Spring, football and Mullah-lifting
May. 3rd, 2004 01:10 pmNocturne has a new chapter up.
Spring has come! The weekend was warm and sunny and green and it was rather impossible to resist the temptation to stay outside and soak sun. So I did. I sat in the sun and read books, including 'Tides of War' which my brother lent me (he's on an ancient Greek kick). It felt vaguely familiar reading it, perhaps because hawkes will be hawkes and doves will be doves and war will be war. Only the names and weapons change. Rather depressing, that.
But my good mood was restored by Tromsø winning its match on Sunday and thus still leading the league. Hah! Last year my poor team was nearly sent down a division, now they're in the lead. Not that I think they'll win. That'll be Rosenborg, for the bloody 13th time in a row. That'll be a new world record. Ack. Next match is Tromsø-Rosenborg, so we'll see how that goes. (Yes, despair all ye who hate sport, for football season has started and Miss Cam loves her football. Despair!)
And while the rest of the world worry about war and the Shrub, Norway is talking about Mullah Krekar and THE LIFTING (and the aftermath).
And while I go out to enjoy the sun, you can all enjoy spring photos from Norway.

Date: 2004-05-03 11:48 am (UTC)The americans play is called "american football"... seems a lot like rugby with lots of padding and odd tights to me... :0~
Re: Football?
Date: 2004-05-04 04:17 am (UTC)I once heard an Australian call American fotoball 'the coward's version of rugby'. I was amused.

*Giggles at The Lifting*
Hmm... If OFUM-Gimli does show up here in NZ, I know a few places and customs he can misunderstand and destroy...
The Beehive for starters, the Sky Tower or the Habour Bridge...
But the thought of Gimli miss-understanding the haka etc...
hehehe....

Date: 2004-05-04 08:25 pm (UTC)I am feeding him a virus right now, because my laptop has one and that is where he likes to live.
It is sad, its that brand new one that is spreading like wildfire.
Don't bash american football. My team won the Superbowl a year ago, the Bucs rock.
