George W. Bush to the Australian Parliament, recaling John Howard's visit to the ranch in Texas some time back:

"You might remember that I called him a man of steel. That's Texan for fair dinkum."

....

Since when does fair dinkum, meaning to be true, real, honest, upfront etc translate into 'man of steel'? The hell?

I guess we can safely say Mr Bush's troubled track record with English also includes mangling Aussie-isms.

Unless he was cracking a joke.

I'm not sure which one troubles me the most.

Pah, he's an idiot. We all know it. He can't even handle American english very well, he shouldn't try to mix it up with a little Australian english as well, stupid git.

Of course, the idiocy may just be an act, the opening salvo to his bid for world domination... Nah;-)

I'm still trying to figure out if he's a brilliant Machiavellian genius set upon world domination or a hapless puppet. If he really is an evil genius, he's damn good. Scary, isn't it?
