Our Crown Prince and Princess had a daughter today, who is now second in line to the throne, and is set to one day become Norway's first reigning Queen in modern times. (Read about it here or here)
I salute our new addition to the Royal family for her exceptional timing - being born on the 21st of January means she pushed Mr. Bush's smug face off the Norwegians news. Thank you.
Incidentally, Mister Shrub, when you're defending your Iraq invasion, do not take Norway's name in your mouth as a 'partner'. We did not support your war. We did not send troops to your war. (We sent engineers to help with reconstruction, but that is another matter.) In fact, how about you not taking Norway's name in your mouth at all, ever? Forget we exist. Never come to visit us. In fact, stay out of Scandinavia altogether.
Thank you.
In other news, it does appear the PPC troll did e-mail me after all - apparently she confused me with P@L and sent the e-mails to her instead. Hmm. Should I take this as a compliment, I wonder?
But nothing shall displease me today - Bush is happily a far ocean away; Norway has a new heir and is quiet and peaceful and good; my webpage is getting a neat new look and new fanart; it's -12C outside but we have central heating and cocoa on the stove; and my cat is adorably sleeping with a paw resting on his forehead. Life is good. (Incidentally, if you wish to move here where life is good and there is no Shrub, there is a spare bedroom available where I live.;))
Norwegian chocolate all around!

Oh and congrats on the female heir...first in 600 years I believe? It's funny how our future queen is only a month and a bit older...they could be bosom buddies.

Date: 2004-01-21 03:46 pm (UTC)Yes, the Norwegian media did comment upon Holland and Belgium both having female heirs about. They can all be kick-ass Queens together. Ours already kicked Bush off most of the Norwegian news, so it's a damn fine start.

Date: 2004-01-21 03:42 pm (UTC)Well, we have some large farms nearby, so you could buy a barn or two and move in, I suppose. You could run a community farm.

No hot chocolate for me! I have to bone up on Maths, study my Latin, write up a notation on Napoleon's character, and how it affected France after the revolution and *then* and only then, do I get to update my review-less story.
Life sucks.

Date: 2004-01-22 05:00 am (UTC)There, there. Have some chocolate. Think happy thoughts. Perhaps Norway's future Queen Ingrid Alexandra kicking Bush off the TV screen in Norway is an omen. Perhaps it means he shall be kicked out of the White House later on this year.
*fingers crossed*
I'm comming too!

Date: 2004-01-21 03:29 pm (UTC)Then you and I can perfect our plots for world domination and men in black leather. *nods*
I couldn't even bring myself to watch the State of the Union address last night because I knew it would piss me off and I was in no mood. I need to find a nice Canadian (or Norwegian, or Brit, or Aussie or what have you) to marry so I can get out of this two-bit political empire. So sick of it I could scream. *eyeroll*
Snuggles to you and your kittie, m'dear.

And very essential planning, that. Must be the right kind of leather and the right kind of men, or it ruins it all.

SISTERS IN EVIL! *insert maniacal laughter here*
*ahem* I think that's my cue to lie down before the cold medicine eats it way through the rest of my brain and good sense.
Mmm, leather...

I think I'm getting a cold too, so obviously you've infected me. Meanie.
When can I move in?
Date: 2004-01-21 04:10 pm (UTC)I know I would prefer ANYONE (who is not American) for a ruler other than John Howard (aka Little Johnny Jackboots) He's such a wimp *kicks PM*
May I move into the spare room? Please? I'll bring Vegemite.

I've always imagine the spawn of Bush and Howard would just be like the Ultimate Git. Shudder.

Date: 2004-01-21 06:28 pm (UTC)If I can just cut in here ...
Date: 2004-01-21 07:26 pm (UTC)So yes, we're better off without Saddam, but I don't think that Bush is a good leader for my country; the denial of civil rights is not what America stands for.
Re: Bush Bashing
Date: 2004-01-22 04:49 am (UTC)And you know, Osama bin Laden will also think himself a 'God loving man' and so will his supporters. Many man of faith have done terrible, terrible things. Religion can very dangerous, and this is also part of my worry.
The main point is - where Bush stands up and says one thing, I shall be right there to oppose him. This is my right. You have the right to line up right next to Bush if you so desire. If you do, I will assume you do so because you believe it right, and you know what he stands for. Do me the fricking same credit, will you?
For why I oppose the Iraq war and other discussions, you can see:

I'm not posting this for a huge discussion on my views or whatever. Believe me, I've had many of those discussions. If you really want so anyway, I suggest you contact me on AIM or via e-mail or something and don't post anon and unsigned in my LJ.
I'm pointing this stuff out to show you that I have actually thought things through and I'm not just disliking Bush on a whim here, which you seem to think. I even admit I could be - gasp!- wrong. (You might note that I did predict that the end of the war in May was only the start of the troubles - and on that I was right. I was so far been wrong on the Kurds.) I don't assume to have any answers. But I have made my stand in the world, for better or for worse, and it's right here, opposing Bush and Howard and Berlusconi and neo-Nazis and fundamentalists and bigots and the death penalty - and I will see as wrong. On some issues I am probably wrong. On some I may be right. Only history will tell, but I will not be around to see it. Nor will you.
Hmm, this turned out longer than I planned. Um, yeah, I get slightly passionate when I get the gazillionth 'but Europe is just not listening to Bush!' We are. A very large part of us are just not liking what we're hearing. (And as you've seen, some of your countrymen don't like it either, and I do believe they've been listening as well.)

OOOhh. Chocolate *drool*
My dad, who isn't a monarchist at all, commented yesterday that it was better with the devil you know. He couldn't see a single Norwegian Politician working as president. And when I showed him the wonderous person that is the president of the United States, I think he looked at the birth of the future queen of Norway in a new way. *grins*
Ingrid Alexandra, Ingrid Alexandra. Well. I'm impressed with Haakon & Mette-Marit's ability to select a name that wasn't one of those most predicted beforehand. The tribute to King Olav was better with Alexandra than it would have been with Olava...
New Norwegian Princess has arrived: Make way for Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway. Or would that be arveprinsesse?
