Isn't it great? There's goals, drama, red cards, blood...

Loving it. Come on, USA!

It's got pretty much all the drama a football match can have. And we've still got the second half to go!

I think my brother will have to do CPR on me before the end of this match.

Did you survive?

I ended up cheering for the US in the end. Sorry.

Your team was very meh. With exceptions, though.

Seriously! It's just crazy! I kinda can't wait to call up my American football buddies and giggle at them. That's gonna be entire phone conversation; me laughing hysterically at them and their team.

Finally, a real World Cup match! Everyone (bar perhaps Argentina) has been so half-hearted so far.

I felt for the poor Italian player who got hurt and had to keep playing since his team had done all the allowed substituting. Every time I saw him limp around, I gave him a cheer.

*much love on poor Perrotta*

That was his name, right. Poor guy. I'd give him a hug. None of the other Italian players earned that.

THREE red cards? Wow. I think the ref needs to switch to decaf.

Two of them were fair enough, IMO. The first US one I felt was a bit dodgy. Was more a yellow card than a red one. And then there was the possible missed penalties and the annulled goal and what not. That referee will get discussed, oh yes.

Certainly not lacking in drama, that's for sure.

I am utterly destroyed. Even if Italy had scored again and won, I could not have been more disgusted with the way they played today--from both a technical and sportsmanlike standpoint. It's such a love/hate thing for me sometimes.

That should be "sportsmanship". I'm just so flustered right now.

Know what you mean. The Italian team frequently piss me off with how they play.

I was rooting for Ghana, but I didn't know why, I just was. Turned out it was a good thing they won.

Unfortunately I only saw part of the US-Italy game, I had to go buy groceries, but I was still really happy.

And now my mom thinks I'm crazy for my love of soccer. Oh, well, she's been thinking that I'm crazy for my whole life, what's one more thing?

I was absolutely ecstatic about Ghana beating Czech Republic. Yes--it's not all set in stone like the other groups; everyone still has a chance!

I was in a restaurant with the family watching the U.S. vs Italy game and there was no sound! :\ I look down at my food, look back up, and BAM--we have a point? Yes! Yes! Oh wait...it was a fluke. Zaccardo scored an own goal. We still technically haven't scored a real goal yet. Damn it. How unimpressive.

But the Italians were playing worse than they've played before and we managed to hold them off with 9 players, which is pretty good for our standards. I was scared it was going to end up like the Czech game, which I slowly learned to stop shuddering about. The red carded Italian was not a very nice person. There was another Italian (Gah, I don't remember his name!) who seemed like a cool guy though because when an American player kicked the ball out from under him and accidentally clashed feet with the Italian, the Italian guy just got back up after his tumble, smiled, and gave the American a pat like "It's okay--I'm not going to whine and fake it like it really hurts."

The ref was complete shite. How annoying.

Yes, the U.S. still has a slim chance! All we have to do is beat Ghana (oh dear we're in a tough group!) and pray Italy beats Czech Republic.

Again. Oh. Dear.

On a side note: Mexico! Oh Mexico!

And: England, you better know how lucky you are.

And for tomorrow: Go Japan! Go Brazil! Go Korea Republic! (I want to see an Asian country go on to the next round, heritage pride and all :D) Tee hee, and go Mavs. :)

I've never been this into sports before. I think I'm going to die of a heart attack at a very young age.

Wow, I just noticed that was a pretty long comment.

I'm just so jittery about everything and my brain is in a sports (well, football and basketball) meltdown. MELT!

Yargh, I missed it; I had to work!

Three red cards?

. . . .and a tie?

O.O

HOLY CHRIST ON A CRACKER.

I think I died while watching that match.

I cannot even TELL YOU how many times I began to scream "NO GO THE OTHER WAY OMG GET THE BALL AAAAAH NO NOT IN THE GOAL OMG thank god Keller kinda rules."

And THREE RED CARDS. What the EFF. :S

Now all we have to do is beat Ghana and do some quantum physics and maybe go back in time and fix some flux capacitor......

I'm not quite sure how it all works out. :S

Exciting, eh?

I see the US has managed to stay in by the skin of their teeth. If they beat Ghana and Italy beats the Czech, they still get in, right?

Tonight we play Brazil and I CANNOT WATCH FOR IT IS ON LATE AND I HAVE AN EXAM!

I'm going to say, from my rather biased position, that the US totally deserved to win that game (despite the fact that we never scored our own goal) and that ref should never work again.

Appologies to the Italians around here, but I was expecting much better play from your team.

Congratulations to Ghana! Poor Socceroos (?), you looked good for most of it.

The BEST thing about this! Is that I get to laugh at my Italian coworkers because they drew with the US. FOREVER!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Shame it's over for my team though. But we showed the world we could play. Amidst all the freaking drama. So being stopped every streetcorner for having braided the Togo flag into my hair has been worth it.

I still want to know how U.S. wangled that. Unbe-fuckin'-lievable!

Check this out when you get a chance!

Missed you!
