So, CSI spoilers...

The spoiler-sources at YTDAW haveth revealed that Lady Heather is returning to CSI for an episode - and hugs Grissom at the end of the episode, after he's been forced to kill someone.

This does not amuse a great portion of the GSR crowd. Hoo boy, does it ever not amuse. People rant, talk about quitting the show and rain abuse upon TPTB. Cam ponders fanfic implications of Grissom killing someone and realises she has in fact more or elss given up on the GSR show-wise. Oh dear.

Granted, I've always been a bit on and off with GSR, but I am so not liking where the characters have been taken in the show. And there's only so much I can compensate for that in my head, y'know? I try to enjoy GSR as a fanfic-ship, but much, much badfic makes me sad. I was going to write GSR for the [livejournal.com profile] geekfiction, and now I am tempted to write something widly dysfunctional because really, that's what the show is giving me right now.

The writing has just - blah-blahed me of late, and Doctor Who is just ever so shiny. (Not to mention there's more hand-holding in the first episode of the new series than in six years of CSI.) I gather I'm not the only one who feels that way (minus perhaps the wild Who love). Which makes me wonder if maybe six or so years is about the pain threshold for a show. I started getting blaaah about X-Files around that age of it too. I guess we'll see where CSI goes from here. But perhaps it's about time to pack up the circus - or think seriously new.

So, GSR crowd boos on - with some exceptions - and this before the episode has even aired. When it does air, there will be wanking. Assuming at least some of the episode remains as it is. Will it be the death of the ship? Will fandom implode? Will BNFs be very loud in their opinions? Will there be fall-outs? Will Cam's smutfic have wild monkey sex with a side of dysfunctional because of this? Cam will keep you updated. If she can tear herself away from the Doctor Who: Adults Only Special in her head, that is.

Meanwhile, in another fandom, [livejournal.com profile] dark_aegis and I have started [livejournal.com profile] featuredwhovian. Not much up there yet but icons and banner (all courtesy of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] dragonlp86), but you can join up early if you think you'll be interested in it. Our first victim will be announced, and a FAQ should also pop up soon.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] mademoisellenon? You made fandom_wank.

Finally, thank for all good wishes for the cat. I am happy to announce he is going very well. He hasn't tried to bite open the stitches, and takes his medication with only a slight distaste. He even demanded to sleep in my bed today, curled up against me, so he seems his old self. I'm going to spoil him seriously this weekend for being good.

I haven't seen any of season 6, but from what I can tell from the GSR fans I read the opinions of, they seem very displeased. I can't really comment, because I'm new to fandom and so everything's still new to me. I'd be quite happy to see Lady H again, because she's so cool. I really hope they don't kill GSR entirely, especially after they'd said all that stuff about that supposed motel room scene earlier in the season...!

Oh, I quite like the character of LH, which is why I am not in the chorus of 'OhNOES, the show is ruined!' over that specifically. But my trust in the writing of the show is... not high, which makes me not optimistic about how it will all come out. Still, I'll sit on the fence and wait. I have popcorn here.

Not sure they're killing GSR - but not sure they're giving it much life either. Limbo, what joy.

I love LH. But so far, this season is really disappointing me. I think this season's Miami episodes are actually better- with each episode it's one or two major cases, then something involving one of the CSIs. SO much better, it helps with character development.

silly CSI TPTB. I want GSR. Now.

I've given up on GSR too, not even because I think it has no chance but because I just don't care anymore. And CSI is SO dysfunctional. It's hilarious.
I didn't read the spoiler thread, but I don't get how it's THAT terrible that Lady Heather huges Grissom? People I have no sexual feelings for have hugged me in my life, and I've hugged people I have no sexual feelings for. Then again, if Sara and Grissom look at each other or something it means OMG THEY ARE SO IN LOVE!!!!111 so I guess in that context I can see how a hug is equal to wild, passionate sex.

I hear you on the not caring now and then. Used to eagerly await spoilers, now I tend to skim them with more interst in how people react to them than the spoilers themselves.

I'm guessing it's because 1) six years of show, not one Grissom-Sara hug combined with 2) it was implied in LH's earlier ep that she and Grissom got it on which might make it seem more than a hug and 3) people are frustrated with the show in general and this might be the drop that made the cup spill over.

I am extremely amused to learn that YTDAW is as wank-tastic as ever. It's kind of comforting in a way to learn that some things never change. If ever a group of people needed to learn when to step away, the GSR faithful do. I still haven't watched more than halfway through season 3 - but then, my love was always for Sara more than for the GSR, much as I love the ship and count it as among my all-time favorites for its sheer potential.

I've been thinking a lot about CSI and fanfic lately, because I'm going to try and revive one of my novel-length WIPs as a gift for a friend, and I remember how much fun it was to write CSI when everything was going well. Arguably, it's the most popular show in the country, so everything is still going exceedingly well, but I have to consciously ignore 95% of what the show has done with Sara's character to think fondly on it. Maybe that means I can't adapt. At least I'm not sitting around whingeing about the same thing every two weeks.

In conclusion: Doctor Who is indeed very, very shiny. *clings to her happy new show*

Snort. Yeah, YTDAW remains the same, for better or worse. I have some lovely friends of there (some of which I even seduced to Who, haha!) but others there fill me with an urge to headdesk oh so hard. The show is not one giant butterfly symbolism, gah.

Yeah, you rather does have to ignore the show on air if you want a good show in your head. Because damn, character murder. Not just Sara, though I agree with you that was rather hideous. There are days I am tempted to just write a giant AU fic from season three or four or so and have the characters do what I think is IC. Cam!CSIs. Warrick would take his shirt off more and Sara would drink less. And Grissom would emote.

*is intrigued about the WIP* Some CSI goodfic would not go awry these days.

*clings to Doctor Who as well* You're not going to do to us what CSI did, are you, beloved silly show?

HOURS of amusement! Erm, well, minutes. But still! I've been slacking on watching CSI lately, but I have to see this one, just so I can understand the wank which will follow.

That tonight's episode? And people wonder why I'm not a shipper. For me the show is about the science and the cases, so TPTB can take the characters wherever they like (within reason), and CSI loses none of its brilliance.

Honestly, sometimes a hug is just a hug.

I watch CSI on and off, but I agree about the characters. I find Season1!Sarah and Grissom to be much more, well, interesting. I miss the all explanations of magic-forensics they used to have -- they even used quantum mechanics! Now it seems to be turning into a more Lost-y style show, with focus on the characters instead of plot. But what do I know.

Oy, I'm more enjoying the wank on talkCSI. Now there's your crazy. I imagine Tazzer just creamed herself and had to go clean up. Those people are obsessed with hating Sara to the point of insanity. I liiiike to watch.

CSI sucks for other reasons right now, but I'm convinced this hug is more maternal than anything else. Meh, Grissom/Sara will still eventually happen, so I shall not fret. But alas, this show does now definitely suck for its completely inconsistent writing and butchered storylines (Brass shot someone? Who knew? Catherine and Warrick like each other? Who knew?).

Lady Heather has lost her coolness. Only so many times one can be involved in a murder and not be guilty as fuck.

I think the greatest demonstration of lack of creativity on this show is that during a season, they come up with an idea and recycle it over and over again.

Everyone has daddy issues, two have been abused. Within a span of three episodes last year, two people had their life in danger. Within a span of five episodes this year, two people have shot someone. How original.

And here I've been feeling guilty about OFUCSI...I bet that ep would be good fodder...

Anyway, other than Catherine being Real!Cath instead of Drama!Cath, I've been overall disappointed with S6. A few bright spots, but over all...yawn. And they've sucked the life out of Greg, so that never helps.

I think seven seasons is the maximum alotted time for a really good show to hope to stay really good, which is why I hope withh all my heart they end CSI next season. And they should end it well, go out relatively on top.

::is NOT wading into the YTDAW thread about this, now way, no how::
