I know I'm getting some books and a microwave for Christmas, but there are some mysterious gifts around to. Hmm. I guess I shall find out tonight (we open our gifts on Christmas Rve). But for now, it's almost time for "Tre Nøtter til Askepott" (Three Nuts for Cinderella) as it is every year.

Have a splendid day and much good food and pretty gifts.

Nah, we open them in the evening. In maybe three-four hours or so. First we eat our pork and dessert and cake, then we open gifts. It's all very traditional. Christmas is the pigging out season.

Kmart carries Red Dwarf? I'm impressed.

And you'll be in tomorrow and I'll be in yesterday. Heh, I used to love calling people back in Norway while I was there and asking them how life was in yesterday. Ah, happy memories.

Think you're getting anything exciting?

Dunno, really. Already got main pressie from Luke, cos he's impatient. Mum always tries to get me something good and surprising. (I like not knowing what to expect. Luke's the opposite, which makes shopping for each other agonising. He has one thing that he wants, but I want to surprise him; and I don't want to tell him what to get me, cos it will spoil the surprise, but he doesn't know what to get me because I won't tell him.)

I know my bro's getting me something as well, but not what. I don't even know at this point whether I'll see my Dad. He hasn't called or come over in months. Mum hasn't seen him either, and he usually shows more interest in bro than me.

Boys can be a bit hopeless when buying gifts. I know what my bro is getting me. Mum and dad are getting me something mysterious apart from the microwave, though. Hmm-hmmm.

But jewellry is usually good. Oh yes.

Funny. I was thinking about what to buy myself from granddad, then I remember he died. He just sent me money. Last two Christmases I bought myself the EEs from him. I was going to this Christmas too.

You aways notice absent family members more at Christmas, eh? I'm sorry about your dad.

Yeah... I feel bad though, because I can't bring myself to care much. I stopped expecting attention from him when I was about 7.

My Nan always sends me money. It's always Stirling, and due to the exchange rate it gets more and more every year: when I was a kid she'd send me ₤20 and it would exchange to just under $40. This year she sent ₤30, and it worked out to $75. I spent it on contact lenses after I found out I could save $40 by ordering them online from the US. (No kidding! 40 smegging dollars, even factoring in international postage. Never buying them from OPSM again, I can tell you!)

You're just spare yourself the grief of disappointment. The shame is on him, not you.

That's quite a save. What did you spend what you saved on? Icecream? :P

The US dollar is really, really low these days, so one can actually save quite a lot on ordering from the US. Good for us that their economy is bad, one might say.

I didn't think of it that way...

Wasn't too long ago that USD to AUD was almost 2 to 1. Oh how the mighty have fallen. *snicker*

I'm just boggled since they are exactly the same brand and all that I bought here. Maybe Howard's taxing them lots? No GST buying offshore, after all.

And it's still a long way to the bottom.

Could be many reasons for the price different. The American ones may be made in cheaper countries, tax could be less, stiffer competition...

Or you could blame Howard, Prime Toad. Just because you can.

Yep, might just blame Howard.

I shall have to check where they are made though, just to see. The cheaper countries are closer to us, I thought. (China, Taiwan, et al) but I guess they're just the ones I know because they *are* closer. I dunno how labour rates in Latin America compare to SE Asia, after all.

Probably best, to be on the safe side. Won't be money saved if the quality turns out crap.

And now I've come back from dinner, loaded with good food and presents. And ye Gods, what presents. I'll tell you about it in private at some later time.

Forgot to say, main pressie from Luke was a gorgeous pair of earrings; topaz (I think? It's the light blue one, anyhow) surrounded by diamonds.

They do. They have the B5 boxed sets too, and Seinfeld. (which I got Luke for Christmas. Sssh, don't tell! ;)
