Open invitation to moderators of Doctor Who communities

Really don't like to see bashing in your comm or in fandom in general? Find it a negative you wish you could be without?

You're not alone.

Me, lotus79 and gabesaunt as mods of time_and_chips got to talking with some other comm mods about making a joint statement across all participating comms that bashing - be it of a character, fans of a character, a ship, a comm or similarly - is quite simply Right Out and will not be tolerated.

If you are interested in joining to make and shaping this statement, please let me know. You can do so by leaving a comment or if you prefer, e-mail me at camilla.sandman at gmail dot com. We'll be setting up somewhere to talk and setttle all details.

Possible co-operation between comms on issues of bashing and trolling might also be discussed, but this is still very much on the drawing board.

Those who might not be moderators, but would like to personally echo the sentiments will of course also be more than welcome to.

I can't talk for my co-mods (especially as one is afk for a week), but I guess they won't object to the idea. So count torchwoodcoffee in, even if I haven't seen much bashing there. As tw_wotd_fic is quite quiet at the moment I don't think we'll have problems there, but well, the more the merrier, right?

Good plan - I'd definitely be onboard for making this statement on who_otp (I haven't seen bashing going on there, but obviously even on a relatively small comm you can't monitor every post for all eternity in case something starts in the comments) and if my co-mod agrees, on smith_n_jones

The more, the definitely merrier. Quite simply, I would wish for this to be plastered across fandom so as many as possible get the message it's not cool.

People will of course have time to consult with co-mods and so on, and I'm sure it will take some time getting all details done.

I've put your name down - it's possible I'll make a LJ comm for everyone who wants in, in which case you'll get an invite.

As I said above, you will of course have time to consult with co-mods. Depending on how many are in, I might make a LJ comm (as e-mails forth and back might get a bit cumbersome) to let everyone have a say. You will get an invite if so happens.

And yeah, it's almost impossible to keep track of everything sometimes. Fortunately, there's usually someone who lets us know when something crosses the line on T&C, but one can't always rely on that.

You already know my feelings about this topic, as LoM has been both the cause and the object of bashing at times. And to be honest, I'm tired of the negativity. If my co-mods agree, I'd like to join lifeonmartha in this endevour.

I'm only the mod of a very small Doctor Who community (worksonsailors), so there hasn't been any character bashing in there, but I heartily approve of this idea and I'm glad you guys are taking action. ♥ It's quite awesome of you. Character/actor bashing is unnecessary and upsetting to read. :\

Yeah, I've seen what character bashing has led to in other fandoms - that's why I'd rather not have it infest Doctor Who fandom. Cross your fingers for us?
