Dear fanfic author,

So, you don't like Sara Sidle/Boromir/Ron Weasley/Denethor/Catherine Willows/Gimli/Tonks/Arwen/Sofia/Mick*/Insert Name Here and think she/he is AntiChrist-y**/evil/stupid/evil and abusing/slutty/ugly/whiny/useless/Man Lurch/kissus interruptus/Insert Evil Here? Gee, I couldn't tell that from reading your fanfics at all. But here's a thought - how you feel about the character isn't always how the other fictional characters in the world you're writing feels. (Shock, horror!, I know.) In fact, it's kind of an important difference. And if you want to write fanfic and not just vessels for your dislikes that have utterly no connection to Canon, stick to how the characters feel about each other.

Thank ye kindly.

And if I see one more appaling bashing fic from you, I'm sending my pet Dalek. EX-TERM-INATE!

Cam

** Yes, according to some, Sara Sidle is apparently the Anti-Christ. I think Adam would have a few things to say about that (and those who get that reference are cool. And also a little nerdy).

Well, I generally don't read bashing-fic, so "why" is a lot more easy to explain than "how"..

Kavanagh is a minor, occasionally-recurring character. In his first appearance, in "38 Minutes", he suggested that perhaps Our Heroes should not be rescued from their predicament, in case their ship exploded once it was back in Atlantis. Then when Weir, the bosslady, shut him down in front of everyone, he left the group that was trying to figure out how to save them in order to complain. This was indeed out of line, but I would've been right behind him if he'd started bitching the minute the crisis was over and hadn't stopped for months. I get the distinct feeling others would still hate him.

He appeared again in the episode where they send video messages home, using his message time to make complaints about questionable aspects of Weir's leadership. I defy anyone to show one specific incident he mentioned that was not a questionable decision, but apparently daring to question the Queen of Atlantis is proof of unremitting evil. I'd be sympathetic to the argument that he should have taken it up with her, except that in 38 Minutes she threatened to maroon him.

So that's why I mentioned him. He's hardly a Flawed Hero like Boromir or whoever, in fact he appears to have little to recommend him at all, but neither does he sexually harrass Miko or whatever the hell else these people dream up.
