I'm back at my place, and with new computer (now I just have to get all my stuff from the laptop over to here - sigh) and my lovely broadband. I even got myself a new webcam that I'm going to install and I've been amusing myself by playing LotR: The Third Age. Now there's a game that would make Tolkien wonder if someone rewrote the book while he was dead. Still, somewhat amusing.

The good news is that the list of missing Norwegian have gone down and we're looking at far less dead than we suspected. This is good, though it hardly diminished the tragedy of it all. We're looking at around a hundred dead, which is still a huge blow to our little land, but not as much as we feared. And compared to Sweden, we were lucky.

Sweden mourns their dead

In more disgusting news, check out the image in this Norwegian newsstory. Apparently, some American Baptist Church is hoping Sweden loses 20,000 as they are "a dirty, disobidient generation" and have "satanic laws". Charming. This is apparently Fred Phelps's church. I see how he got his lovely reputation all right. You'll be happy to know, Fred, that Sweden is missing thousands, though not as many as you would have wanted.

I wish I could smack him with a whale. Then I would get nasty.

ETA: I found their website. Um, yeah...

ETA 2: What Phelps said

Oh ye Gods. I didn't think it was possible for me to be this angry.

Alas, a nuke would hit more than him.

Personalized nuke, that would be something.

A whale?
I'd better not print out how I'd like to treat him... So angry! And I don't even really know anyone who was affected.
*Grrr*

Fred Phelps is a psycho. He's been tossed out of every reputable Christian organization and church; therefore, he decided to start his own, which basically consists of his family and in-laws--well, those who haven't disowned themselves and blabbed to the papers about his abuse. Last year, he and his followers dragged their sorry crud to Alaska, where they picketed the largest, most conservative Baptist church in town because they didn't think the pastor was tough enough on gays. I was frankly disappointed that they didn't picket my church; I'd have considered it a badge of honor.

Anyway, all that is to say: do not, repeat, do *not* take anything he says as indicative at all of the way American Christians think of the disaster or, for that matter, of Sweden.

No, but you are Swedish, so you have greater reason to be personally offended. *I'm* personally offended, in fact.

When I invade the world, I shall be sure to give old Phelps to Sweden for... reeducation.

He what now? I couldn't read the article, but DAMN! As an American I would like to personally apologize for this fucker. I wonder if these people ever stop to think that Jesus would surely not approve of their stupid signs or mindless hate-spouting. "God hates fags" indeed.

Need any help swinging that whale?

Ah, yes, we'd appreciate that... any chance of this happening soon? Need some fists? ^_~!

Every country has its nasty extremeties, it seems.

But when I was in the States, I did notice a certain trend among conservative Christians to think Scandinavia TEH EVOL. I wasn't always amused.

That's true, but one could always hope that ALL the members of his little cult would stand next to him at the time.

*pats* The day will come. I just need an army first.

Any fists are welcome. And perhaps I could introduce your first to Mr. Phelps. I'm sure the meeting would be stimulating.

Well, basically the article said that the church claimed that the 20,000 Swedes that were in Thailand was there to rape and abuse little Thai boys girls and they're a bit missed because Sweden convicted a guy named Abe Green - who I believe is follower of their ways - for something. I'm guessing it was something nasty about gay he said that fell under libel/slander laws or something.

Um, yeah. http://www.godhatessweden.com/

*bangs head on wall*

That's the type of person that makes Christians look bad... I may not approve of everything you guys do over there, but I don't believe God hates anyone, and I'm definitely not going to rejoice that people are dead!

*grumbles*

I admit that I haven't been watching much about the tsunami, partially because the whole thing just seems kind of unbelievable to me.

*hugs to Scandinavia, even if e-hugs really just aren't the same as real hugs* I'm sorry.

*And megahugs to the people where the Tsunami actually hit!* :(

*salutes* Miss Cam, ma'am, if you'd ever need me in your army, I'm only one country away.

*SMITES* I can't believe there are people dumb enough to believe that shit. It was a NATURAL DISASTER. Most of the people dead and missing are KIDS. Are there really people believing that these children deserved to die? That somehow they earned it? *snarls* This... cult are not Christians. I don't even think they qualify as human.

When Phelps die, he's in for a BIG surprise...

Yeah, it's not the best spokesperson for Christianity out there, that's for sure.

But geez, it's not like little Scandinavia is hurting anyone and the way Phelps and ilk rant about how we're all bedhopping hoes over here you'd think we were guilty of some greater crime than following our convictions. Geez.

I shall keep that in mind. Maybe there could be a Swedish company... You'd wield lutefisk just as well as Norwegians, I'm sure.

Yeah, Phelps think gays deserve death just for what they are and so do Swedes, apparently. As I said, he's a charming fellow.

I'm kind of insulted that he hasn't got a 'God hates Britain' page on there. God forbid that someone like that should approve of us!

What can I say? I find it hard to believe that he's for real. Surely there aren't really people who believe this? It's quite scary.

A crisis brings out the best and worst in people.

I rather liked the attached article - a Buddhist monk in Canada has decided that best way he can help is to sell his temple to raise money.

I'd almost swear it was a troll, but I don't hang around that sort. I mean - If you have something relevant to say (and cuss words are not relevant, you tolerant, loving, sodomite Swedes) contact us at info@godhatesamerica.com

Jesussezwhat? I don't practice any particular religion, but at the heart of Christianity supposed to be, you know, love?

Wouldn't it be ironic and lovely poetic justice if a tsunami came and swept that man off, then crushed him against a building, and as he was experiencing his very last seconds, pushed him against something that severed him to pieces?

Grrr. People like that make Elvy angry.
