misscamSmashing summer weather all weekend in Norway, and I spent most of it wishing I had just gotten slightly different genes and didn't suffer the same period pains as my mother. Ow. Also, ow.
Grumpy mood was not helped by the reactions of some in fandom to the lastest Doctor Who episode, no. Female character not being likeable to you =/= ho. No, really. See also 'bint', 'evil witch', 'slut', 'skank' or Insert Stupid Sexist Insult Here. (But supportive comments on modding made me cheer slightly up. I do wish I had mod icons with Adama and Roslin though, because they are awesome and can glare even a wrongly placed LJ-cut to submission.)
On the bright side, that wasn't what got DW fandom on f_w - that was Lawrence Miles' hate-on for Steven Moffat and Neil Gaiman.
Serious business, clearly.
Will next episode bring more stupid? Next weekend will tell.
But I might possibly be too distracted clinging to the next BSG episode which I want like a wanted thing yesterday already and doesn't air until Friday. Cruel to keep me waiting. Cruel!

On the bright side, I have Wednesday off work and might take the opportunity to get my hair coloured again and otherwise pamper self. Have earned it with diligent work and overtime, yo. I love it when I don't feel bad having time off.

A ruling annuling a wedding because the bride was not a virgin gets blasted in France.
... WTF French court? Actually, it's more WTF society, when a women's virginity is an essential factor in deciding to wed her. Virginity doesn't last, unless your marriage goes very wrong. Her personality you have to live with until death or divorce do you part.
Dead drug baron's estate turned theme park.

Australian troops leave Iraq.
John Howard must be grumbling so you can hear it in New Zealand, truly.
And meanwhile in New Zealand, man gets fined for the hedgehog throwing.
A more serious charge of assault with a weapon - the hedgehog - was dropped. It carried a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
I shouldn't laugh, yet I do.
Mondays should be outlawed. Bah.

While I'm not surprised that there are people being bitter out there (it seems that every episode has a good helping of people feeling that way. It must be exhausting.) I AM surprised that people are referring to her as a slut/skank/ho. Huh? NOTHING she did or said implied anything of the sort. I can understand not likely the character, but that is just a disproportionately nasty response.
I have no idea who Miles is, but anyone who hates on Gaiman gets a big FAIL sticker in my book.
Hedgehogs as weapons, huh? What will they think of next...
