Notes of Some Importance w/Meme of Love
Oct. 16th, 2007 11:56 amRight. So, for those who wondered why I've been slightly distracted, settling into a new job is the answer. Which is interesting so far. But I had been hoping for a week or two off to write between jobs. I have too many stories planned (including a Nine/Rose one called A Heartbeat And Two for
phdelicious, because she has made me man Fine Icons. Including this one) and it's just silly of me, really. Particulary since I also want to watch TV, play WoW, read books, redecorate and take over the world at the same time.
Never enough time, is there?
In Notes of Some Importance:
- CSI fandom will probably get some more wnak over lastest developments. Time for a wankimplosion post again, y/n?
- The Daily Show is in fact more made of win than ever now that I get it every day.
- Hey hun, using terms of supposed affection in that patronizing way is actually more offensive than just slamming someone. Ya rly.
- Norwegian entertainer who plays dumb reporter manages to get vaguely noticed in the US by making an American politician curse lots. In the US, politician gets flack for cursing, she gets interviewed by Fox news. In Norway, she gets voted off Dancing With the Stars and everyone is more concerned about the coming Euro qualifier.
- Have now gotten PPP icons and thus is officially a shipper of Personal Preference Pairings.
- New Public Access banner in this LJ. With moose.
- Aha Australian election called finally! May you lose, Prime Toad. May you lose hard.
- Latest debate raging in Norway - sex play in kindergartens.
- And also we have bear fear, apparently.
- Football season in Norway is almost over. Sniffles.
And a meme of love:
Reply to this post (with something indicating you want to be memed), and I will list three things I love about you. Maybe more than three. Then repost to your own journal and spread the love, if you want, but you totally don't have to. Unconditional love.

Date: 2007-10-16 01:21 pm (UTC)There was a lot of "about damn time" mumbling from me about the election. Even if it means the papers will be full of nothing but politics for the next six weeks.
And speaking of international politics, we had one of them re: Kevin Rudd a little while back. Only in Australia can someone running for PM get dobbed in for being at a strip joint, and have their popularity increase.
Meme me up, plz.

Date: 2007-10-16 01:51 pm (UTC)New banner is ten kinds of adorable. Everything is better with moose.
Re: sex play in kindergartens. I read the article and rationally find it an interesting issue that needs to be addressed, but somehow there's a part of me that viscerally cannot see children in a sexualised context.
Norway is playing against Bonia, right? We're playing Scotland next and I'm having a major indecision crisis over what team I shall cheer for. Lol.

Date: 2007-10-16 04:16 pm (UTC)We are playing Bosnia, ye. We need to win and kinda hope Greece kicks Turkish ass, I think.
I'm cheering Scotland and hoping Italy fails to qualify. Sorry :P

Date: 2007-10-16 05:53 pm (UTC)Good luck then!
I had no doubt about that. :P I'm in denial because I'd love to cheer for Scotland but omg, I feel like a big traitor.

Date: 2007-10-17 11:42 am (UTC)Mmm. I always feel pangs of guilt over my inability to cheer the Norwegian team. But then I comfort myself knowing I would cheer for them if they sucked less.

Date: 2007-10-16 01:54 pm (UTC)Nice banner. But what's the thing on the right? It looks vaguely like a yak, but even with my sketchy knowledge of Norwegian fauna, I know this can't be right. Or is it just a funny-shaped rock? Um.
Also: Give me some lovin', please, as I'm having a not-that-spectacular day.

Date: 2007-10-16 08:45 pm (UTC)The sex play article throws me for a bit of a loop, mostly because I'm in the middle of reading Huxley's Brave New World at the moment. As I read the chapter discussing sex play in children I was shocked, but found it amusing in a very removed way. It's only fiction, right? Apparently not, and now I'm struggling to find a balance between my viceral response of 'No!', and my urge to try to at least consider the theory behind the belief.
I have to say that from a parent's perspective I'm not comfortable with the thought of other adults administrating sex play in my child. At some point I would become concerned about the possibility of pedophilia, no matter how many degrees an individual has.

New CSI development...
Date: 2007-10-17 05:49 am (UTC)With Jorja Fox having made an official announcement that's she's leaving, there's no room for argument...
CBS' writers can dispose of the character of Sara Sidle as they see fit and hopefully the rest of this season can go on uneventfully...
I have no doubts that GSRs & Sara fans will continue to explore & enjoy that storyline in fanfics...
ABS;)
