Plagiarism-claiming hacking troll in the dungeon?

Okay, what the bloody hell with tomatoes on is this spiletta42 mess that is going on?

A post from her appears in T&C's mod queue, where she confesses to have been caught plagiarising and mentions stop_plagiarism as having caught her. T&C isn't the only comm hit, confession's been posted here and here, and this comm has several posts calling her on plagiarism.

But the plot thickens, as this post on stop_plagiarism shows. Plagiarism isn't so much plagiarism as grudge, it seems. Fake accusations, hacking, sockpuppets, what the hell?

Spiletta uses another journal to confirm hacking and really, really nasty comments here seem to indicate some shit is happening.

I don't know the story here, but clearly something batshit is going on and if you're a mod, watch your comm for serious.

ETA: Real life name and contact details have been posted to at least one comm. Seriously, this is beyond fucked up.

I have heard of (in fact two people on my friends have been affected by) hackers getting into a poorly-secured email account and using it to hijack an LJ.

I've never heard of a situation quite like this: I hope stop_plagiarism takes the hint and goes to moderated posting - otherwise this sort of sockpuppetry and bad blood may proliferate.

Yeah, I think going moderated would definitely be wise - it was pretty sickening seeing people (not necessarily comm members as the troll spammed a lot of comms with this) assume the post was gospel, especially the one who rushed off to alert a forum the victim posts fic on; even the most cursory look at the fics would have shown which was the copy (holodecks and military ranks in Heroes fic?), let alone taking a few minutes to check dates on google.

I believe it is and was on moderated posting, and the mod let it through. Comments in the entry at stop_plagiarism seem to suggest so, anyway.

So it was. Looks like the mod had been in a rush to react since the troll had already put it about that s_p had taken action when it had not. Tough corner to be put in, though with hindsight there were actions the mod could've taken without rushing to judgment. *sigh* oh well.

Also, doesn't anyone log anon IPs? Find the troll's IP and counterhack, or at least block it.

It's not the first case of LJ hacking I heard of and I find it quite unnerving. If you remember I had my share of troubles with trolls and that has left me rattled.

I wish there was a way to delete my old (not really secure) email address from the LJ database, but I don't seem to be able to do that without having to contact the support people...Maybe I'm just paranoid, I don't know.

Yeah, some of that kerfuffle has already shown up on two of the Coms I watch in the SG1 fandom.

Accusations were made without support using works from fandoms unrelated to the community in which the posts were made. Comments were being deleted. And now the hacking and "apology" posts.

It's a whole new level of crazy.

Good grief, that's still going on? spiletta42 was a GAFFer back when the boards were still orange (which makes it, what, two or three years ago?), and there were plagarism accusations flying then, too. I think it wound up getting ugly, but the board went down before the shit could really hit the fan.
