So what do I get today? Nigara scam type e-mail where someone supposedly dead in the tsunami has left money. For a moment, I wanted to kill. Then I cried.

Today should be celebation, but I have nothing to give right now. I didn't have time to grieve for my grandfather and so I mourn for him too now. Tomorrow, both Sweden and Norway hold an official day of mourning. Between us, we're missing people in the thousands. A small number compared to the great losses in the region hit, yes, but a devestating blow to our two tiny little countries. The tsunami was not just some disaster in distant lands. It has hit us all.

So 2004 will come to an end here quietly, in the dark. Radio and television will hold a minute's silence at midnight, as will many firework displays.

Sometimes, the greatest grief is in silence. It is a noisy, noisy world but silence can speak most of all.

On a personal note, if you have donated money to various aid efforts, I thank you. If there is one bright star in all of this, it is how giving people in many, many countries have been. Even tiny poor East Timor have given and they have really nothing to give of. Let us not forget as the initial grief and shock have faded. Let us for once indulge the better sides of humanity.

Happy New Year.

Yeah, and that those trying to do it are caught.

Sadly, sociopathy knows no bounds of good taste, human decency or morality. To the sociopath, a tragedy is simply another opportunity to exploit and parasitize.

Would that these subhumans got what they deserved.

*hugs and chocolate*

*wishes there were some magic to midnight on New Year's that would make the next year miraculously start happily*

Yeah. But life has no magic wand. We must deal with what has happened, grieve and move on. Only thing you can do.

And sometimes the very illusion of a chance for a fresh start helps, I guess. At least for those of us who like to take life in managable steps, or to see milestones pass for encouragement to keep going and put a little extra work into their steps for the next mile.

Life is all about illusions, I guess. That's how the human mind works.

Happy new year, anyhow.

I'm spending the evening watching red dwarf; and now I think it's bedtime since I've been up since 6am.

Here's a story though, that I found this morning. It will probably make you sadder, though. It certainly does me. :(

But here's a slightly more hopeful version:

*yawns* definitely bedtime.

There's just no end to the tragedies... While generations, whole people just swallowed by the sea. All we can do is hope for the best for those missing.

Happy new year, my dear. May it be Rimmerlicious.

Happy New Year, too. May 2005 begin better than 2004 ended.

*offers a hug, cliched though it is*

My thoughts are with you . . . cliched though that is, too. Maybe 2005 treat us all, and the survivors too, better than 2004 did.

Bastards. Email scams shouldn't be like that- that's almost as bad as the ones I get about little girls dying from cancer supposedly 'getting a penny for treatment for every person you send this email to.'

Auugh, I have come SO close to killing people over that. They have no idea- those insensitive- damn them.
