Now there's something to wake up to...
Jun. 14th, 2005 10:07 amEast of the Sun, West of the Moon has been updated with ch. 26 here (CSI Forensics) & here (ff.net)
Oy. Go to bed early, wake up to Michael Jackson being found not guilty and YTDAW related wank, of which I guess I was a part. Oy. Quite the meal for breakfast.
Cam's Opinion on the First: The man gives me all the wrong vibes, but evidence be evidence and I'm not convinced there was enough to warrant conviction on all the charges. But I don't know the details of the case, so I shall happily sit on the fence. (Fans' reactions.)
Cam's Opinion on the Second: I still think "crap" was a bad word to use and I don't personally mind Greg/Sara banners as it's just not a big deal to me, and YTDAW straddle so many shows and 'ships this is bound to occur - but their board, their rules and hoo boy, did that ever explode. I guess I'm now a full member of the CSI fandom, having been involved in 'ship arguments. *wipes away tear* I feel so proud. And with a slight urge to point and laugh at myself for being utterly silly. Ah well. (And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, feel blessed. Or left out.) But it certainly gave me an even greater urge to start OFUC(SI). Oh yes.
I do sense a bit of defensiveness in the G/S corner of late, though. Maybe it's frustration over the lack of progress (and boy, do I ever share that) in the show or something, I don't know. Or maybe I'm just remembering the fandom from three years ago when I first hopped in - and then hopped out again - and haven't adjusted the the new times. I don't know. (And look, I'm repeating myself.)
Or maybe I'm used to the LotR fandom and my standing therein and haven't adjuested. Who the smeg knows...

Date: 2005-06-14 02:39 am (UTC)As for the Jackson case--anything to make it disappear from the news! *pleads* Okay, I have no idea whether he's guilty or not and don't care to debate too much, but I will admit I had a fascination with some of the reactions--mainly the "I looked in his eyes once, and he didn't seem like he'd ever abuse a child!" or "The media just assumed he was guilty, before they knew the verdict! But we [the fans] knew all along he was innocent, and this proves it!" sorts. Uh... yeah... O_o

Date: 2005-06-14 03:24 am (UTC)My opinion on the frustration and defensiveness is because there's like five posters over there who kind of beat a horse dead. Like they make endless posts about how cute Greg/Sara is and how he makes her happy. And it's all they ever post about. And then the obligatory "please don't kill me" which just seems like attention seeking to me. And it works. Because it ANNOYS. It's the repetition that's irking me and while the endless G/S repetition and wankery is along the same lines, that's kind of what the site is about you know? So IMO the defensiveness comes from the annoyingness at reading the exact same posts about Greg/Sara from the same posters over and over again ad nauseum into oblivion etc. It's not even debate anymore, it's just people repeating themselves endlessly. It's kind of an "okay, we get it, now can we move on to gushing about how Grissom lovingly stares into Sara's brown orbs of tranquility".
Or maybe people are bored during summer hiatus and need to unwind by wanking.
I think it's awesome the Senator changed his mind but very sad that it took so many deaths just to change one man's outlook. But it still takes courage to admit you were wrong so props to him for having it.
Pope Palpy, I still bite my thumb at you sir.

Yeah, I was surprised he was found not guilty on all counts... but the jury heard all the evidence, I didn't.
