Jul. 6th, 2005 01:52 amOFUCSI update! Chapter Three: Komodo Kickassery and Other Morning Happenings can be found here (and here soon enough too.) See appropriate icon.
I think I shall change my layout. Now I just need to find a slave to make pretty graphics for me... *gets out net*
No news from little plagiariser yet. How sad.

I dont take credit for the story at all. It was used as a challange on a forum. The guidleines were to use any fic that you would think would fit the genre that was given in the rules and 'remake' the story as per the frules. We also had to email the writers and ask permission for the story, which I have done. If there has been a misunderstanding I will certaininly take the fic down and email the author again and make my apologies because it seems no email was ever recieved and ask memebers of the forum not to post anymore challanges such as that one. Due to the nautre of most fics that I have written I place ratings and disclaimers on all my fics so readings know what they are about to read. The fic will be taken down and moderators told and an email sent with apologies.
Cam sayteth:
What's that I smell? Oh yes, it's the very rank smell of *bullshit*.
I know the author of that fic. She got no e-mail. I know the author of another fic you also copied&pasted, she got no e-mail. You also copied&pasted a L&O: SVU story (didn't even change the title for that one), an original story into a Pokemon fanfic and a short story by a published author no less.
So I say again, you are a thief. If you really did ask permission, you had no business *whatsoever* posting those until a reply had been secured. And when that had been secured (if it had been secured - I doubt anyone would okay you taking their fics just to change the names), you bloody well post a disclaimer giving credit to the original author. Neither of the stories I've discovered you have copied and pasted have such a disclaimer. And all the original authors have been alerted - and so far, not a singel one of them can recall being e-mailed by you. I suppose you're going to tell me an e-mail gnome ate the e-mails.
Secondly, you are not reworking these stories, you are reposting them with only the names changed. That's no challenge, no remake, that is plagiarism. And it's against ff.net's rules, I might add.
There is no misunderstanding. You have plagiarised. You can rattle on about it not being intentional and mabe you'll even convince a few, but it does not change the fact that you stole word-for-words other people's stories and posted them without any credit to them whatsoever. You also did this with a story called "Crimson Touch" back in 2004. Copy&paste, no disclaimer. It's amazing what one can find out on the Net with a little search. I sense a pattern, I do.
Yank those stories, admit your wrongdoing, apologise and maybe, maybe you'll walk away from this with some dignity.

And now I'm pissed. I was mildly enraged before, now... Grrrrr.

Date: 2005-07-05 06:25 pm (UTC)I just noticed that there is a Veronica Mars version of this. The writer keeps mentioning OFUM - The Veronica Mars School of Fanfiction.
The plagiarist really doesn't know how to spell. That's quite frightening.

Date: 2005-07-05 06:49 pm (UTC)Yep, that's one of the many OFUM spin-offs. There's.... Oh, at least 50 of them. I've lost count.
I know. She can't spell. Which makes me think all her stories are ripped off, really, since most of them have all right spelling. She must think I'm really, really, really stupid.
Guess what, little git? I am not.

Date: 2005-07-05 06:40 pm (UTC)You should ask Ramsey to do the graphics. I'm sure she'd be happy to do it.
Also, great update.

:) Thanks for the review. (And have we managed to lure you into enrolling? We should.)

Date: 2005-07-06 07:14 am (UTC)There's a difference between being inspired by a story (it happened to me: "Hey that was a cool idea. But what if something a bit similar happened to Snape, but that time he was only 21 and really bitter..." etc) and plain stealing the plot, the words and all the hard work the ficcer put into his/her story.
Grrr.

What are frules? I've never heard of those before. Hm...plagiarst-speak...only one step above grunting and pointing.
