A massive fail, some bright sides of life
May. 11th, 2008 06:01 pmThis is so made of fail it makes me feel sick.
I really have no words. WTF. With a side-bonus of WTH and RAGE.
Also made of fail: Burma's military dictatorship. Say, with all that 'but we invaded Iraq because Saddam was so evil' justification how's that Burma invasion planning going, Bush administration? Hmmm?
Thought not.
In more cheerful notes, relay run was a sucess and people got cheerfully plastered after and massive fun was had. I finished a little BSG fic set to Friday's episode. Weather is still shiny. I still have Doctor Who to watch. There is football. There is Monday off. There is probably raid tonight.
Always look on the bright side of life?
(Speaking of which - Congratulations Fulham and Manchester United supporters!)

Date: 2008-05-11 04:34 pm (UTC)We know from Hurricane Katrina that the Bush administration has no problem with government authorities holding back aid and relief agencies from getting to their own people.

Date: 2008-05-11 04:54 pm (UTC)I'll rag on Bush any day and the appalling job that was done after Katrina any day, but the Burmese junta is a whole new level of fail.

Date: 2008-05-11 05:03 pm (UTC)What I can't understand is, doesn't the Burmese junta realize that they are orchestrating their own downfall by doing this? Whatever population is left after this mess is going to be seriously pissed off and heads are gonna roll.

Date: 2008-05-11 05:12 pm (UTC)And yeah, fucked up is fucked up. But it's like how people always compare shit to the Nazis. Nothing is like the Nazis but the Nazis! And using 'Nazi' as an insult against anything you don't like lessen the strength of the word. I've come to think that making bullshit comparisons can just drown out what are valid critisisms and make them easier to dismiss. I'm just careful what comparisons I make, does that make sense?

Date: 2008-05-11 04:40 pm (UTC)And, hell yeah, with you about Burma. Fucking George Bush. It's all about money and greed. It always is.

(And, urgh, don't even talk about Man United... :@)

Date: 2008-05-11 04:59 pm (UTC)Nah, fic is sent to beta first. I'll post it when she's done with it. It's really just a 'and then they done sex' one, heh.
(Not a fan? :P)

Date: 2008-05-11 05:26 pm (UTC)That's totally what went on in my head at least. With the cute and the smile and the touch and what he said and how do you not kiss someone then?
(Haha. Don't worry, I'm not a fan, just have friends who are. My teams are Norwegian. Just for English teams, I no like Chelsea at all, so...)

Date: 2008-05-11 05:08 pm (UTC)At least I don't get fixated on a single emotion for too long, for better and for worse.
Still, sometimes I think that the world we live in, where information and news can be shared so quickly, doesn't help us with the focusing on the good side of life thing.
I mean, it's our own fault the bad news get around more easily, but seriously I've found that
the more I grow upthe older I get, the harder it is for me to stomach the negativity I keep seeing in the headlines/news/this sort of thing. But anyway, let's try and play Pollyanna's game...
Today I wanted to go to the beach and work on my tan. Alas it rained, but I got to stay home and watch BSG with the boy. So, that's my keep on the sunny side bit.

Date: 2008-05-11 05:21 pm (UTC)Mmm. I used to believe that people went two paths in life - felt too much with what happened in the world and burned out, or went for apathy and lost some compassion. I don't know now, though. You kinda have to find a balance of caring with protecting yourself. Maybe it's just putting the weight on the good, even the little things.
Hehe, is he still liking it?

Date: 2008-05-11 05:38 pm (UTC)When it comes to emotions I always go to the extremes. But then again, I switch back and forth from the two quite easily.
Yes. I offered to go out and rent a film of his choice but he suggested we keep going with BSG S1 instead.
