Today shall be Nostalgia Day...
Apr. 20th, 2004 02:59 pmI've been continuing my spring cleaning spree and thus came across this box of old photos and other stuff from my childhood and teenage years. And boy did that bring memories back... Little me and little bro playing Nintendo games, Marius's giant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle that he won, my early days of X-Files obsessions before I discovered Babylon 5, my football playing days, mountain treks with the parents, my tomboy days... You know, I had a happy childhood. Sure, everything wasn't always dandy and bad stuff did happen - but I was mostly happy. It was a good childhood. My teenager years were slightly more troubled, but that's mostly my own fault. And life is still good now, it's just I get more adult troubles now.
To add to my sense of nostaliga today, someone e-mailed me to ask if I would please start writing ratfic again. Water Rats was possibly the best fandom-experience I had. Granted, LotR has given me a bigger reading audience and more feedback, but WR gave me actual friends. And less wank (I see f_w are having a LotR wank of epic proportions).
How human it is to think everything was better before, eh? I got all nostalgic and started reminicing. I was actually rather cute when I was little. Bit of a brat, but I blame that on the bad influence of my younger brother. *nods sagely* Me and my brother were and are very close, actually, and we had lots of adventures together when we were small. I remember one time we snook into a 'haunted house' together - only what haunted it wasn't so much ghosts, but some drug addicts and they scared the bejeesus out of us. Good times, good times.
Oh, and this meme has been going around everywhere, so I might as join in.
I want everyone who reads this to ask me 3 questions, no more no less
Ask me anything you want.
Then I want you to go to your journal, copy and paste this, allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.

3) What are the worst things to do when writing a story?

Date: 2004-04-21 03:24 am (UTC)2) Hmmm. Although Water Rats wasn't my alltime favourite obession, I will have to say it was my favourite fandom.
3) Well for me, it's to be in the middle of reading a new book. I'll get impatient during writing or worse yet, start to mimic the style. Not a good thing.

2. What is your favorite musical instrument? (either to play or to listen to)
3. If you got to become a superhero and pick your own name and powers, what would they be?
*shrug*

Date: 2004-04-21 03:30 am (UTC)2) I suck at playing instruments, but I still enjoy very much plunking at a guitar.
3) Going with my Nordic heritage, I'd be Hav (means 'ocean' in Norwegian) and have power over the sea and all kinds of water.

Date: 2004-04-20 09:42 am (UTC)Question two: Who/what is the ultimate evil? (Okay, so my grasp of the painfully obvious is a bit dull. I blame school for rotting my mind!)
Question three: When are you going to add my OFU to your list of authorised OFU fics? I'm sure I sent you the link. (http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1644580 is the link if you didn't get it before.)

Date: 2004-04-21 03:35 am (UTC)2) Ah. Well, my personal idea of the ultimate evil is evil done by people who believe they do good.
3) Next time I update. I didn't get the url before, if you e-mailed it, hotmail might have eaten it.

3) Wouldn't call myself fan, no. I mean, I don't change channel if they're on the radio, but I don't cough up money for a CD of theirs.

Eh, that's ok- I've spent enough money on them for both of us. *grin*

3) What is the weirdest, wackiest, randomest thing you've ever done?
Heh. Finally, you are in my hands. Answer said questions, and know that you have contributed greatly to the world.

Date: 2004-04-21 03:44 am (UTC)2) I haven't eaten cereal in over ten years, I think. But I'd choose the new (here, anyway) Lion cereal because the commercial amuses me, it looks blatantly unhealthy and I could give half to my brother.
3) While walking on the streets of Prague, going past a tattoo parlour and deciding then and there to get one. I had just turned 18. And thus I got my first tattoo.

3) What do you REALLY think of George W. Bush? ;-)
Re: Questions
Date: 2004-04-21 03:47 am (UTC)2) Yes. I have a family in the States that have sort of adopted me and my brother as a second family. I've been to stay with them twice.
3) I detest him with every fibre of my being, except for days when I'm so angry with him I'm more inclined to loathe him.

2) Yes.
3) Given it's a special OFUMlist only chapter and already quite long, it will tale me a while.I might post it in parts. Depends how much spare time I get as well - it could be done in two days, it could be two weeks.

3) 'Skare av Gnist' in this book called 'Tanz'. It's about the spaceship Alexandria, which is a library space ship and travel from planet to planet giving knowledge and recieving knowledge. And Skare comes from an ice planet, which I can somewhat relate to.
