Actually feeling quite cheerful, and for a couple of reasons (fandom and real life):

- Have finished BSG fic again. Shocking, I know. Even more so because it wasn't the one I was intending to write, but sometimes a story just goes places as you write it. Now I just gotta sort out beta situation.

- BSG trailer and lots of BSG hints about reminding me after Christmas, my baby is back. This is good.

- There is new Doctor Who for Christmas and maybe it'll even come without companion wank. That would be great.

- Naxxramas raid with guild in WoW tonight. Ooooh.

- Have sorted out most Christmas stuff, and thus instead of stressing out, can enjoy Decemeber and marzipan. Mm. Marzipan.

- I've discovered a salami and chili pizza. Be still my heart, if not my breath.

- Been watching lots of Penn & Teller's Bullshit!, which makes me laugh even when I disagree with something. Sometimes, even shitty things can be viewed in a funny way and that's how I mostly keep sane.

- Winter sport season has officially kicked into gear. Which means I can spend Sunday mornings watching well-trained men in really, really tight clothing. Proper Norwegian tradition, that.

- I've apparently been nominated for something by Children of Time awards, which I don't know exactly what is or who run by, but I'll take it as a compliment either way.

It's a Christmas and Easter thing here, and since I never have it the rest of the year, it builds up a nice anticipated craving. Mmm.

Oh, I know. Between the Swedish and Norwegian branches of my mother's family, I got very spoiled with Christmas treats. ;) Marzipan and krumkake and pepparkakor and.... *fades off into sugary haze*

Hehe.

When I was fairly young, my grandmother used to make krumkaker, and they're quite easy to break when you're trying to roll them. So she used to give us kids the broken ones. Only my brother was so fond of them he'd sit down and watch grandma do it and go 'that one will break' over and over, and of course made my grandmother so nervous they did break and she finally had mum take him away before she had a nervous breakdown. Power of tasty Christmas treats, hah.

I used to have fun with family baking when I was a kid, too. The Lucia-buns-and-coffee-bread phase of holiday preparations always required crushed cardamom seeds for the coffee bread, and since we never really had specialized kitchen tools for the task, it usually involved wrapping said seeds in aluminum foil and smashing them with a hammer. Ah, the festive sound of brute-force baking. :) (wham... wham... wham... wham....)

And now I want spritz cookies. craaaaaave.....

Oh I love Penn & Teller's Bullshit! We have the 1st two seasons on DVD. I agree with them more than I disagree, but even when their opinion differs from mine I still feel... respected, I guess? Because of their stance of, "If you want to believe in this, that's fine, but don't try to sell it to or force it on other people." It appeals to my live and let-live nature.

What am I feeling cheerful about today? Leftovers with my lovers, video games, movies, and cuddling in the nice warm living room. Yay!

THIS. I have lots of friends I disagree with on things and that's fine and even stimulating to debate at times but there is a huge difference between talking about why you have the opinions you have and as you say, forcing them on people. Especially when it's done on children, I get my back up.

I remember one show about some Bible camps that put 'abortion is murder' and anit-gay stuff into five-year-olds. WTF, truly.

Ooo, I just finished watching a movie called 'Jesus Camp' that basically follows three children under the age of ten through hardcore evangelical Jesus camp where they learn about praying in tongues, the evils of Harry Potter, how to talk to their classmates about Jesus and how their generation is a crucial generation of spiritual warriors.

It honestly terrifies me that large numbers of people of this mindset exist in America. :(

I've been real slack on writing and feel proper ashamed :( Not even had time to read much. But feels like fandom been a bit slow in general from what I've seen. Should pick up towards the final eps. (Sniff.) I hope.

Just need to find out if my regular beta is still around or I should look for someone else. Man, I've really been distarcted.

Christmas is getting closer, this fills me with glee. New BSG will start just in time for my bday. I have a few short trips planned in the next couple of months, which will mean getting to see stuff and spend time with friends and people I love. I'm also practically done with my dissertation and other graduation-related horrid stuff. I've seen a Law&Order: UK trailer containing the hotness of Jamie Bamber and Freema Agyeman. There will be new DW soon. Work is getting in the less busy time of the year, so I'll have a bit more time to myself.

So, yes, I'm full of yay.
