I'm having a badfic contest...
Apr. 17th, 2003 11:33 amOf sorts. Just posted this to the OFUM list:
Those of you who have read the latest OFUM chapter know that poor Elrond has gone slightly... Insane. The cause has been found to be shell shock and Possession Sue, and sadly, OFUM has been unable to reverse it.
There is but one chance. A company of nine (Elrond included) will go into the dark chasms of badfic, to observe the worst crimes against Canon and characterisation in the hope that Elrond's anger will boil over and break Possession Sue's grip on him.
Here is where you come in. Because OFUM has never done as the PPC and really targetted real fics (though alluded to some), I would really prefer to use fanfic with permission. In fact, I would really like to use fanfic of this group. So, I'm offering this opportunity - write a badfic, send it to me or the group, and it could be used in the next chapter of OFUM as a world the Nine Seekers visit in their quest for Elrond's sanity. (They'll visit several, rest assured). They're also quite likely to try and clean it up (kill Sues, smack their messed up alter-egos about etc). In other words, if you have a pet peeve Canon crime, here is a chance to see it smacked down by Canon itself.
This offer is open a week. If I get many entries, I can't gurantee your will be used.
The stories should be hidious, ignorant of Canon (doesn't need to be a Sue, but can be) and it's a plus if it involves Elrond. Remember, I want the badfic pure - I will then use that world much as the PPC does, so don't write in OFUM. All entries used will of course get the proper acknowledgement.
The Nine Seekers will be Thranduil, Denethor, Lina, Gimli, Turin, Bilbo, Radagast, CelebrÃan and Elrond.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
Miss Cam

Date: 2003-04-19 01:37 am (UTC)The concept is very interesting though. Looking forward to this chapter. :)
BTW, would you mind if I added you to my friends list? (and since you probably don't know who I am, I guess I should mention that I'm a random reader of OFUM and random supporter of the Kill A Git cause) :)

Date: 2003-04-19 08:49 am (UTC)Not at all. Add if you like. You're at the HA list, yes? (I'm on it, just don't post). You wrote the Nuzgul research article, and misspelled my name - so I do remember you :P

Re:

See, in Norwegian, 'nuss' is a word used to describe something cute and fluffy - like bunnies. Nuss and Nuz sound the same in Norwegian, so I spotted 'she was under the shadow of the Nuzgul' in a badfic, I thought this breed of Nazgul had to be cute and fluffy. Voila, Nazgul bunnies - the Nuzgul.
