misscam: (Norway Why)
[personal profile] misscam
I made my first World of Warcraft filter post, so if you want in and haven't said previously, now's a good time.

In that real life thing:

Norway got hit by storm 'Tuva' at the end of last week - hurricane-strength wind and rain/snow. joy. I got caught in a bit of an afterthrow on Friday, and had sideways snow-as-wet-as-rain plummet me sideways. Was cold all weekend. Fuuuun. This winter? Made of fail. Please to be fixing.

American election process is wearing me down. I mean, this is just to elect each of the candidates - the preidential election campaign itself will go bananas later. Argh. CamDad is also all excited - not because he cares about either of the candidates, oh no. They're all on a fairly even plateau of dislike. Dad just likes the numbers - statistics, votes, failed prognosis, precentages, break-downs... He's going to have fun and leave me excited text messages. I am going to raid Fanthom-lord Karathass and slaughter things.

Britney Spears and Heath Ledger coverage is also wearing me down. Entertainment Tonight airs on one Norwegian channel and even zapping by it makes me feel strong amounts of rage. Seriously, am I the only one to find it completely vulture-like and want to smack the hosts with fish assortments? Even their fake!sympathy is so bad I want them to take acting schools. Please to be stopping.

Then again, the rest of the media is probably as bad. Gah.

I have gotten addicted to watching Mastercheef goes large when I get home from work, as it is on just when I get home and is nice to relax to and also stirs appetite for dinner. Mmmm. Masterfood.

In that fandom thing:

I am a sheep - feedback meme. Bææ.

Am I the only one to find it a bit dodgy to announce a challenge in a comm but requiring interested to leave their e-mails and only give it out there? ... Probably I have too sad and cynical a mind, but that just makes me wonder if the challenge contains something that is a no-no on the comm.

Writer's strike leads to less wank in fandom's affected by it, Y/N?

This list of ships in CSI fandom has some explanations that crack me up.
Warrick and Sofia: Blue eyes/green eyes. Could be interesting.
Sofia and Calleigh: Let's jump ship, and fly the butterfly to the princess.
Henry and Mandy: The wonderfully new Handy! "I'll marry you!"
Catherine and Horatio: They met in Miami.
... Oh CSI fandom, you give me much funny.

Posting an icon with Rose and the text "You've been shipping Doctor/Martha since I've been gone" cool/uncool? Hmmm. (Of course, my immidiate temptation would be to have it go "Yeah, for sure! Wanna join?" and then they lived OT3-ly ever after. But that's just me.)

And how are your things?

You're not the only one who wants to smack the media for their coverage of Heath and Brittney.
It's not alright because it's someone's personal life and invading that is not cool. It's called crossing a boundary.

Why do we care what celebrities do? It's very train-wrecky and not at all nice or civil or anything positive.

My things are alright. I hate this school. Er... my dad comes home this weekend. And I'm waiting my entire week for House.
...
Yeah.

How are you personally?

loves.

Mmm. I mean, a certain interest is bound to happen, people being curious and all. It's just the... rolling in it, hapring on details, running it through the ground until it reaches China... It leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. I have no love lost for Britney, but... Just enough already.

Overworked, but I'll live. At least I don't hate work - people here are a hoot. That helps - when the opposite happens, it's easy to hate work/school/hobby stuff.

Obviously. But the media frenzy and making these personal issues headline news is just... wrong. It's disrespectful, I think would be a better way to put it.
And agreed on all points.

Not hating work is always nice. :) And fun-type people make it all worthwhile.

I am not in WoW but want to read about it. You can judge me for that if you want :(

Added you to the filter.

And I judge no one's amusement at geekery. I find Second Life posts oddly facinating at times.

The Rose icon I haven't seen yet, but I laughed. I guess for me it would really depend on the rest of the post/comment.

See, that was my thing - I wasn't sure if it was tongue-in-cheek, a dig or what. Don't know the poster in question, so... Dunno, really.

Fandom has made me cynical :(

Throw me in the WOW filter if you would. Currently MIA from the game due to real life but have been an addict since before the NA beta was available. Imagine my shock at getting a character to 32 having to start over when they wiped us for a 'clean' start when the game went live. That wasn't so bad they nerfed us right away, lol.

So if you wouldn't mind, I still need my 'fix' now and then. Thank you

Oooooow. That sounds right painful - I didn't start playing until TBC was almost out, so never really got to see the classic WoW. But nerf - we all get it. What comes around goes around, I guess :P

Added you.

You didn't say ding when I asked who wanted to be on it :P

But added you now, so you can see my mad screencap postings.

For many years now I have wished that programmes like Entertainment Tonight would cease to exist. They do not report entertainment news; they sensationalise, and I find it tedious at best and appalling at worst.

Seem to be quite popular, though.

I don't play WOW, but my brother does, and I love watching him get beat up. Add me to the filter? :D

Ooh WoW filter, I'd love to be added. Please?

(I'm also sick of the presidential process aw well. Never was a more annoying exciting time to be in a highschool government class!)

I had every intention of commenting when you began the WoW filter, and then... forgot. :S But yes, please add me to it. WoW consumes most of my life these days, so I am all for read about other adventures, when not playing out my own.

One of my good friends wrote a WoW fanfic (I think about his own character) the other day though, so at least I'm not the most obsessed person I know. :P

It is a highly addictive game ;)

Have added you - and do I spy the use of a Noggenfogger elixir?

From: [identity profile] alice-to-qs-8th.livejournal.com
You do in fact spy Noggenfogger. My favorite is tiny, but the skelly is more identifiable in screencaps. I am a screencap h0r, but they do nothing but sit in a folder. Mayhaps one day I will pic spam my flist with them. You know, if I ever update my LJ again. :P

Hehehe.

Yeah, tiny is fun. Particulary as druid, when you can be tiny cat, tiny bear, tiny boomkin (if so specced) or tiny tree (if so specced). So many tinies, so little time.

And you should make a post, they can be much fun.

Ooh. WoWCrack filter. Pweeeese?

*puppy dog eyes of doom*

You're not the only one who is getting worn down by the treadmill of the US election (one of the reasons I'm sometimes glad to be Canadian), and the whole Britney/Heath over-coverage. When I can't even browse the BBC newsfeed without seeing it... it has gone too far! (I no longer has cable, so no longer has anything but the CBC.. which - boo-urns.)

*is compelled by dog eyes to add you*

Hey, Draenei!

When even BBC covers continiously from stories like that, you know they've become some mammoth beast of unkillable propotions.
