I have seen Troy.

To sum up:

There were many pretty, pretty men. Staying true to the story, not so much. But see the pretty men! *eyes the pretty men*

Achilles and Briseis left me rather stone cold, but I felt decidedly warmer about the Trojans. Overall, it was enjoyable and I will probably buy it on DVD when it comes out, but it was not a work of art by any stretch. But pretty men. Pretty, pretty men.

No, I am not going to write Illiad slash. Stop looking at me like that! Funny how attractive doomed and angsty love is, though. Be it Helen and Paris or Romeo and Juliet. (Or Legolas and Gimli as written by mean, mean Cam, for that matter.) We certainly love to watch (or read about) people be miserably in love.

Or perhaps it's the "miserable" part we're really attracted to.

Speaking of miserable... Quote me the most unintentionally amusing badfic line you've come across! For example, I might quote this:
When we got to the Long Table Elrond, Galadriel and the rest of the table stood up to welcome me, a new Elf, into their midst. "Lady Beth" Galadriel said as she pulled me into an embrace "it is so good to see you up"
(The story was called 'To Be With U', BTW) I'm making a collection. I have a few that is a lot worse, but they're not PG rated, to put it that way.

The most unintentionally funny line ever was from a fic the title of which I forget, but it was a horrible Arwen/Legolas complete with evil!Aragorn..

"He wanted me to give up my immorality for him. I said no."

"Long Table Elrond"? That brings to mind images I did not need.

If it weren't for angst, would we have anything to look forward to from you? ;)

*wants to see pretty pretty men* My mom might take me . . . stoopid MPAA, deciding I can't see it without parents unless a blind cashier mistakes me for 18 . . .

*thinks* The quote would definately have to be "I eat death like nobody's business"

Draco Malfoy...although I can't remember from where. The reason it popped into my head is because I have a tendancy to yell that aloud at the strangest times. :D

While the romance between Briseis and Achilles wasn't really making me melt, the fact that it gave an opportunity for Naked Brad Pitt won it MAJOR brownie points. Honestly, I think the basic idea behind that movie was "Okay, we're going to have to throw a hell of a lot of hot manflesh out there to stun the audience into not bashing us for our utterly warping the book". Have to say it worked rather well in that regard.

When we got to the Long Table Elrond...

Ah - that's where it came from? *snickers*

No, I am not going to write Illiad slash.

Thank you. Homer suffered enough, I think.

You seem to have a shortage of pretty blokes on your friends list. So I shall have to do duty for 'em.

*sniggers* I actually read "immortality" the first time around. Obviously what it was meant to be, but "immorality" does add a new level to that sentence.

You have to be 18 to see it? *blinks* Wow, in Norway you had to be 15. It wasn't that violent.

We are weak. So very weak.

But still, I am most miffed they had Agamemnon die at Troy. That's not how he died!

Yep, that's the original of Long Table Elrond. It was a horrid, horrid table of Beth (who was 16) and with Legolas, who had knocked her up. She was then offered to be "made" an Elf by Galadriel, only then her baby would die (during the "procedure"). Much, much wangsting ensues, including Gandalf "popping" (yes, the story had him literally pop into other worlds) her friend to come visit and her mum, who then tells her daughter she's a nasty slut. More wangsting before Beth was then made an Elf and she and Legolas set off for Mirkwood.

Alas, it's hard to know who truly are pretty men online. They must all be hiding.

Perhaps a hunting party is in order...

Whoop! Spot light party!

*goes to dig out car batteries and sufficient headlights for hunting party*

(Disclaimer: sense of humour is based on what you probably encountered in terms of local Queensland males. Okay, so possibly the sport of roo shooting is a long stretch...)

Well, I've read a lot fo badfic in my time (tolerant for pain I suppose) but my all-time favorite line would have to be from an old Sailormoon fanfic called "Dimision Troubles". Yes, that's really the name of the fic! It's written in script form, and the line is this:

Sarah: It who you nutcake of bad energy getting kind from good humans.

Here in Holland it was actually rated 16 and up for the 'nudity' bits rather than the violence. In my opinion it wasn't any more violent than any of the LotR installments, which got a PG-13 rating here. I think 16 and up is a little over the top, personally. Sure, there was a little nudity, but they weren't really doing much...

Yeah that's true. The Pathé in town has these specials on and even my 14 year old friends at church can go see it...noit like their parents would let them anyway, but they can.

I have yet to see it. Mostly to watch Orli's face when he's confronted by a nekkid Helen (snickers and wonders how many takes that took) and to see Brad and the King of Sparta going all bitchy at eachother. Also, must search for slash scenes. I wonder if the movie makers seem to realize that they are turning Orlando into a slash puppy with movies like these.
