I was absolutely ecstatic about Ghana beating Czech Republic. Yes--it's not all set in stone like the other groups; everyone still has a chance!
I was in a restaurant with the family watching the U.S. vs Italy game and there was no sound! :\ I look down at my food, look back up, and BAM--we have a point? Yes! Yes! Oh wait...it was a fluke. Zaccardo scored an own goal. We still technically haven't scored a real goal yet. Damn it. How unimpressive.
But the Italians were playing worse than they've played before and we managed to hold them off with 9 players, which is pretty good for our standards. I was scared it was going to end up like the Czech game, which I slowly learned to stop shuddering about. The red carded Italian was not a very nice person. There was another Italian (Gah, I don't remember his name!) who seemed like a cool guy though because when an American player kicked the ball out from under him and accidentally clashed feet with the Italian, the Italian guy just got back up after his tumble, smiled, and gave the American a pat like "It's okay--I'm not going to whine and fake it like it really hurts."
The ref was complete shite. How annoying.
Yes, the U.S. still has a slim chance! All we have to do is beat Ghana (oh dear we're in a tough group!) and pray Italy beats Czech Republic.
Again. Oh. Dear.
On a side note: Mexico! Oh Mexico!
And: England, you better know how lucky you are.
And for tomorrow: Go Japan! Go Brazil! Go Korea Republic! (I want to see an Asian country go on to the next round, heritage pride and all :D) Tee hee, and go Mavs. :)
I've never been this into sports before. I think I'm going to die of a heart attack at a very young age.
