Remember the FandomHistory wiki debacle? Now in (possible) Doctor Who flavour

If you don't, a few have summarized the wank surrounding it (as it were) here and here. In short, a fandom history wiki that is out to make money; people take issues with method, intention and person behind it; wank occurs.

Well, now it seems to have hit Doctor Who fandom, asking people to participate in the FH wiki. In addition to tennant_love, comms like tennantastic and ten_tennant seems to have been targetted. It's possible Doctor Who-centric comms are next (judging from this and this, lots of different places with various interests have been hit). Given wank seems to follow this wiki and the creator quite a bit, might be an idea to watch your comms and make your mind up how you'd want to handle it if your comm does get it.

And I see FanHistory's set up another account, betsyb_fh, for the purposes of this advertising campaign, quite blatantly "in order to avoid being flamed over the FanHistory wiki". (I may be paraphrasing a little.)

I see an anonymous or three have already commented to the tennant_love post warning of what FanHistory actually is and does, and linking to an assortment of LJ posts on the subject.

...I think mods of the comms she's just joined should pay attention to betsyb_fh's "Member of" List. It's pretty much the hit list of the comms she's posted to.

I see the tennat_love post got deleted now, possibly others have as well. If it goes any further, I guess we will have to wait and see.

That same thing (almost exactly the same wording of the post, just with some extra fandom-relevant stats down the bottom) was in the Transformers fandom a matter of days ago. I didn't take it too seriously until I realised there was a page with my information on it. I've barely even posted fic (and not even in the fandoms they had me listed for) and I had no idea the site existed till it turned up on my flist. I got the page deleted because I don't like stalkers who don't even have the courtesy to say "Hey, I'm putting your information on my site".

Site got bots running and scraping information to put up, not really checking it. Might be how you got your page.

I discovered that site like yesterday, by accident. There was a page of all the fic I'd written on ff.net. No personal information, but I still wish it wasn't there. =/
