It's my birthday :) Thank you to all who sent best wishes and congratulated me, it is much appreciated. I got cake and card at work yesterday too. And gifts! Among other things, I got the most lovely new scarf, which is good because I'd just about worn out my old. I like scarves. Must have in winter here.
I also got new layout from the lovely
adoraheatherly -
misscam if you want to check it out. It's Adama/Roslin, which is no surprise at all. I likes the shiny!
There was BSG episode!
I found this episode slightly meh, as the Ellen/Tigh/Caprica didn't click with me. Not the fault of the actors - particulary Hogan was awesome. Some thoughts:
- Saul/Bill is such a platonic OTP even Ellen recognises it. And the hugging at the end and the 'Liam'? Killed me, that did. If Bill doesn't get to keep both Saul and Laura I shall be very sad for him.
- Chief recognises Boomer and plays it really hotly. Not sure I was ever on the Tyrol/Boomer train, but I could be convinced to take a seat. Though smooth sailing, I don't think it shall be.
- Kara in a bar with a piano and Bear McCreary, total set-up for next week's episode. Which I am very curious about.
- Cylons do have disturbingly incestous relationships at times. Also, hai there table!sex! Saul and Ellen. Well, well, well. BSG sure is the show where not just the young 'uns get it on.
- Ellen and Saul do bring out the worst in each other at times, it seems. Last episode, Ellen was much more collected - this was more like season one again. Given what she's been through, it's understandable she's none too pleased about things, but I worry about the consequences of this.
- Caprica Six losing the baby made me wonder if it's a set-up for her taking Hera. Hmmm.
- Arming Baltar's group? THAT CAN NEVER END WELL. And how much of Baltar's desire to help is genuine desire and how much is his ego thinking he should be savior of all, I wonder.
- Hot Dog must be in good graces again, and had the funniest line of the episode. (Though Adama is a good contender with his project in the head.)
- Laura and Caprica's conversation, so awkward. But brings up the Opera House visions again, which still needs explaining. And Laura and Lee really haven't been used much in these two last episodes. This is cruel to me and Saz. She wants her eyecandy, I want some kickass President and more of the relationship she and Bill are clearly having, please.
- Oh Bill, all that drinking cannot be good for you, and I think your girlfriend is thinking the same.
- Saul's line about humans and Cylons not being strong enough on their own and the comments about blending throughout the episode made me wonder if this is really one of the points of the show. Hmm. I've been thinking about what BSG's 'point' is after some of the comments made by the writer and the cast and I change my mind often.
- Mah OTP holds hands in public. I find this utterly adorable.

I can't believe there's so few episodes left now. My show :(
In other news:
The shortlist for this year's oddest book title has been released. Pick your favourite! Last year's winner was apparently If You Want Closure In Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs. Yeah.
Norway's population has passed 4.8 million. Watch us snail towards that 5 million mark, in proper Norwegian slow fashion.
A Smash-Me Bernie toy of Bernard Madoff, the financer accused of a 50 billion dollar fraud is a surprise hit. Hee. Well, at least someone is making money there and hammering a toy can be theraputic.
And while I wrote this up, it continued to snow - and snowed so much the pine tree next to my window just had a huge branch snap off from the weight of the snow and fall down. Oi. Yeah, we have a lot of snow at the moment.
How's your weekend, babes?

Date: 2009-02-21 06:31 pm (UTC)I thought the BSG ep was kind of 'meh', too, but that's probably just because I seem to have forgotten why I started watching this show in the first place. I really need to back off from A/R a bit, or rewatch the whole series, or something, because it seems like the only episodes that are 'good' to me lately are the ones with A/R in them, and that displeases me D:.
OTOH, OMG THEY HOLD HANDS IN PUBLIC. That was ridiculous levels of cute, how Laura didn't want to let him go despite the fact that she is obviously super pissed at him for drinking his liver into extinction. I mean, she didn't just grab his wrist and tug him over, or pull on his elbow. No, she released him and took his hand. That one gesture seems to say a ridiculously large amount about their relationship. I also have a strange fondness for her expression at the moment of this cap.
See what I mean? I'm waaaay too deep in this ship D:.

Date: 2009-02-21 06:43 pm (UTC)Heh, it's probably because the show had a lot of A/R at once, which makes it easy to forget how the relationship really was built up by a lot of spaced out scenes over the years. Really, it is a great show for a lot of reasons, but it's been so good at the Adama/Roslin stuff I just always want more.
MM and EJO are really good at putting little details into their scenes that say so much, so yeah, I found it supercute too. If you're too deep in, so am I :P
I totally hope someone icons that cap with some appropriate text. I noticed when I was capping that scene there was actually quite a few lovely faces they did.

All in all not an ep. that I hated, but not quite as brilliant as I'd hoped it might be. Gah, only four more.

And happy birthday :-)

Date: 2009-02-21 06:47 pm (UTC)Bear was in the background in the bar scene - the piano player will be played by someone else, but modelled on Bear, I believe. A tribue, I guess ;)
Thanks!

BSG...I don't know what to think of this episode. I just finished watching it a few minutes ago.
I really wanted to slap Ellen when she let it so 'innocently' slip to Caprica that she and Saul had sex right away. Poor Caprica. And then loosing the baby. :'( Bill and Saul's bromance is something I haven't seen on TV so far. One of a kind, really.
Also, Bill's drinking makes me sad. I cannot stand to see him drinking so much. It hurts. Laura doesn't approve either. Her glare at him when he gave his flask to Ellen said it all.
But they were so cute in that last scene. I was squeeing at the handholding. :D I really hope we get to see more of them in the remaining episode. I don't like Laura's near-absencence. *sighs*

Date: 2009-02-21 07:13 pm (UTC)Yeah, Bill is really worrying me. Laura is clearly noticing at least some of it, but given her refusal to do treatments, I'm not sure she feels she can push the subject with him. We'll see. They are still totally adorable together, but a lot is going to hell around them and it is having an effect.
I felt bad for Ellen, Saul and Caprica Six. Wasn't much of an upshot in that situation at all. Oh, show :(

Date: 2009-02-21 10:38 pm (UTC)Last night's ep was...interesting. Not the best, although I agree, the A/R hand holding was a million different kinds of adorable. Oh show, I don't want to think about how little episodes there are left. Sigh.

Date: 2009-02-22 09:31 am (UTC)This week and last week felt like a lot of information and not so much plot at times, but I suspect a lot is set-up for what's to come. Which better be awesome, since there are so few eps. WAH.

eta: Hotdog...had the funniest line of the episode.
"how many dead chicks are out there?
haha! i loved it!
Saul/Bill is such a platonic OTP even Ellen recognises it.
i really kind of love that the show addressed that, i really do.

Date: 2009-02-22 09:36 am (UTC)Yeah, the show has really showcased Bill and Saul's love, which is sweet and nice when a lot of male friendships gets displayed in media as very macho and not always so emotional. It is okay for men to love each other, really. Platonic or otherwise.
