This is so made of fail it makes me feel sick.

I really have no words. WTF. With a side-bonus of WTH and RAGE.

Also made of fail: Burma's military dictatorship. Say, with all that 'but we invaded Iraq because Saddam was so evil' justification how's that Burma invasion planning going, Bush administration? Hmmm?

Thought not.

In more cheerful notes, relay run was a sucess and people got cheerfully plastered after and massive fun was had. I finished a little BSG fic set to Friday's episode. Weather is still shiny. I still have Doctor Who to watch. There is football. There is Monday off. There is probably raid tonight.

Always look on the bright side of life?

(Speaking of which - Congratulations Fulham and Manchester United supporters!)

We know from Hurricane Katrina that the Bush administration has no problem with government authorities holding back aid and relief agencies from getting to their own people.

Dude, that first story is horrific. It's things like that that make me worry about the state of humanity. Just, urgh.

And, hell yeah, with you about Burma. Fucking George Bush. It's all about money and greed. It always is.

BSG fic?? Have you posted it already?? Me wants to read!!

(And, urgh, don't even talk about Man United... :@)

Weeeeell... I do think there's a huge difference between Bush administration and the Burmese junta. Bush, while I loathe his guts, I don't think he'd actually want Americans to suffer. I disagree with 90% of what he thinks, but I wouild take him over the Burmese junta. That's a nasty, nasty disctatorship and there's been reports they actually took aid and *sold* it to people affected by the tsunami.

I'll rag on Bush any day and the appalling job that was done after Katrina any day, but the Burmese junta is a whole new level of fail.

The first link is vomit-inducing. Sometimes it's just too hard to try and keep a bit of faith in humanity.

Yeah, that story is just fucked up on so many levels. Seriously, WTF people?

Nah, fic is sent to beta first. I'll post it when she's done with it. It's really just a 'and then they done sex' one, heh.

(Not a fan? :P)

I'd be more depressed about it if I didn't have such a smashing day yesterday. People can be totally awesome too, honestly. Hard to believe when reading stories like that, but you always remember the negative more.

Jeez, I cannot spell today...

Yeah, I know that the Burmese government, if you can call it that, is light years more fucked up than Bush's. But fucked up is fucked up, even when it comes in varying degrees.

What I can't understand is, doesn't the Burmese junta realize that they are orchestrating their own downfall by doing this? Whatever population is left after this mess is going to be seriously pissed off and heads are gonna roll.

Icon of Serious Cute makes me feel better already.

At least I don't get fixated on a single emotion for too long, for better and for worse.
Still, sometimes I think that the world we live in, where information and news can be shared so quickly, doesn't help us with the focusing on the good side of life thing.

I mean, it's our own fault the bad news get around more easily, but seriously I've found that the more I grow up the older I get, the harder it is for me to stomach the negativity I keep seeing in the headlines/news/this sort of thing.

But anyway, let's try and play Pollyanna's game...

Today I wanted to go to the beach and work on my tan. Alas it rained, but I got to stay home and watch BSG with the boy. So, that's my keep on the sunny side bit.

They've had such iron control in Burma for so long I'm not sure heads will roll at all. Do the people in Burma have any resources to stand up with? The leader they might gather behind is kept locked up by the Burmese 'government' (which shows smarts, she'd could be more dangerous dead and a martyr). I don't know. I do hope Burma can finally get a change, I'm just afraid it can't be done as things are.

And yeah, fucked up is fucked up. But it's like how people always compare shit to the Nazis. Nothing is like the Nazis but the Nazis! And using 'Nazi' as an insult against anything you don't like lessen the strength of the word. I've come to think that making bullshit comparisons can just drown out what are valid critisisms and make them easier to dismiss. I'm just careful what comparisons I make, does that make sense?

I know. Sometimes I really do not have faith in the human race. How could anyone do something so fucked up? :@

Ahh, okay. I look forward to reading it!!
It's really just a 'and then they done sex' one, heh.
Sounds good to me!! (You know that's what happened when the screen faded out... :P)

(His smile in that scene is so pretty and they're so lovely it's all GUH.)

Mmm. I used to believe that people went two paths in life - felt too much with what happened in the world and burned out, or went for apathy and lost some compassion. I don't know now, though. You kinda have to find a balance of caring with protecting yourself. Maybe it's just putting the weight on the good, even the little things.

Hehe, is he still liking it?

People do amazingly shitty things, like the asshat in Austria. We all have our darker tendencies, I think. Which makes it all the more worth to cheer when people are awesome.

That's totally what went on in my head at least. With the cute and the smile and the touch and what he said and how do you not kiss someone then?

(Haha. Don't worry, I'm not a fan, just have friends who are. My teams are Norwegian. Just for English teams, I no like Chelsea at all, so...)

(It's weird, I keep hearing people saying that EJO has bad teeth. Either I never noticed or Americans in general get much better dental care than us).

When it comes to emotions I always go to the extremes. But then again, I switch back and forth from the two quite easily.

Yes. I offered to go out and rent a film of his choice but he suggested we keep going with BSG S1 instead.

(Hmm. Can't say I noticed - I mean, he has slightly uneven and not as blinding as most Americans on telly, but that's mostly good in my book. Some people on American shows have frightening teeth!)

You've sucessfully addicted him. Go you!

Link #1 makes me want to punch someone. The irony is that guys are usually about who threw the first punch. How was the picking up, pinning and dry-humping not a first, second and third punch, all before she had a chance to do do anything?

And link #2. Clearly Burma doesn't have a WMD arsenal, while Iraq did. Oh, wait...
