Unprecedented Norwegian interest in the American election
Norwegian government in hot water over military loan to US forces before the war

This comes at a time when NATO is pondering sending troops to help with "training" of Iraqi forces and rumours are going about that Norway might pitch some in, too.

Cam is not happy. Cam wants to throttle Bush *and* Bondevik. !@&ยค! I just know Bush will pretend this is more support of his way in Iraq. He has before, after all. And the Norwegian Prime Minister hems and hahs, and yes, we were against the war really, but let's not be too loud about it, yes? And thus we are used.

There is a time for silence and a time for loudness. I will not be used. My voice may only be one voice, but here it is nevertheless and it is speaking against you, Bush. And you, Osama.

And if you both listen very, very hard, you can hear the many parts of the world speaking with me.

But are you listening? And would Kerry listen if he gets elected?

Or have the US and Europe moved onto different parts and things will never be the same, as much as politicians pretend we're still very good friends, yes?

I don't know. I feel... Changes. Perhaps it is the impending election in the US. But still, a part of me wonders if a change of President would really change so much. Sure, it might cut down on my headdesk time, but has not the change to Europe, to the US, to the world already happened? Or has the change never happened and what we are will always be death and despair to each other? And can one voice matter in all this noise?

I know what I intend to do with my voice one year ahead at Norwegian election time. But my country is small and the wilderness is vast around me. Alone, my voice cannot carry and I cannot even be sure my voice says the right things. But one voice is a start that can find other voices and we can learn from each other. Perhaps humanity can learn and change the paths of tears and blood we walk. I cannot but hope.

And the strange thing is - much as I want to despair - to me that hope is enough. After all, don't we all live on the promise of tomorrow?

On a brighter note, more cute pictures of Future Queen Ingrid Alexandra

And a much amusing meme.

You are Kairet Mustapha. You have a heart full of anxiety and sorrow. Your husband was the Chief Security Officer for the ex-President of Nigeria. You have $30 million in an account in Ghana though you can't afford a comfortable meal. You want to give me 20%.
Which Nigerian spammer are You?

So we're "dragging" you in after all...What did we expect? Honesty and respect from the beloved leaders of our countries? Not bloody likely. Bush has been asking for it for too long but the PM really needs to start hollering about a few things *he* believes in and supports.

When we went off to Iraq, positive the entire world'll be sorry they didn't join us, protesters were all over the country. Is it your turn now?

On a happier note, the Royal family is beautiful. My personal favourite is Marius, so damn cute and impatient :) Ingrid's going to be a beautiful kid herself. Question though....is it Alexandra or Alexandria? Confused...

*Hugs* Feel better...Though since Doomsday is next week...*gets out passport and suitcases*

Yes, I expect honesty and respect. I know it isn't always the case, but I do expect it.

And protesters were all over Norway leading up to the war, just as they were in other parts of Europe.

It's Ingrid Alexandra. She's named after her great-grandfather (deceased) King Olav who was born Prince Alexander of Denmark. He was renamed Olav when his father was invited to become King of Norway in 1905. Thus ends the history lesson.
