Blah.

Been a busy week - job interviews and job applications are such fun, aren't they? Bah.

The world has had quite a week, too. The UN bombing in Baghdad, the Hutton inquiry contiuing in Britain, bombs in India, bombs in Israel, rockets in Palestine, North Korean talks start and the Columbia report gives NASA a good kick in the bum. Iraq's a bloody mess - almost all the worst predictions have come about. Of course, there is still the chance that the US can pull it off and make Iraq a stable, democratic state, but it's looking very hard. And I think we can more or less forget the 'roadmap to peace'. I fear there will be no peace until there is no more blood to spill - or just one people left. It's like Northern Ireland, only worse. Two people, one land. And once you throw religion into it too, things tend to get very, very complicated. Funny, that. Religion can bring out good in people - but it sure can bring out the very, very bad as well.

Then again, I see things as a non-believer (unless I decide to reinvent Asatru with feminist values - Valhall for women. Hot men in black leather keeping us women happy. Think of the possibilities) and then it's easy to see the bad religion brings. Good old-fashioned insider vs outsider contrast - I had a very interesting chat with a Christian scholar about that some months back. Speaking of insider versus outsider views....

'Can American rule the world?'

Interesting article, that. It's a bit choppy, but interesting.

Oh, and about the rant I left in my last entry - didn't actually refer to anyone on my LJ friends list, for those who wondered. Least I think so.... I'm horrid at rememerbing names, so I'm also horrid at remembering who is on LJ and who is not. And not all of it was Internet-related, anyway. I'm having a minor 'wear down' again. I tend to get them every now and then. It comes with - well, caring and paying attention to what happens in the world, I guess. I was raised by two passionatly engaged and political active people, so I cannot imagine not doing it. And as a journalist, a lot of it comes with the job. But because the world can be very gloomy, now and then it wears you down. The best thing to do is to take a break and think happy thoughts and then get involved again (of course, I'm horrid at taking my own advice).

So, happy thoughts of the week:

TTT is out on DVD

The Norwegian election campaign finally gets out of 'boring' (Hee)

Bodø-Glimt is second in the football (or for you Americans, 'soccer') league

Gigli has bombed

Bush is down in the polls

Weather is looking up for the weekend

I finally get to play Diablo II

My laptop does not have Sobig or the Blaster virus

Pauline Hanson is in jail (I know. I'm such a bad person for sniggering with glee over that)

I'm fed, clothed, fairly happy and I have a multizone DVD player

Babylon 5 season 3 is out on DVD (soon, my preciousss. Soon we shall have its)

Saz liked the icons I made

And...

What Is Your Battle Cry?

Lo! Who is that, rampaging amidst the freeway! It is Cam, hands clutching a vorpal blade! And with a spectacular howl, her voice cometh:

"In the name of Thor the Mighty, no flesh shall be spared!!!"

You're not the only one who's sniggering.

Have fun with the multizone DVD player. I know that I've put mine to good use. Hehe.

*sniggers some more*

And it's gotten the Liberal party into hot water, too. It's like an unexpected Christmas gift - you think the box looks small, but inside is the key to a room full of gold and riches. *wipes away a tear*

"Been a busy week - job interviews and job applications are such fun, aren't they? Bah." Ouch. I remember the beginning of the summer holidays; trying to find a summer job was damn near impossible, and that's easier than getting a skilled job. (On the plus side, according to my dad, the hardest job to get a placement for for university graduates is law. Or was it medecine?...I can't remember.)

"TTT is out on DVD"

TTT! I saw it yesterday, which is nice as England (and probably the rest of Europe) is almost always behind America when it comes to film & DVD releases. The ten-minute preview of RotK looked..amazing. *Jaw drop, gasp*. I nearly got booted out of the room while viewing it 'cause my mother (who started crying when Haldir died) got so fed up of my threatening PJ. Oops ^^.

"I finally get to play Diablo II"

How are you finding it? I've had it since this time two years ago, and it's alright-there are better, but there's a LOT worse.

You don't have that damn virus? Lucky you! I had the blaster...Since my computer crashes anyway, I didn't know that *this* crashing was caused by a virus. I managed to wipe it, but only due to my broadband connection enabling me to download the patch in the minute I was given before my computer shut down.

I hate programmers sometimes. *Kicks*

*Thinks happy thoughts*

Diablo II is fun enough. I hate that you can only save when exiting, though, and that enemies respawn after a save. It makes playing at random short intervalls annoying. But oh well. I got through all three difficulty levels and have now a 47th level Amazon warrior. Kickass ;)

Happy thoughts is indeed the key.

well, check it out...

What Is Your Battle Cry?

Hark! Who is that, stalking along the candy store! It is Saz, hands clutching a piece of chainlink fence! She howls mightily:

"In the name of Thor the Mighty, I tear into the enemy like a four-year-old on a sugar rampage!"

*swings her chainlink fence and grins*

My news in brief:

Luke fixed my car today

Performance of King Lear (with me playing "attendant", yay) postponed (some silly person thought we could have it ready in a month. No.)

Learned 2 dances for our Musical "The Third Dick" (i.e. Richard III); haven't broken my neck despite extreme uncoordination, and am actually beginning to *like* dancing. A little.

Have a solo song for Dickie III! Go me! *vbg*

Discovered due to re-allocation of readings that I am not quite as behind in my stuff as I thought! (2 weeks behind instead of 4.)

CG's in heat, and Elijah's taking advantage of it... ergo we shall prolly have new kitties in a couple of months.

Hee. You follow Thor too, I see. Then you are fit to join my newly reinvented Asatru with feminised Valhall and High Temples with hot males in little clothing.

And aaaaw, kittens!

Apostle Apostrophe would be very vexed indeed to see how forgotten he was. Tsk, tsk.

Minis are best reported via e-mail, though. That way I add them as I'm making an adoption batch and am updating the list anyway. Easier to not lose them then.
