It's time for some World of Warcraft adventures again. Silliness and raiding ahead, oh my. When we last left off, my guild had started raiding Naxxramas, and I had annoyed Arthas a lot. In this edition, there's a lot of killing of his minions, an army of penguins, turning into blood elves and general silliness.

What to do in Northrend when bored I: Why, get an army of penguins, of course!

What to do in Northrend when bored II: Why, get turned into a valkyrie-esque chick and best them all at challenges, of course!

What to do in Northrend when bored III: Why, get turned into a basilisk and watch your friends laugh at you, of course!

What to do in Northrend when bored IV: Why, turn yourself into a blood elf, of course!

What to do in Northrend when bored V: Why, turn yourself into a male blood elf. That sparkles. Of course.

What to do in Northrend when bored VI: Why, ride a reindeer to Naxxramas, of course!

What to do in Northrend when bored VII: Why, watch your mage friend turn himself into four gorillas, of course!

Raiding in Naxxramas I: Gothik the Harvester is about to bite the dust. This fight is actually all about the adds - you split your raids into two groups, one on living side and one on undead. Adds appear on living side, you snuff them, they are then raised as undead on undead side and you snuff them again. Rinse, repeat, boss gets annoyed and comes to play. Kill him.

Raiding in Naxxramas II: About to fight some stupid cult lady, me and Ingunn decide to turn outrselves into iron runed dwarf and do some dancing first. As you do.

Raiding in Naxxramas III: Loatheb is some big annoying mushroom-monster that takes insanely long to kill. And also only allows healing three seconds every 20 seconds, so it's all about timing.

Raiding in Naxxramas IV: Oh man, Thaddius. Thaddius is apparently some monster of various tortured humans stitched together (ew) that forces you to play Match the Polarity - half the raid will be plus and half minus, and people of opposite polarity to your own will damage you while people of the same will increase your damage. He will every now and then change the polarity of a random number of people, and it's all about constantly running to the right group. Someone always dies by going to the wrong polarity side. Hoo yes. In this case, the rogue has died painfully.

Raiding in Naxxramas V: This used to be a big dog that ate zombies. Because everyone loves zombies. With ketchup.

Raiding in Naxxramas VI: Aww, the frost wyrm died when we killed it. That's a shame. I was kinda hoping to keep it.

Raiding in Naxxramas VII: We've killed bad lich Kel'Thuzad and cleared the whole of Naxxramas. Hurrah! We'll take that throne for our troubles.

Raiding not in Naxxramas I: I've died, but we've killed Malygos and thus cleared all current raid content in Wrath of the Lich King. Hurrah! Bring on Ulduar, Blizzard. I want to kick some titan ass.

Raiding not in Naxxramas II: The last part of the Malygos fight actually puts you on red dragons that you then get to fight with. After you've killed him, the Dragon Queen (who is red) shows up and is all sad (Malygos is her 'brother', of sorts) but thanks you still.

My character, as she looked fairly recently.
Stay tuned for more adventures in WoWland: Ulduar (when it is released), a lot more stupidity and maybe blood elves, and my guild is going to try to clear the hardest raid instance in the game ten levels above it. Oh, Sunwell Plateau. I've missed you.

Date: 2009-02-24 01:54 pm (UTC)There's everyone I'm in raid with - showing me who is alive and dead. There's main tank list, which shows you what the tanks are targetting and thus I can easily take their target to help kill. The numbers you see across some screens is how much damage I take, how much healing I get (and from whom) and how much mana I gain. If no healing numbers are coming up, I know I might have to help my own health. If I am taking massive damage, it's usually a sign I'm doing something stupid and might need to move. There are my buffs listed - I can see when they run out and when various abilities I have are in play/running out. There are the bars with all my various attack abilities and otherwise. I need to click those to use and I'm constantly watching what order I do what in. Then I have an aggro meter, which is to make sure I do not overdo the tank in aggro and thus get something attacking me. (If it's a boss, I will be dead in one hit, usually.) I also have something called 'recount' which shows me how much healing/damage and such each player does. I don't really look at that too much as I play, it's more for after. As I am a raid leader in my guild, I need to know how a trial member did, for instance.
I am confusing you horribly, aren't I? ;) To answer your question, it takes a while to learn everything you need in WoW, but it does become fairly intuitive. I mean, I've played for years now. I know what to watch and do and what does what by now.

Date: 2009-02-24 01:58 pm (UTC)Raid content is a lot of fun, but it can be a bit draining to do seriously. It's a whole different game to questing and levelling.
What class are you playing?

Date: 2009-02-24 02:06 pm (UTC)Mostly I like quests and RP, but my guild does raiding once a week, and have no intention of stopping, so it should be good to start raiding with them when I get there - they're all a lot more experienced than I am. XD Plus, y'know, you just can't get the full effect without a few Raids, right?

Date: 2009-02-24 02:18 pm (UTC)It can be good to at least try raiding and see if it's to your liking, yeah. And it can be a lot of fun with a guild you like.

Date: 2009-02-24 02:41 pm (UTC)Rage annoyed me because I could never do anything with it until I'd been fighting for a bit, heh. But I never played past 20, so it's possible I would have gotten used to it. I just like being able to unload on a mob fast - with my hunter, takes me 4 shots or so to kill a mob on my level.

Date: 2009-02-24 02:12 pm (UTC)Me, I've just started running UK on regular, stopping just before Keleseth (hard to 3-man it when he Frost Tombs the 80 guildie me and my other 67 guildie run it with). I'm nearly to 67, and once I get up to 70, we'll run it up to just shy of Ingvar. Then it's just a matter of dinging 80 and having the really NICE gear to assist my guild properly.
Silly thing is, I was hoping I'd be useful around level 50... then WLK came out and I found out just how weak I really was.

Date: 2009-02-24 02:22 pm (UTC)UK, huh? Done that a few times. Ingvar's fun. You get him twice.
Takes a while to get to lvl 80, though. You need a lot of XP from 70 to 80. Lots and lots of questing.

Date: 2009-02-24 02:41 pm (UTC)So I've found out... he HURTS. We've 4-manned it and my poor 67 guildie gets smacked every time. He needs better gear too.
So my 80 guildie's told me... but at least it'll be easier since my aggro radius won't be TOO terrible... I hope. The better gear will be REALLY nice...

Date: 2009-02-24 04:40 pm (UTC)... okay, the thought of 3-manning former 40-man raids in Azeroth is a cool thought too. Need good gear for that as well.
