Meme, fanfics and funny Bush

I've seen this meme go around on my friends list, and I found it kinda amusing, so...

If my life were a fandom...

a. Who would the 'shippers pair me with?
b. Who would the slashers pair me with?
c. What would a Mary Sue in my fandom be like OR who is mostly likely to be turned into Canon Sue?
d. When did I/when will I jump the shark?
e. Write a one sentence summary of the story that would win the Best Fanfic Award in my fandom.

Meanwhile,I'm struggling with finding a good name for Legolas's mum for Nocturne. Names are hard things indeed. I thought of something like Taurwen (Forest-Maiden), but I'm not all that happy with the sound of it. I wanted something to do with forests or trees in her name, just like Legolas's name has. (I like to play around with names - the last chapter of OFUM - which was updated yesterday if you missed it - had an invented Sue name in it meaning 'Horror Elf'. Of course, hardly anyone actually notice such things, but it amuses me.)

Being stuck on that, I wrote a little Boston Puclic (smut) drabble for my own amusement. (Tis here). The show on just as I get home usually, so I tend to watch it while reading the mail/newspaper. I sometimes also catch the end of The Bold and the Beautiful, where apparently incest is the theme of the month. Fun for the whole family!

And I was quite amazed when watching a foreign affairs show yesterday - Bush was holding a speech for some reporters and he was doing this little slide show and he was being funny! I actually laughed (he was showing a slide of him looking for something in the Oval Office and said 'And here I am looking for weapons of mass destruction - nope, not there!'). Okay, I've laughed at Bush before, but that's been when he hasn't intended to be funny. Intetionally funny Bush makes Camilla laugh. Hmm, I wonder if the little demons in Hell are donning fur to keep the warmth yet...

I know! I was shocked. I was awed. Was this Dubya... being intentionally funny?! Was this Dubya... with a sense of humour?! Was this me laughing *with* Dubya for once, instead of *at* him?! I was scared. I was amazed. I was amused.

And then I wondered who he hired to write it for him, and how much he paid them. :-P

But hey, even if he paid a writer, he still actually decided to go with and therefore can handle poking fun of himself. This is a good quality.

But of course then he got all serious and started yakking about Iraq and what-not, and so Mr. Bush and I safely returned to our usual unloving relationship (trust me - if he knew me, he'd unlove me to. I'm an atheist social democrat born out of wedlock and a UN supporter to boot). It was a freaky moment enjoying a Bush joke by Bush, but it soon passed and things returned to normal.

Who the heck is this Mitt? I fear those jokes went straight over my head (although I gather he wants to run for President).

I got the Kerry jokes, but the wit of Blackadder he ain't got. Then again, few do. Now Blackadder for President - that would be something... *daydreams*

Mitt Romney is the current Republican gov. of Mass. He...well, I don't like him. He's originally from Utah, and ran the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Less than a year later, he switched residency to Massachusetts and ran for Gov. He shoved out the incumbent from canidacy and then used his family money for his campaign. And still only just barely beat the Democrat.

He's definitely eyeing the Presidency, so it's becoming a bit of a running joke around here. We do keep losing governors to Washington...out of the last, mmm...three, we haven't gotten a full term out of them. Two went to ambassadorships, and the last was just finishing out the term left by the other. ARGH.

b. Who would the slashers pair me with? Uhh...Christina Ricci? She just sounds dark and cheeky enough for ye.
c. What would a Mary Sue in my fandom be like OR who is mostly likely to be turned into Canon Sue? Intelligent, witty, right on with comedy and always says the right things. She will become the perfect little secretary who grabs everyone's attention with one word and from what I can gather by your entire journal...she'll be a Norwegien (shit I hope I spelt that right, am dislexic and all) sweety patriot to the core...almost as bad as me with Holland.
d. When did I/when will I jump the shark? Huh?
e. Write a one sentence summary of the story that would win the Best Fanfic Award in my fandom. Ok...I'm lost here...you have the brains, I have mush.

And the rest of what you mentioned in your entry is lost on me...I never saw him laugh, and I don't think I want to either. The trauma may be too great.

Shippers are... well, if you want Aragorn and Eowyn to be together, you're an Aragorn/Eowyn shipper. If you want Mulder and Scully to be tpgether, you're a Mulder/Scully shipper. And so on...

Hmpf. Mental age has very little impact on whether or not I want to snog someone, you know. But I suppose Georgie boy is all right.

'Jump the shark' is a phrase describing the moment a TV show starts going downhill and starts getting crappy. (Comes from an ep of Happys Days, I believe, where a character apparently did jump over a shark and that was the start of the show's decline.)

I just finally finished reading the latest OFUM chapter. I read it after you mentioned your 'Sue's name, so I was looking for it, but I still applaud you for thinking of it. >:) :D

I must admit... I don't know Elvish(either form) well enough to know on sight whether a name actually means something or not, and most of the time, I just assume the names you use are made-up 'Sue names (aka meaningless syllables). *hangs head* I'm sorry... I shall pay more attention in future chapters, and when I reread OFUM and OFUM2.

I've been wondering for some time now... has anyone willingly joined OFUM? Or am I insane? I'd assume that if someone was smart enough to know they needed help, they probably wouldn't need OFUM's type of help... Maybe I should just stop here before I confuse myself... :D
