Speaking of reading - NICK LIVE'S Meet hick and Grissim. Don't people even look over the stuff they're posting these days? (Oh, the fanfic has slight spoilers for the season finale, though only if you haven't seen the previews.)

It burnssss, precious. (*plots OFUC(SI) evilness to ease the burning*) I swear, sometimes I think the general state of CSI fic is getting *worse* and there needs to be a CSI Goodfic Movement, Bringing Quality For Your Sanity(TM). Grissim?! Ow, ow, ow.

Reading for you:

Yay for May 17th! I'm celebrating by having my wisdom teeth out. Though I bet I'd prefer however Norwegians celebrate it. O_o

Oh, since you're pointing out BBC articles, did you see this one? Gender gap is largest in Egypt, while Nordic women have the most advantages. Norway ranks second, Sweden first, and the U.S. 17th. You evil Scandivians! :P

That was interesting. Thanks for the info. (I know it wasn't directed at me, but still, I appreciate it.) I imagine the US got dinged badly over reproductive health issues, which seem to be suffering a terrible, reactionary decline, due to the power of the Christian fundamentalist right-wing nutjobs.

Canada, where I live, didn't fair too badly. We placed seventh. There are, however, vast areas for improvement. Obviously, because we're seventh and not first. Which still doesn't imply total equality either.

Also, if it's okay, I'd like to friend you.

I'm no expert on the matter, but I bet reproductive health issues was part of it. Not to mention that women make less money for the same jobs (if they even have the same opportunities to get those jobs)--despite the fact that they tend to be the ones raising the kids when a couple with children splits up (or so I read a while ago), and in that case, they need the money more. Among more than enough other things.

Sure, it's okay to friend me. I'll gladly reciprocate.

Ditto for Canada. Right now, the federal government is trying to put forward legislation for a national day care program. Except day care falls under the purview of the individual provincial governments. So far, only three provinces have signed up. Alberta, my province, won't, because a national day care program smacks of socialism. Also, it just won't do to have a federal body have control over the funds given to Alberta. So what if working moms can't necessarily afford to put their kids in private day care? It should be said, though, that there is an under-6 day care subsidy program in Alberta. I just don't think it's expansive enough. *facepalm*

Umm, I digressed a little with my child care ramble. But yes, I understand what you're saying. I'm a single mom. Fortunately, my ex is very good at paying support. Not that it covers everything, but it covers enough. Plus, he chips in on things, like bedroom furniture and dance shoes, if I ask him to. Which is nice.

*headdesk*

We've had one for years and years and years and look, God has not smote us so far. Could it be not all things socialist in idea are evil? Shock, horror.

*headdesk* indeed

And I live here! Is there any shock in that I want to leave asap?

Could it be not all things socialist in idea are evil? Shock, horror.

According to King Ralph, my "esteemed" leader, socialism = evil. This is a man who spoke highly of Pinochet, might I add. *lesigh*

Where'd you want to leave to?

Pinochet? Highly of him how? Admiring his great skills in ordering mass murder or just general ability to be a bit of a tyrant? But I guess it's aaaaaaall all right as long as it's done in the name of anti-communism, right?

Git. I toss my trout at him. Quite a lot of Europe have embraced various socialist ideas and unless he didn't notice, we do quite all right. In fact, the social democratic Nordic countries do exceedingly well even in economic areas, so bah to him.

My premier worships at the alter of Bush. It's seriously quite sad.

It doesn't matter that there are real-world examples of socialism meaning good things. In his mind, it's the biggest sin.

This is a man who entered a shelter one night - while quite intoxicated; he's a now-recovering alcoholic - and berated the men for not having jobs, for having no work ethic, etc., etc.

He got into a lot of shit for his Pinochet remarks. Alas, not in enough shit. And the general public doesn't bloody well care. Because Alberta is rich! Alberta is prosperous! Alberta has industry! Alberta doesn't have a sales tax! Because Alberta has paid off the debt or deficit or what the fuck ever! And all this is because of the wonderful and esteemed Ralph Klein!

To be honest, his party did suffer a bit of "loss" during the last election. They're still the majority party, with absolutely no end in sight of their being removed from power. I live in a fucking oligarchy.

I want to move to either Montreal in Quebec. (Which is in central-eastern Canada.) Or Vancouver, in British Columbia. (Which is the most westerly province.) Alas, both provinces have problems with unemployment. And there is the constant issue of separation in Quebec, as well as big issues with xenophobia. However, I could speak French more than I do currently, which is a bonus. But I have a very non-French last night, which would make integration and acceptance interesting.

Ah, he's like Howard, the Australian Prime Minister. I just call him the Prime Toad. The country did well, so he won his elections, despite his Bush-ass licking and general personality trait of Blandy McBland. I had to watch his antics while there, not to mention his Norway-insulting during the Tampa incident. Shut up, Prime Toad.

I've heard good things about Vancouver from my Candadian relatives. High unemployment rate is not so good, of course, but no place is perfect. Sadly.

Didn't Quebec decide recently to stay Candadian Or is it like Norway and the question of EU membership and resurfaces every decade or so?

I've heard about Howard. But not enough. Sounds a bit like Klein. Blar.

I've only ever been to the airport in Vancouver. So, this summer, the plan is to drive there and visit some friends along the way. I'm looking forward to it.

A few years ago, there was a referendum. The no side barely won. I mean, barely. Like, by the skin of their teeth. It was the third referendum on this subject, I believe.

As it is, it's a contentious issue and will always be there. There is no current talk of another referendum, but the desire to separate among many Quebeckers is still very strong.

Every country has its Gits. I swear there's a Git gene that keeps them popping up quite alike all over the world. We got some here too, though thankfully the PM is not as gitty as he could be. I shall still do my best to vote him out, however.

Sounds fabulous. I've sadly never been to Canada, only the US. I should really visit my family there and ogle moose. Maybe when I get rich... Big country to drive, certainly.

Ah, I see. Sounds quite divided. Is there any sense of how the future generation feels, so one might guess if it'll stay divide or slowly slide more and more onto one side?

I'm not sure what it's like currently in Quebec. A friend of mine lives there and I should ask him.

On the other hand, I don't think separatism in Quebec will ever truly die out, even if any and all referendums are voted down.

Grissim held him in his arms for a few minutes just relishing the fact that he was alive, poor nick just grabbed handfuls of grissims shirt and let more tears fall.

And the Grick shippers rejoice!

Possibly the worst "fic" I've ever read. Grissim.

I haven't read any of those books. Yes, so sad.
