Pretty, pretty screencaps of the Houses of Healing bit on the EE trailer. Sigh. I want the EE. And icons. And maybe Faramir. To ogle at a distance, of course.

Speaking of the fandom, I've become moderator of a rather new LotR fanfiction archive here. Feel free to join up. We have forums where you'll find me too. And if you were wondering if I finished the Faramir/Éowyn scribble - you can find it there.

[livejournal.com profile] maureenlycaon was showing me some various webpage interfaces of a company and this was one. I can't decide if it's meant to be genuinely patriotic or a poke at American patriotism. Opinions?

Autumn in Norway

For all the bad weather and cold, autumn is still the most beautiful season of the year in my country in my not so modest opinion. All seasons have their beauty, though. Autumn will soon have passed and the stillness of winter will be upon us. I look forward to the quiet.

So, this brings me to Cam's Meme of the Week.

What season would I be and which would you be and for what reasons?

You'd be Canbrra winter - cold, clear, crisp, and fascinating, although possibly not to everyone's taste. Winter in Canberra tends to be dry, and clear - blue, blue skies, frosts and not much precipitation.

I'm a Perth summer - baking in the warm, dry heat, misting myself with a spray bottle, staying inside and going down to Fremantle to grab fish and chips from Cicerellos and eat them on the beach watching the sun go down over the ocean.

One can only hope that though I am winter in Canberra, I don't have John Howard staying in my mind. That would just be too cruel.

I think you'd be winter. Most people think of winter with trepidation (and people with bad grammar should hold you in the same regard, heh), I don't however. To me winter is clear and calm and creates some of the best works of art - frost on the pane of a window, snow flakes, and the way that ice will glaze over the trees and make it look as though it's coated with diamonds.

I have no idea what season I am...

The time in between two seasons, perhaps. Neither the one or the other, but with elements from both.

Growing up in Norway made me see beauty in the winter and the silence of it all. Beauty is what you make of it.

Love the F/E "scribble"! They're so my LotR OTP.

I think of you as summer, primarily because I imagine Norwegian summers and Alaskan ones are much the same--mild, green, and all too brief, yet glorious all the same.

That would depend a bit on where in Norway, as it stretches up so far the difference between summer in the south and summer in the north is substansial. I grew up in the North and the summers never lasted long - but with midnight sun, they felt longer.

Faramir and Eowyn are my OTP as well. And they're both adorable. Sigh.

I say a Melbourne autumn - the trees are vivid with colour, the sun is pale and the skies are clear, and a fresh, cool wind blows. Plus that's when the Melbourne Comedy Festival's on.

As for that patriot thing... don't know. Don't want to know.

:)

I do wanna know, as the not knowing is bugging the heck out of me. Surely it must be a subtle making fun of patriotism. There aren't people like that in the US, are there?

I'm scared.

If they are, no wonder they elected Bush. But it sounds like something the KKK or somebody like that would do.

Hmm, seasons -- the first thought that came to mind was winter, but not as bitterly cold as it can get in Connecticut. I mean the kind of winter where the air is still and quiet but you can still hear a few breezes through the trees or a few birds... and everything is covered in a blanket of snow. Only some things that have a bit of elevation -- mountains, rocks, trees, houses, -- etc can be distinguished from the snow-covered landscape, and even those are partly covered. Bodies of water, unless they move too much or two fast, are covered with a layer of ice.

I'm thinking this probably because of the idea that you guard what's in your mind -- it's there but it's out of sight for everyone who can't go up and have it uncovered, and silence is savored.

As for me, I'd *like* to be summer because I get cold so blasted easily, but none of those silly quizzes ever suggest I could be summer. I always end up with "winter" as a result myself, probably because I have a bit of a cool, sometimes cold attitude toward people and don't make myself extremely approachable all the time, but there's still something people seem to like about me. Same thing with the snow-covered landscape where most of what's there is out of sight, though some might be partly seen in outlines and occasionally, to discover more of what one of those outlined forms (such as a tree) looks like, you have to deal with snow tumbling off the branches and making a mess.

Might also be because I am from Norway and Norway is often associated with winter and snow, ne? Even amongst ourselves, I think.

I happen to like winter very much, so why shouldn't I like you, hmm? So there.

Heehee -- well, I associate Norway with water and the colors blue and green and rocks before I associate it with winter and snow, for some odd reason. If you were from say, Antarctica or Greenland, I probably would have thought of winter mostly because of your location. ;)

I like winter myself -- if I get to stay inside and laze around under a warm blanket (and avoid all the crazy inexperienced drivers with southern accents on the streets) all day. And to have some hot chocolate while curling up on the living room couch and watching the latest Nor'easter dump another six inches of snow outside. Or when the sun comes out after a major ice storm and all the trees are covered in sparkling ice, especially when you can see rainbows. It looks like the woods have turned into some sort of Crystal Forest from fairy tales or something.

If only it didn't freeze me to death or cover my driveway-on-a-hill with a sheet of slick ice that's left me with too many headaches and sore backsides over the years. :P

*gets massive craving for that delicious hot chocolate she had in Belgium*

so why shouldn't I like you, hmm?

I'd give a list, but you probably wouldn't fear the reasons as much as mere mortals would. ;)

I'll see you around at lotrfanfiction, then! Seasons... I'm not sure, so I'll say November and May, because most persons has got different sides like that. And I think those two months are similar, different as they may be. They are both on the boarder, changing...

And me... well, I'm not a morning of pale spring, but an evening of sparkling autumn... For what reasons? Because that's who I am. ^_~!

I think in Norway October brings greater change than November, but this may vary. Interesting notion, anyway. Autumn and spring are the changing months, tomorrow not the same as yesterday, while summer and winter are what they are.

Always nice to see a woman who's sure of herself. ;)

What a shameless plugger you are!! Now that life is somewhat back to normal I can go back to my "editing and reviewing with glee" positions. Still haven't gone powermad, huh? It'll come...

As for the seasons, I'm sleepy and I have another thing to drag myself off to GAH!. So I'll give you a detailed version of your season-ness at a later time.

I'm saving my powermadness for special occasions. Can't waste it all at once, y'know.

And yes, I have no shame.

you'd be a Canadian spring, soemtimes calm sometimes harsh sometimes disspeaering without a trace but always a welcome thing.
( Note: must never call Miss Cam a thign again)

I'd be an artic summer. short calm a bit unperdictble and fairly well known for being odd and a pain.
