Damn you, Italy. You may have played well and your win might not have been undeserved, but I STILL HAAAAAATE YOUR TEAM. If Portugal wins as well, the finale will be between two teams I'd like to kick in the arse, woe.
Right - got quite a few new people on my flist again, so thought I'd post a little introduction to myself for old and new. You might've picked up on these things previous, but here they are in black and white, anyhoo.
What I am:
Norwegian, meaning I hail from the European country of Norway. I am very fond of my country, even if it makes me groan on a daily basis. I do link to news stories about Norway and generally pay it heed, since the rest of the world tends not to. And yes, Norwegian is the language we speak here, so English is my second language. Apologies for hiccups.
Atheist, occasional agnostic. I don't believe in any of the religions, and yes, I have had a good look at them. I am happy to discuss matters of faith if you're curious why I don't believe, but attempts to "save" me or preach will not end anywhere pretty.
Social democrat, which is not a communist, thank you. Yes, I am to the left in Norwegian politics, which by itself is rather left-driven too. So, conservatives in the US might find some of my opinions very odd indeed. The sentiment is frequently returned.
Pro-choice, as most people tend to be in my part of the world and there's not that much debate over it. I reserve the right to make choices about my uterus, and in no way make the choices for anyone else's uterus.
Straight, as I fancy males. Males are hot. I can totally understand why other males would think so, too. And when I'm having a day when males annoy me, I rather do understand why women might prefer women too. In other words, when it involves consentual adults, I don't get particulary worked up over your sexual preferences.
Opinionated, as I got politician genes in me. As a rule of thumb, any rambling opinion from me tends to have the phrase "I could be wrong" somewhere in it, and seizing upon it is usually your best cue to argue with me.
Sports fan, shockingly enough. Sports I am fond of include football, athletics, biathlon, cross country skiing and other winter sports. My two football teams are Tromsø and Bodø-Glimt, and I will cheer them without shame. I also watch sports because I am shallow and enjoy ogling males, and as they're there, would be shame to waste the opportunity, no?
Bitchy now and then, and fond of snark and sarcasm. Sorry. I could say I can't help it, but that would be a total lie. I just feel like it and act accordingly sometimes.
Fandomwise, I am:
Whovian, a Doctor Who fan of new skool. I got hooked on the revived series, but have also started watching older stuff and generally get a kick out of it. I have no shame enjoying the view of the Doctor, and I am deeply in love with the Daleks. Unrequited love, no doubt, as they'd just exterminate me. Sniff. This is the fandom I'm currently the most involved in, and write the most fanfic for.
CSI fan, though not as much as I once was. These days, I mostly wander about fandom and mock silliness and feel a bit nostalgic. I do wank watch updates when fandom is being wanky, rant when I feel like it and will do the odd fanfic for it.
Lord of the Rings geek, books fan originally, fond of the movies too. I don't participate in fandom anymore, apart from reading fics now and then. It's also the fandom where I wrote The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth (known as OFUM) and got a certainl level of fandom fame.
GAFFer, that is to say I hang at GodAwful Fanfiction board and will snark badfic. I make no apologies for that, but if it's not your thing, it's not your thing.
Additionally, I enjoy the writings of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Agatha Christie, J.K Rowling, George Martin and Neil Gaiman; watch Mythbusters, Nytt på nytt, Criminal Minds, various Law and Orders and I Mummidalen; feel nostalgic about Babylon 5, Red Dwarf, X-Files, Water Rats, Blackadder, The Office, Star Trek, Buffy and Gummi Bears. I like sci-fi and fantasy, play computer games and read Calvin and Hobbs and Nemi comics. I am a Discovery Europe and BBC fangirl.
As for everything else - learn as we go, eh?
And now that football is almost over and the great wilderness of no Doctor Who episodes is about to set in, fanfic might help with the severe pangs of longing. So, I'm doing fanfics-on-request again. Leave a signed comment (no anon this time) with three things you'd like to see in a Doctor Who fic and why you'd like to see them. Creative reasons are a plus - well, they'll amuse me, anyway. I promise to do at least three requests from here, anything else depending on time and inspiration. (Though I might write some stories later rather than sooner - little patience is nice.)
Go mad.
P.S Save your time and request if it involves character bashing of any kind - Jackie, Mickey, Rose, Reinette - I won't do those.

Date: 2006-07-05 03:57 pm (UTC)Out on her royal yacht, the queen was enjoying the sea air when she spied a man in the water off the port bow - clearly being menaced by a very large shark. Through her binoculars she could see it was Christian Ronaldo, struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 20-foot shark! The queen ordered the captain to change course to try and save the poor man, but she knew the yacht's top speed would never get them there in time.
At that exact moment a speedboat containing three men wearing white tops sped into view. One of the men took aim at the shark and fired a harpoon into its ribs, immobilising it instantly. The other two reached out and pulled Ronaldo from the water and, using long clubs, beat the shark to death. They bundled the bleeding, semi-conscious Ronaldo into the speedboat along with the dead shark and prepared for a hasty retreat, when they heard frantic calling ........... It was the Queen calling them to the yacht. On reaching yacht, the Queen went into raptures about the rescue and said, "I'll give you a knighthood for your brave actions. I thought the England team would hate Ronaldo after the world cup. But I see that the England team are true heroes and should serve as a model for sportsmanship to other countries." She knighted them and sailed away. As she departed, Rooney asked the others, "Who was that?!" "That," Beckham answered, "was our Queen. She rules the Commonwealth and she knows everything about our country."
"Well," Rooney replied, "she knows Fuck all about shark fishing. How's the bait holding up ?"
