Last time on [livejournal.com profile] misscam's Live Journal - Freak accident makes Cam in charge of the Vatican. Fred Phelps goes on hungerstrike upon hearing the news. Warrick strips for world happiness. The Cam-ican sets about finding a Pope.

White smoke rises from the Cam-ican. [livejournal.com profile] adraefan is the new Pope, Pope POPE-ALICIOUS I. [livejournal.com profile] gehayi is the First Pope Minion and [livejournal.com profile] hadria is Lord Hairy Wookie of Heavenly Affairs on the Asswipe Backward Planet Earth, Speaker of the Cardinals. So speaketh the electorate of the Cam-ican, i.e. me. (And I was muchly amused by all the applications - well done, all.)

I can now upload to ff.net again (hmpf) and thus East of the Sun, West of the Moon got its chapter seven and eight up. (Sara and Warrick POV.) I got a few chapters finished and beta'ed, so there'll be more chapters to come, including adult naughtiness. Now if I can just get Brass to talk to me...

Kaleidoscope got uploaded - now you can find your birthday gift whenever you want, [livejournal.com profile] lotus79

Insurance company charts the world's most dangerous places to do business. Norway got a low score, though. *pats little Norway* You can find the link to the original map there and check it out.

Norwegian Christian democrat want to mimick Bush campaign - there is not enough no in the world. No, no, no. One of the things I can actually stand about the Christian People's Party in Norway is the fact that they do not attempt to use Christianity to condemn everything and everyone. Given Norway's current secular attitude, I cannot stress enough how much a Bad Idea this is. But then, who am I to keep the party from committing hara kiri?

Majority for gendeneutral marriage in Norway - to clarify, what Norway currently has, is a civil union marriage for homosexuals, called "partnerskap" (partnership). It gives the unions pretty much the same legal rights as a marriage (and thus is usally referred to as such), but not fully the same adoption rights. So this law change we're talking about is giving gays adoption rights and basically, make the term marriage now genderneutral under the law. Several parties favour this and if the election goes as it currently looks, there will be a majority for.

The interesting thing about this survey, that the English article touched only lightly on, is how strongly women are in favour. Also, it's only the age group of 55+ that has a majority against. It's the young and urban who are the most positive. What's also interesting is that very few do not have an opinion. Almost all were either strongly for or strongly against.

And being an young, urban female, it is therefore utterly unsurprising I am in favour of this change. To me, love crosses age, gender, race and class. As an atheist, I have no religious background to make me opposed, either. Nor do I think Christianity has the monopoly on defining what marriage is.

And if I hear one more right-winged Phelps-wannabe rant about how gay marriage has destroyed the very fabric of Scandinavian society, I will come a'smacking with the Trout O'Cam, now a holy relic.

Speaking of which... Oooooh Phelps, you and I have a few words and fish to exchange (and by exchange I mean you shut up, I toss). Come to the Cam-ican.

(I'm so going to Hell.)

Is it wrong of me to think that the title "Genderless marriage" is a funny one? Sorry, men and women, you do have genders... you can't get married...

Heh, yeah. I think I shall change it to genderneutral, much better.

"Marriage, now only for the genderless!"

"Marriage, now only for the genderless!"

It would take care of most of the current discussion about it...

An excellent opportunity to smack Phelps with your trout if I ever saw one, then, seeing as you two will be keeping company for an awfully long time there. Say "hi" to the rest of my flist when you get there, eh?

What, you're not coming along to introduce us to Honorificus, the Supremely Evil, Grammatical and Well-Shod One?

I am disappointed.

Sorry. Previous engagement in the afterlife. Seems like my whole flist keeps talking about how they're going to hell, though, so I'll miss you guys. Send me postcards?

(BTW, H will, I'm sure, happily show you around the more fashionable quarters of the City of Dis. She quite likes you, you know.)

Incidentally, if I know his type (and I do, all too well), my guess is that Phelps' only thought about the Pope in the past couple of weeks is that the Catholic idolater was too long in dying. A guy like that? Not amenable to other forms of Christianity (read: all of them except his skewed version).

gay marriage has destroyed the very fabric of Scandinavian society

I'm curious--do people who say this ever say how it's destroyed the "very fabric of Scandinavian society?" Any statistics on, say, rising juvenile delinquency, or murder, or whatever (that actually correlates with increases in open homosexual partnership)?

Oh ha, silly me. Every time *I* cite scientific or sociological studies, I'm the one who's wrong because the other person "just still believes" what they will.

On that note, if I hear one more "I'm against gay marriage for the same reason I'm against divorce: a child needs a *man* and a *woman* for parents!" argument, especially if it continues after I cite the American Psychological Association study disproving that, I'll scream, myself. *hiss*

Let's all go to hell together and party then!

They usually claim it's our fallen marriage rate - which of course goes back to before we allowed gay marriage and is tied to co-habitation having the same legal rights as marriage in my country.

And it's made us all bedhopping hoes, or something.

Yeah, because, you know, trust, loyalty, and love are not as important as having a church say something about you... (And you can't have women running around who aren't bound by religion to some man, either!)

Wow, I'm quite honoured.

I would like to say thank you to my parents for being good Catholics and not using birth control that one time.

That is all.

*steals Popemobile from Pope Popealicious I and drives off into the sunset*

There's more than one Popemobile, silly. There's Popemobile One for the Pope and Popemobile Two for Minions. Borrow that.

:)

I get annoyed when people hijack marriage for Christianity. Marriage gas existed under many religions, before Christianity and it is possible for two people to make a commitment without mixing God in.

*risks getting bashed by Catholic world*

And I don't think the new pope is going to help the marriage issue along. (in the right direction, anyway)
