Well, well, well. Now this is could be interesting. Well, multi-shipper inclined babes of my flist, shall we dive in and see how it goes?

I can't imagine a multi-ship forum could be any more cantankerous than the state of the rest of the forum right now. Welcome to the USS GeekLove. Below you is the pool deck, and the continental breakfast serves croissants and infighting.

And was this thread what people were asking for? I know for me, my issues have always kind of been..
- General unwillingness/inability of the mods to come to the stunning realization that if you want to run a message board, you can't have it both ways with lines like "I'm just a person too" and "This is me having my personal opinion blah blah" before stirring the drama pot.
- The fact that as the site adds more shows, and therefore because of protocol decides on one ship to back, they alienate people one by one because eventually every poster won't agree with the box they are being shoved into, not all G/S shippers are House/Cameron shippers, or Joan/Adam shippers, etc. etc.
- If you don't agree with every ship, you must make sure you never express said alternate opinion, even in passing or with a tiny piece of art, because you will be hit with a) a wave of angry, incoherent fengirls and then b) a wave of mods/"long-time posters", who launch into the same attacks with a slightly more developed vocabulary, until of course, they start fighting with each other.

It's like Mean Girls but everyone is slightly less pretty.

I'm pretty sure that 90% of the evil-doers in this scenario are fans of at least one ship on the board, or they are respectful and have other reasons they want to hang out there. They like the board for some purpose, and I've never heard anyone ask for a revolution by opening up the board to all ships. A little respect, some clearer guidelines, and the ability to every once in a while politely express an alternate preference in one fandom or another without being hit in the back with a machete, yeah.

Me? I just want to shove a pencil into the myopic viewpoint of a lot of CSI shippers in general. That's why I keep my surfing to a minimum at YTDAW, because I don't see the point in starting trouble, and yeah, it really isn't my board. But it sucks, because I do miss out on meeting cool new people in my fandom(s) who dig the same ship(s) I do. I really want to hump the House forum, but my general "poop on you" attitude toward a lot of the posters and the admins (not all, of course) makes me think someday I'll go balistic on someone when they piss me off, and I'd rather avoid embarassing myself.

I am just too old for this shit.

I think a multi-ship place was just a part of the mad, mad ranting over at briasoleil's, but... Well, I take what I can get and I do love YTDAW to tiny bits despite all, so might as well see if it can be good.

Blah, I'm getting a headache. I'd forgotten the madness of fandom, since I'd made my own corner of LotR fandom.

Oh, like I give a shit :) Nothing I wouldn't express though any other medium. Although I should be wary of going on rants like these in other people's journals instead of my own, because at least in my own journal I could say I brought it upon myself. Not that any admin would ever read my journal anyway, but you get what I'm saying. It is kind of weird to think this whole thing spread over here though, especially with a lot of our lists containing posters of all sorts of fandoms.

I am not in love with YTDAW. Nope. I may have had some lust-at-first-site (oh yeah, I am so punny) but now, nyet. I do have dirty thoughts about the House forum though. Mmmmmmm.... House.

Of course, this is all coming from the girl who consistently forgets to even post updates about her fanfic (ummm, whoops for the last like 3 stories) so no big loss there.

A big multi-ship gangbang does have potential though, if the fengirls are kept at bay and the mods don't keep on interjecting with comments on the thread's guinea pig objective. And one big thread doesn't sound like a great idea because there will certainly be a lack of establishing dialogues and gaining momentum with the breadth of topics to discuss.

But I would like a hanky, but only if you stitch something on it for me. Perhaps a Norwegian flag, or a profile of Bush with little devil horns :)

I think I'm attached to YTDAW since I joined back in 2002 and remember it fondly. I think I'm still in denial of changes. Sniff. (And I'm so spoiled from the LotR fandom where really, I carved my own corner out.)

Eh, I'm okay with the forum as is and I gotta give them props for even listening to the complaints in that giant thread o' wankery. As to how they started the thread off - maybe they're just as snarky as we are? I dunno, I'm still of the opinion that there's nothing much more they can do to improve the forum. My beef is with the 12 year old fangirls who can't spell and treat G/S as some weird religion.
