more than five minutes did it. If you've got words and actions to judge me on, can "speaks to heathens" really be the most important factor?

Fandom... well, I just stay in my own little corner and make my friends based on whether I like them and share interests with them, not on who they're friends with. If someone else has a problem with that, then it's their problem, not mine. Been there, done that, can't be arsed to do it again.

Two years, huh? It's not quite two years since I first stumbled onto the Teaspoon and read your Passing By - that was probabably around November 2005. Fandom's not managed to get rid of me yet ;)

As for Donna, I'm in a meh/wait and see mode. I'd had enough of her by the end of TRB; but, on the other hand, I've also now had enough of unrequited crushes. We'll see.

New LJ layouts are always fun; I'm still thrilled to bits with mine :) Enjoy whatever you get!

Couple of issues, really. Some friends of mine, as well as some people I don't know, got denied membership to a comm because of their friendslist. Then some other people I know defriended people because of them being friends with a particular person, then someone was deemed untrustworthy because of their flist... Seems to be a bit of a trend going, basically.
